M+ healer question

is there any healer you can play in m+ that doesn`t require you to do damage? I want to be a healer healing people and not be doing damage, thats why I play healer not dps…

Not at any decent key level. Its same with tanks and pretty much everyone .

As a tank, your job is to tank and survive, once survivability isnt issue , you should opt full into dmg .

As a healer, there are momenta where u dont have to heal, so u dmg, or would u rather just stay there and meditate while rest of group does the job ?

Its quite huge difference if your healer has 3k or 20k dps while still keeping party alive and doing his job .

just play druid. so you will get good groups.
and dont care about this noobs who want healer to do damage. they have no clue.

lawl, you really went there?

OP, you can play any healer without doing damage. Not doing damage when people are at full health makes you a bad player in M+.

if he will be at higher skill level and hes teammates allso on full HP XD

what to do ?
maby cast this moonfire on boss :stuck_out_tongue:

or maby he have a quest to complete game by not harming anybody like desmond doss xD

answer is no and you honestly dfont want to do that anyway.

but classes like druid/holypriest/restoshaman doesnt NEED to do damage to heal. so technically you could just stand afk when there is nothing to heal. but why on earth would you wanna do that.

Healer damage seems quite a lot less important this expansion to me. Tanks and DPS just deal so much more damage in comparison. Also, a lot of mechanics are really deadly this expansion, so it’s more important to focus on keeping everyone alive, rather than gaining a few more DPS.

But I agree that if the healer doesn’t have anything else to do, they should deal damage, and all of them are able to do that.

No. As people have already said standing there and doing nothing when no heal is required really doesn’t help

Just pug, then you will not even have time to do damage

ok… there are bad classes and miserable talents. unfortunately fact!
but why should the healer compensate ridiculous dps from dds?
and the healer does blatant damage or what? ROFL!

I’ve had strange runs where healer was offline. example would be shadow +18 a few days ago. here i healed and tanked 3 last bosses in time. in the end we laughed.
but even here it never occurs to me that extremely small dps from healer would bring anything. much more important is that all dds have maximum life.
and prefers the healer to focus on game mechanics and stay alive himself.

maybe out of boredom. the problem is that he should constantly keep an eye on the group. if you try out all the roles, you’ll quickly notice that the reaction time is about 1 second… because the group sometimes drops extremely quickly.
as a pala tank i can compensate with top heals. but with other tanks you have to be extremely careful. in particular, most healers have lousy healing for higher keys.

no joke lol.
but I like that too. because in the end you play much better than noobs from youtube guides.

To be prepared for idiots not moving out of avoidable damage?

Shaman has some interesting synergies between damage and healing spells, like Lava Shock increasing the damage done or amount healed by your next spell. Blizzard themselves incentivise you to play around with damage spells at least to some extent.

Healers that do not need to do damage would probably be Holy Priest or Resto Druid. Monk and Disc Priests need to do damage to do healing, Paladins are heavily incentivised to do damage, and Shamans have a couple of synergies with damage spells. The only healers that can just stand back and do nothing all day long are Holy Priets and Druids I think. Although with Druid you could maybe fuss around with HoTs the entire time so you don’t appear to be afk

But what do those people who don’t want to do damage do when there is nothing to heal? Stand around and admire the scenery?

u can easily play without that talent, its literally only used to deal more dmg, not really heal more.

at high enough key level idiots not moving out of avoidable damage will get oneshot, so either way youll have nothing to heal

You don’t mention any key levels, but assuming you are going to “stay in your lane” and would be doing easy/low keys then your dps probably wont matter and you can do what you want.

But the expectation for healer DPS in higher keys is just as it does have an impact, even if its only encounter by encounter (just looking at details overall does not really indicate the true value of healer dps during a run).

My personal opinion though is that it is just lazy to not contribute damage when there is nothing to heal. Most of the time it is tanks taking damage and they dont need healers to babysit them with spam heals.

It works both ways, because doing low enough keys mechanics dont hurt that much, and youll have not much healing to do unless the team is extremely bad.

Thats why I can never understand why people want so much to get out of their way to not press some buttons, when in reality all it does is to keep you busy so that you dont get bored.

Imagine if you played a tank, then refused to use your damage skills after the initial getting enough aggro, and just stood there taking hits and doing nothing. How boring would that be ?

Some people are just stuck in the past of “traditional” healing and its fine if they are doing easy/relevant content for that.

To each their own.

This thread topic pops up every few days, honestly if they want to just heal bot they should just go ahead and do it, noone is forcing them especially after the key starts. Posting here with it is either looking for people to agree with them or argue with, it isn’t leading to anything meaningful. Maybe they think its a hot topic and will set people off.

Its a slow Saturday morning for me though so I replied. Its not going to make a difference for anyone or change OPs mind

Honestly any of them. Sure you’ll get some people complaining about it, since none of the healer classes are actually designed to only heal, but they won’t kick you after key began, so you do you. I have had keys where I realized only at the end that there are only 4 people showing up at the end in Overall damage in Details, never noticed mid run, but then I haven’t done very high keys. Now that I’m the healer, I always wanna do something so I just throw out my 2 button rotation of which one is on a 30s cooldown as Prevoker and all is well.

Just don’t use damage spells/cc/interrupts. Take all the damage. You’re the healer.

You’ll be having a really hard time on Discipline Priest or Monk though. On both you most likely will not be having a lo of fun if you decide to never touch a damage ability.
