“Ham with it” means all out?
Yeah
Hello. I am uncertain if these are known facts but I’ve just gotten back into roleplay and as such, I’ve read a lot of lore lately. You know, trying to catch up on it all.
During my questing, there was an NPC in the Outlands (Honor Hold) that referenced a newspaper ingame, named the “Gadgetzan Times.” If you read through some of the articles posted there’s some cool tidbits, one in particular being that Gadgetzan is apparently massive, and known as one of the greatest goblin cities.
Was interesting to hear, my guild (The Holy Order of Lordain/esarus.net) were there recently, and if I had known this prior to the events held in its vicinity, the roleplay would’ve definitely been slightly different.
All in all, would recommend reading through it!
Gadgetzan is massive
Shortly before the Destruction of Theramore, Jaina Proudmoore sent the Starsword full of Theramore civilians to Gadgetzan.
By the time of the Cataclysm, the city had greatly expanded and it was described to contain winding and labyrinthine streets full of almost every known race to the human Aramar Thorne, and even a new west gate for the city.
Faeyrine Springsong, a druid of the Cenarion Circle, lives here, and the author of Common Birds of Azeroth , the goblin Charnas, has his shop in the city.
And ofcourse Hearthstone lore (which is sadly not-canon, or not entirelly anyway as Tortollan were Hearthstone only until BfA).
Gadgetzan is described as having massively expanded from a small desert town to a large, bustling port city following the flooding of Tanaris during the Cataclysm. Three major crime families rule the back alleys of the newly expanded Gadgetzan: the brutish weapon smugglers of the Grimy Goons led by the cunning and powerful Don Han’Cho, the mystical assassins of the Jade Lotus led by the young and clever Aya Blackpaw and the outcast spellcasters and potion-peddlers of the Kabal led by the mysterious and intelligent Kazakus. Besides these three, there are also some minor factions active in the city, such as the “quilboar biker gang.”
It is one case where I wish Hearthstone was canon.
Unfortunately, since the game of Hearthstone exists in the WoW lore, it’s probably no more accurate than the game of Dungeons and Dragons is to real life.
In the case of Gadgezan, its size is canon, it’s just that the gangwars probably aren’t.
If blizz ever run out of patch ideas though, they could do worse than dropping us onto the Mean Streets for a while, player choice for which gang to join up with, 3 way pvp, land ownership progression with buffs/rewards, etc.
Might make a decent Epic Battleground if their servers could support it.
Golems are a girl’s best friend.
Anyway! A lore tidbit!
The remote plains of Desolace were once home to a unique breed of horse too proud and wild to countenance riders. Yet it is precisely this willful conceit that enticed the elders of the Shadow Council to bind these majestic steeds to their service with dark rituals too horrific to perform by any but the most depraved of warlocks. Although they retain their imposing forms, these newly-christened felsteeds have become twisted with infernal energies, treading flames and breathing fire. Where their eyes once shone with exuberance and a zest for life, they now burn with hatred for the warlocks who corrupted them and anguish at the passing of the lives they once knew.
It seems Kalimdor once had its own population of horses, but they were corrupted by the Shadow Council!
Had no idea about this. Very interesting to learn!
