Nonsense, I played back then, this character is ancient.
You can compare with end of Dragonflight prices, it’s still drastically cheaper to have raided in Cataclysm. This idea that it was expensive to play back then is entirely in your mind.
What did you buy tokens for? I honestly don’t understand it. I ended WOTLK with like 80k gold and I didn’t do AH stuff or anything in particular. And I raided every week, full consumables. I entered every raid with 4 stacks of food, 4 stacks of haste + armor pots, a stack of flasks and 4 stacks of sappers/saronite bombs.
Every raid I was juiced, I had full BIS gear and paid for all my own enchants and gems. You literally just played the game, did cooking/fishing daily, some daily dungeon quests here and there, whatever. Gold income was great.
In Cata it was the same but better again because they massively buffed daily gold, max level quests/dailies give 50g + each.
Literally no idea how you come to this conclusion.
Leveling one profession from 0 to max was 15-35k, count the tokes for 7-10k each.
Flasks, choose your prices.
Valor boots 10k.
Like I mean… I literally had to buy more tokens on Cata and didn’t make ANY money from dungeons or raiding. I was not only losing money, I also had to cash. Now I am chill. I don’t need token and I am getting money, while actually playing dungeons and raids.
Consumables and professions rofl. They were HELLA expensive, especially on Cata release. No clue how you missed that.
I levelled Blacksmithing x1 + Engineering x2 on Cataclysm launch for both my Warriors, mined while levelling and in the cave for a bit in Twilight Highlands at 85, barely spent anything, most expensive thing was the gems required to make the engineering helms for both my chars.
My gold in Cataclysm after launch and professions was higher than it was on WOTLK launch, I just logged in now for the first time in ages because of this thread and I’m on 89k gold, that’s after having obviously spent some gold on profs and gearing.
I’m understanding why you have no gold. You’re the kinda person to just go buy all BOE’s and then you don’t earn any passive gold by playing the game either, so you run dry. I have the valor boots, I farmed the valor myself on an alt.
But that problem doesn’t get better in TWW because crafting is even more expensive than that, adjusting for inflation, and enchants/consumes are completely out of this world.
I didn’t level anything myself, was buying almost everything at auction house, unless I got something on my way. Tailoring I couldn’t even finish because people started tripping with frostweave cloth. I had to spend 10k only on this alone, since you needed a lot, at least according to my guide. The only way would be an INSANE grind.
That’s why I said 15-35k, depends on the time frame. I just stopped it. Now count this in contrast to the token prices, let’s say 10k… that means retail enchantment has to cost what? 450k - 1 mil gold?^^
Wrong, I didn’t buy, the token was not worth it for me. I just know the price because it was spammed in the chat 24/7 as you know. Also, I sold mine like few days before I quit.
Idk how you view it. For me I have easy way making money in dungeons and if I somehow will need a huge amount of money for whatever reason, I can buy ONE token and actually be good until the end of the expansion. In Cata you were not even raid ready with one.
How are you going to be good for an entire expansion in TWW on 300k gold? Lmao. 10 hours of raiding is 40k gold in flasks. That’s like 3 raids, not including combat potions or any other consumable. A weapon enchant is over 20k gold, that’s not including neck sockets, chest/leg enchants.
Crafting right now is upwards of 70k for one item, that’s just this season, you gotta pay to have it recrafted or craft new ones next season, maybe even this season if you craft 619 stuff like many people, because you will wanna update. In Cataclysm I could play the entire expansion and passive income would cover everything, it already saw my gold increase from the end of WOTLK and I’ve done nothing but play the game, no AH.
Random DF daily gold in TWW is 140g
In Cataclysm it’s 111g
But Cataclysm gold is worth 10x that of TWW. Cataclysm gold income from playing the game relative to the costs to is so much higher than TWW it’s laughable. Infact, the only thing really driving the gold token cost in Cataclysm is GDKP, where items can sell for hundreds of thousands of gold, idiotic P2W players.
Because I get more gold from doing 1-2 heroics daily, for the bag while barely have to spend anything. My gold goes simply up.
Na, the silver quality one was 300g, now it’s ~600g. Meanwhile you don’t even really need them. I only pop one if I feel like it. Or like today when we had a 588 pEvoker in the group.
As a healer I don’t need a combat potion. I am not tryharding like that and feast is being provided by the guild lead since we are selling boe’s that drop.
Ye and I make around 8k? something like that a day in 30 minutes (usually less), running 2 heroic dungeons. Sometimes more if I have nothing to do.
One raid is 3 hours for us, that’s 1,8k gold right now, was less few days ago.
