Maybe it’s just me here, but I’m now around Lv.40 on my Horde Rogue and so far the game feels… well… rather lacklustre when it comes to dungeon drops for Rogues. We’re clearing each dungeon multiple times to ensure our group for fully kitted from each one but as far as Rogue specific drops they are few-and-far-between. Everyone else is rocking these awesome statted blues yet I’m still rollin’ in Lv.2x greens… have I just been unlucky in getting Rogue gear during dungeon runs or is it pretty much the way Classic is with very poor item availability for the Rogue class?
Could be worse. You could be playing priest and not having any choice of wands, which is priest’s main source of damage. Then when by some miracle wand drops, mage or warlock needs on it.
When there are too many drops, all of them become irrelevant and players don’t even remember their names. Just look at retail as example.
Not all dungeons drop loot for each class. Install the AtlasLoot addon and you’ll get an overview over what that actually drops. For instance; Shadowfang Keep is mostly caster gear with some strength gear.
Just go every dung once for quests. No point runing it over and over for drop that you will replace next day… As rogue, most of your gear comes from quests anyway (like swords, you get first from BFD quest, then SM, RFD and mara which stays with you till 60, boots from ashenvale quest, pants gnomeregan quest…).
The itemization during vanilla was lacklustre for some of the classes. I remember using the Herod shoulder for over 10 levels as a shaman because there were no shaman shoulder drops after that until around level 55. It’s a hump you have to climb over unfortunately.
Nothing about that is unusual. In fact, what is unusual is you got rid of it so soon. Vanilla itemisation was weird, but good blue drops could be competitive, even after many, many levels.
I just quested and did only dungeons to take a break from questing or when i wanted to get the load of xp from the dungeon quests. Don’t waste your time running dungeon unless you do it to grind for xp and enjoy it more than quests. I remember doing several mara runs to get my rogue gear that was later just replaced anyway. It is not worth it, do the qeusts and you will get decent gear, a blue item doesnt mean it’s good, the color of an item describes the rarity of the item meaning a green may aswell be better than an epic.
I think it’s the same for everyone actually, it’s just there are more intel / cloth options because there are more classes requiring those stats. I’ve been using the same dagger / sword for 10 levels now and I run everything. I think there might be a wep in gnommer but I find it best not to target specific items because they can drive you nuts at this level Run everything, do the quests and don’t disregard buying a good crafted green from the ah too! I bought my pearl handled dagger at 18 or whatever and been using it ever since!
