I never played real classic, however I did play tbc, woltk, and there was no low level npcs calling for 10 level 55 guards, I walked past redridge cause I had to go to Burning Step, and the npcs called for 5 level 55 guards, THAT was not in TBC nor Woltk, what the heck? that will kill any world PVP cause that will summon toons of them, blizzard u gotta fix that…no silly bfa changes ty.
Yeah, happened to me when I walked past Duskwood to get to the Swamp, they summoned so many guards, that never happened that was put into the game in Cata I believe
Back in woltk a level 30 horde could kill guards in Goldshire, I saw streamers having a raid in Undercity, and it was crowded with 55 guards being summoned, this is stupid r.i.p world pvp I guess.
if your going to the burning steppes id go trough badlands then trough BRM its a safer walk realy

That’s not the point, the point is that the low level npcs calling out for 5-6 level 55 guards was not in old school wow not even wrath of the lich king, that should not be in classic at all.
IIRC Guards were being CONSTANTLY changed in Vanilla… like, every patch they would be changed, so its hard to remember exactly what they were like off the top of my head in 1.12
I remember quite well it was not like this in woltk, there was low levels farming Goldshire for the fun of it.
This was a thing in Vanilla. It never ruined PvP then, so why would it now.

It was not in early stages of vanilla. Not sure if it was in 1.12.
For example quest Helcular’s Revenge where you have to go to Southshore graveyard as horde player is impossible with 55 normal guards + 55 elite guards.
In vanilla guards in southshore were level 45. In classicdb comments nobody ever says anything about 55 elite guards which spawn constantly if you go close to any city npcs.
I also imagine that because the Tarren Mill guards are now level 45, the Southshore ones are aswell. This makes it easier to complete this quest as the guards will have a lower aggro range (i’m level 34 and got to the graveyard and completed the quest without getting any aggro). I also think they lowered the density of the guards around the graveyard.
The guards were nerfed back to level 45 and the whole east side of South Shore is empty of guards.
Guards shouting for further mobs to assist has always been a thing but only near major hubs did they call for guards to appear from nowhere. I got smeared outside Lakeshire early vanilla because of it, when trying to get to Kargath from STV. Utterly swarmed by 55 elites.
There never used to be high level guards in Southshore, especially not next to the shore by the graveyard which was completely clear, as the grave is super close to the shore-side. I believe they were as you said 45 except for two NPC’s who were 55 elites but never ever was there one on the bank of the river like there is now.
In vanilla, when ever you breezed past an alliance town or god forbid a city!
There would be a few lines of “Goibon Uden Lo!” (Guards Help Me!) and then we ran away fast.
It never stopped anyone from gathering 40+ people and slapping Bolvar around a bit.
