Lore Tidbits #6

Boy I remember when this was most commonly applied to bad roleplayers and not the actual lore.

Lorash and his mother is basicly just a badRP inserts by some writer who failed to read up on the lore he was supposed to write for…

But on the otherside, I can RP Mori as remebering his Troll days now… :smirk:

Her mother lived until she was slain by trolls in between the First and Second Wars.

Really? But how old was the Windrunner sisters mother?

How do you do, fellow troll, mon.

At least 2840 years old if Alleria was old enough to have fought in the Troll Wars. But that would mean she would have given birth to Alleria when she was 20 years old, making Alleria an adult just by the end of the war.

Looted in a Suramar treasure chest.

It seems that Tarot readings have their origins with superstitious elves, and do not provide actual prophecies. The past tense also suggests that this has gone out of fashion somewhere in the past 10.000 years.

Reinforcing that there are realms in the Shadowlands that we haven’t visited.

I’m glad we got to see so many of these wonderful, infinite realms where the only limit is one’s imagination, where the trillions of souls from hundreds of thousands of planets in the multiverse that is Warcraft meet, where heroes of every shape and form beyond and beneath mortal comprehension congeal together in a hitherto unseen show of unison to stop the destruction of reality itself.

It’s the Legion take on the Army of the Light all over again :pensive:

Though it’s fine to air your grievances, shouldn’t this be more Pet Peeves posting? The lore tidbit threads started to share actual lore information we’ve found and I’m not sure how :poop:posting contributes to that

I offer tribute in form of a lore snippet.

In the old RPG, if women spent too much time smithing there was a chance that they could transform into a sister of steel, where their skin was so tough that blades bounced off them and they could plunge their hands into molten metal with no ill effects.

On every world, there are Spirits of the elements. Not powerful elementals like the Elemental Lords, but a consciousness behind the elemental force itself. Thrall communicated with the Spirits of Water, Fire, Earth, Air and the Wilds (aka Life) on Azeroth, while Nobundo communicated with Outland’s Spirits of the primary four elements, yet not the Furies.

“I am the Spirit of Earth, Thrall, son of Durotan. I am the soil that yields the fruit, the grasses that feed the beasts. I am the rock, the bones of this world. I am all that grows and lives in my womb, be it worm or tree or flower. Ask me.”

“I am the Spirit of Air, Thrall, son of Durotan. I am the winds that warm and cool the earth, that which fills your lungs and keeps you alive. I carry the birds and insects and dragons, and all things that dare soar to my challenging heights. Ask me.”

“We are the Spirit of the Wilds, the essence and souls of all things living. We are the most powerful of all, surpassing the quakes of Earth, the winds of Air, the flames of Fire, and the floods of Water. Speak, Thrall, and tell us why you think you are worthy of our aid.”

“Everything that is… is alive.” - Outland Spirit of Air to Nobundo

“Do not question the opportunity you are being given! Walk with your head held high, for you are no longer alone.” - Outland Spirit of Fire to Nobundo

“You must forgive them: it has been too long since they have felt the tempering influence of the shaman. They are angry, confused, still reeling from the blow dealt to them.” - Outland Spirit of Water to Nobundo

Fenris Keep and Shadowfang Keep are under Alliance control, specifically by the Bloodfang worgen. Whatever artifacts that could be found in Shadowfang Keep were taken to Fenris Keep to be kept under close guard.

The crushed petals of the Death Lotus flower can be turned into a powder, which itself is a good means to ward off curses.

Good info! Here’s a bit more curse trivia: the Curse of Doom slowly works over time, weakening and harming the victim until they die as the magic gradually grows stronger. It can be slowed, but it can only removed by the one who placed the curse on the victim. So if you get cursed by a warlock and they vanish with no means of reaching them, you’re screwed.

Demon Hunters can have their transformation undone and return to normal (minus eyes) with the Light.

Jace Darkweaver says: Such power! I feel the demon’s essence infusing every fiber of my being!

Vindicator Boros says: I fear for your soul, demon hunter. It’s not too late! Turn to the Light and be cleansed of your corruption!

Jace Darkweaver says: Spare me your platitudes, paladin! Your people know well the horrors that the Legion plans to unleash.

Jace Darkweaver says: The Legion must be stopped, and I will do everything in my power to make it so. NOTHING is more important than their destruction!

The dialogue implies that the old short story “Silver Hand, Ebon Blade” is in fact canon. I’m not sure if that was ever in question, but I seemed to recall some discussion on the matter. Anyway it’s a nice 2010 reference to a fan-written story.

Had to dreg up the story from web-archive: http://web.archive.org/web/20111020073159/http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/community/contests/writing2010/
