When in a group the looting of the boars and the bears as well as snow leopards often does not work. The loot window either pops up and is empty or it just pops up for a split second and immediately closes not giving you any loot. Sometimes you do not receive loot from 10 mobs in a row. When you go out of the group again it works. Affected are only the bears, boars and leopards between Kharanos and Brewnall Village as far as we could find out. This makes the gathering quests rather dreadfull. We were able to reproduce this on 2 days.
All mobs are loot-able even if they have nothing to loot, hence the quick loot window.
As for not receiving loot, that’s the classic experience.
The drop rate on gathering quests are a real drag.
@Bämielcraig: As Saranthir noted, some mobs simply do not drop anything… and this happens even ungrouped. I know, because I had some empty boars and bears yesterday myself in that area and I was solo.

Sure it’s just bad luck? I get 3 or 4 mobs not dropping anything but 8-10 in a row? What made me suspicious was when the window only opened for a split second and closed. I read some other people reporting this as well on here. But anyways we’re off to Loch Modan now 
Try killing spiders to get legs for a quest, they have 8 so surely one isn’t damaged during the fight.