I don’t need questing, any dailys or life skilling at all.
Idk, I didn’t craft anything yet. No need for it, I just do a +7 if I need an item.
Only 2 items I crafted, were 2x 610 items for my shaman, which cost me around 10k each (incl. 5k tip).
Well, I didn’t play WotLK. I started Cata and there was literally no money from anything. Everything costs, so I bought a token and it was… horrible. I basically got nothing for that gold.
Well, we both don’t play the same. I don’t do dailys or anything, I don’t like questing or professions or what else is there in the game. I am a simple man, I just do my dungeons and chill. My income is much higher than on Cata and my costs are barely existent. I guess that’s why we have a different opinion.
I was already ready to puke when I saw how much money I will need to level a profession from 0 through auction house. Unfortunately, I checked it a bit too late.
My income on Cata was what? Like… doing PvP and selling a freaking gem? That’s like 70g or something for hours of playing? Obviously not efficient at all but I was playing what I like and trying to get a bit of money somehow.
On retail I am free from all that. I play what I like, I am not forced into doing anything I don’t want, I have zero gold issues and don’t need to spend much and can still perform properly without feeling like I am falling behind.
Yet you felt the need to spend 10k gold in Cata on valor boots that you could farm yourself for free?
Well if we’re talking cheap non min-max flasks, you can find the equivalent in Cataclysm for effectively nothing, 1g or less even. 75g (which accounting for inflation is vastly cheaper than TWW) is for the premium raid flask.
Accounting for inflation, the gold you get in TWW for doing HC’s is less than a dps earns in Cata for doing the daily heroic.
Then why are you talking about combat potions in Cataclysm? They are only 4g by the way, one daily quest would pay for 12+. One “gold” specific world quest in TWW would pay for 1.
Aside from the 54g per quest hand in, yeah “nothing”
JWC daily x2, raid money, valor emblems all add up. I’m going up in gold. Only issue is token went from 10k to 30k so I’m not really going up fast enough to buy tokens right now.
No. That’s just something you assumed even tho I explicitly said that I never bought them but sold them before I quit lol^^
Right here:
What is the equivalent? Is it like 0,1% difference? Because iirc Cata flask was primary stat, while TWW flask i secondary stat. But then again, do you really need to min max on TWW? I am playing with bunch of friends pulling ~98% logs, I am not going for world first or anything, not having these ~200 secondary stats (which is barely anything) is not killing us.
Idk about that. What was the daily in Cata? Like 180 gold or something? I think your math is off on this one. Let’s take weapon enchant that you said is 1k on cata (and we ignore it’s now and not start of cata), that’s about 6 (5,5) dungeons and if I remember correctly, this reward is limited for 7 dungeons per week, no? I can get 6k gold out of one bag. Guess we could say it’s about the same at this point, except that I am not really limited in this income and TWW prices are season-start-prices.
Well because I don’t need them in TWW but needed them in Cata. Healing raids was horrible in Cata with low gear. But you can drop it, doesn’t matter. When you are speaking of daily quests, what quests are you speaking of?
I mean it was nothing. You just compare today’s prices. Come few months back and you will see there is no weapon enchantment for 30k on TWW too^^
What can I say, I do significantly less on retail than I did on cata and I have less troubles. Also the dungeon speed on Cata at the start is nowhere comparable to the dungeon speed of heroics on retail right now. I think this is another valid aspect.
And finally no professions required for PvE and PvP. Automatically a winner. I’d buy 10 token a month just for this change.
Like right now? Because my gold back then was simply going down, down, down down…
Apart from all the calculations and arguments like “obviously Blizzard wants you to buy Tokens”, I too think m+ doesn’t drop enough gold but not because I don’t have enough gold… It just feels weird to do a really hard dungeon, barely timing it and all you get is 55gold at the end.
Item drops are somewhat rare… 1 item every 4 to 5 dungeons on average if I’m not mistaken. Running 4 high-octane dungeons, sweating like crazy to be rewarded with… 55gold… feels a bit… off.
Oh yeah at this point I do so too but it still feels off. You would assume that killing high threat targets on incredibly high difficulties would yield an adventurer/hero more gold than… picking up an herb he found somewhere on the ground…
This is a sensible solution, yes. I’m not saying I’m expecting high gold rewards either. But having this miniscule amount of gold drop on high difficulties doesn’t really vibe with an “RPG”. It just doesn’t make sense within the game world.
Rather remove the gold completely, yes. 55g is a joke anyways.
I think what players need to do is to actually tackle content without the use of those expensive consumables. Outside of pushing for rating, I would suggest not using something that will set you back in your bank.
