I actually read the following : “and very recently SPriest” as in, on the top
DPS tier lists are irrelevant and do more harm than good
Decent AoE? xD I guess you’re the one who hasn’t played BM since BFA. Our AoE is tragic and this has been the problem of this specialty since the beginning of SL. While ST is indeed one of the best, AoE is probably one of the worst (if not the worst).
To match the overall dmg to other classes/specializations in M+ our two AoE skills - Beast Cleave & Kill Cleave should be increased by 20, maybe even 30%. At the moment, without the support of good cleave characters in the team, BM has gigantic problems to make M+20 (I don’t mention higher ones) - because it significantly stands out in AoE situations.
As for me, they should reduce ST for us a bit and significantly improve AoE.
What kind of aoe dps do you typically see that you think is tragic?
The aoe is not awesome but it is nothing to think it is tragically bad either.
But regardless the point of that post was and is that ALL 3 dps specs of Hunter has Blood lust and can use it.
It is not it is reduced damage at 5 or 8 targets.
multishot is uncapped but it is not the main source of damage in aoe.
In Algeth’ar Academy MM will do more damage as Explosive shot is actually uncapped aoe.
BMs AoE on 3-5 mob pulls is pretty bad but they’re also effectively uncapped unlike a lot of other specs which makes them better than MM for somewhere like Algeth’ar Academy.
The spec itself is also doing very high single target. Gotta get your Rasz bow though.
Fair, i saw the . As , my bad
Oooh thought it was exotic pets only as i thought it was still tied to core hound. My bad haha
I forgive you dear monk!
Spriest was also kinda catapulted to the top by a bug with the spell void tendrils that turned them into a 20 second duration Legion-SL binding shot on a 1 minute cd. This trivialised multiple difficult pulls in high keys, such as the last pull of Jade Temple.
The bug has since been fixed, so while I expect the spec to still see a lot of play for the numbers it puts out, the utility outside of bursting weeks is honestly kinda meh.
Maybe I’ve got my wires crossed but whenever I’ve done AA with the hunter I typically play with (In 23-24s) he’s gone BM “Because the pulls are big”
I don’t play the spec so I’ll gladly be wrong, that’s just how I interpreted his reasoning.
He also did like 700k on the flower pull in tree room last week.
So meh, that they’ve seen play in the MDI time trials …
As has feral druid and unholy DK. Speed running 21s and key pushing are, and continue to be, two very different things. Shadow’s very strong right now, I’m just personally over having a garbage interrupt and an AoE stop thats target capped at 5 and therefor unreliable as hell.
Yesterday we wiped in a 25 RLP to a cast going off in the first pull because I feared to interrupt it and it feared 5 other things in the pull instead. That’s stupid.
Absoloutly… but let be fair… only what 3-5% of players do 20s… every spec works for that just fine…
Sure, when we get to the very high keys, the meta matters… but why should the 99% of players, that dont do that content, care about what the top does. It’s madness that they even let that influence them.
if you compare 2 classes and one does 30% more damage than others, then chances are (outside of few builds that are mechanically demanding) that that advantage comes from the class design, environmental aspects or anything else thats completely independent of individual players ability.
If this is the case, the same advantage would show on any level, not only the highest key, and as such it makes sense to make use of it even if youre not in the absolute top.
People keep saying that every class is capable of doing keys up to 20+, but its essentially a moot point, because it says nothing about how much effort it takes on one class compared to other, or how much individual ability it requires. And if the discrepancy is high compared to meta classes, it still makes sense for an average Joe to go meta and have some extra dps/ survivability for free thanks to the class they play.
I tried to do a +20 HoV on fortified, we started at +22. Idk if I was doing something wrong or if the hunter was doing something wrong but he went down like a rock every time there was something damaging him, like, legit barely had time to react before he died at some points.
Whoever creating these tier lists are completely clueless about the game.p
It’s statistical.
Obviously rogues and enh are gonna be on top, they have a ton of utility.
they’re based on stats of players who run high keys
I think it only considers +20s, below that mark i’d say everything can work, some specs are almost mandatory for some dungeons due to some boss mechanic like last boss on TOJS but i still managed to heal it without a warlock.
What lies beneath is more than the raw numbers, at some percentile some specs are outliers, idk but maybe BM is the best hunter spec for “low” keys because its easier and has less skill ceiling whereas some specs when played flawlessly can provide better numbers or utility, being the player aware of the potential pitfalls.
I honestly find this kind of rankings more accurate that anything that takes logs into account, or statistics from ANY key, because that is completely biased, but if you just look for 25+ keys you start so see some patterns and they are there for a reason.
For 99% of wow pop tho i’d say tank is the most relevant choice, warrior being slightly above the average, i find DKs a bit unsatisafying to heal because of the health bumps they usually have that give you a hearth attack but the other specs are still somewhat viable and pretty much balanced across them.
Can’t judge healers because i’m healing, DPS i’d say they’re more balanced with just a few outliers.
