Most abilities are deflected.,the others are only damage reduction.
It doesn’t clean your dots (and it’s a real shame, especially for those that are fatal).
Let’s say ONLY partial immunity.
Nothing to compare with the mage’s ice block or the paladin’s shield.
These are real immunities, not hunter’s turtle.
You are the most negative person i’ve ever seen LMAO.
You could also say ‘nothing to compare against the other 9 classes who don’t have an immunity like us’, but instead you manage to turn it into a negative, very impressive. And in some cases, turtle is far better than ice block too.
I clarified by saying that it is not an immunity on par with the ice block and the paladin shield that ALWAYS save your life when used but simply a partial immunity.
Frankly, I don’t understand why you label me “the most negative person i’ve ever seen”
And of which most of them have much better defensive cds, including cures over time
But where, when?
I prefer 100 times the mage’s ice block over the hunter’s partial immunity.
How ridiculous is this situation…
Well between the doomer threads you make every few days, I would love for you to be able to name one thing you think hunter is really strong at? Just curious.
Raid example: Soaking zskarn bombs.
Dungeon example: Clearing mushrooms, underrot 3rd boss.
Because Jerby belongs to the ‘x class is perfect and anyone who claims otherwise must be accused of being a doomer’ club. What they generally mean is ‘the class I play is kind of OK, and I’m terrified that any changes will make it worse, so I’ll argue any time someone says something could be improved’.
What would these famous “doomer threads” I make (maybe opened) every few days?
Are you freaking out?
“Really strong”?
It’s a big word.
Given that it brings with it a whole series of problems, and the common perception towards this class is negative, I could say that the only positive aspect is that it launches the skills in motion .
I might add that the general dps is quite good but it doesn’t shine at all.
Nothing else
What does this have to do with defensive cds?
Thank you for proving my point. You couldn’t say a single positive thing without also saying 3 negatives literally in the same sentence.
What do you soak them with?
I’m trying to learn and make my brain work here …
Let’s say I “Turtle Powa” with a DoT/bleed on me, can I use Exhilaration while under my shell to mitigate said DoT/bleed, by getting a bit of healing done while reducing the DoT already there and not taking more incoming damage for 8 seconds ?
Combined with the Spirit Mend of a Spirit Beast pet (my dear Gara), it might be possible to survive, but I guess that really depends on the size of those damage ticks.
Still, I’m learning, and I already used some of the things I got from this thread ingame, with positive results.
I… don’t think Jerby belongs to ‘X class is perfect’.
They have stated time and again - and again - in this thread alone that Hunter is not perfect, quite average, not the best performer and could use some help. They have however stated that the class can perform just as well, and requires some thought-put, knowledge and respect.
You can even see some of these posts reflecting as such just by scrolling.
Honestly, it’s a breath of fresh air compared to the doom speech many class forums have been experience as of late.
There’s a nice, healthy merit to looking at the positives at what classes can do rather than what they don’t do…
Well, I’m not the original target, but :
Crowd Control with the Freeze, Tar Traps.
Incorporeal is a non-Affix if the PUGhell keeps in mind the CDs of 30s for Freeze and 1 minute for Intimidation (rather than staying in constant combat like the last BH I did, with the worst possible route activating all the hidden ambushers too, there was a moment where we had 3 sets of 2 Incorporeals, and I was alone in trying to deal with them).
Able to do damage from range AND close.
Able to GTFO when (like me) you learned that it’s better to be anywhere else than in puddles, cleaves and AoEs, while still maintaining constant if below average damage (and a mage jumping out of dodge with a Blink does ZERO dps during that time).
And of course, the most often cited reason why I’m accepted in PUGhell, the Talent that everyone loves : Bloodlust.
Of course, this is said from the point of view of a rather noobish Beast Master Hunter, and YES, I know I still have lots to learn.
Yep, but the better option is to pre-turtle whatever is putting a bleed on you to prevent it entirely.
And another thing not even mentioned in this thread that is very important to survivability is good use of feign in m+. You can feign off a ton of mechanics, particularly on trash. Would suggest having a good weakaura that pings you when you are targeted by spells, and even many boss abilities you can feign to prevent/put on other people if you have nothing left to live.
Thank you friend. I think it’s important to combat these kind of things here because the average battle net forum browser is far more casual, and players are going to be put off playing a class they like by people dooming about a class that can complete 99.999% of content in the game just fine.
Honestly, it has been a blast. I’ve never been highly influenced by the meta and more about what I love to play.
Seeing others feeling the same way brings a nice sunshine.
We know Hunters are not in the best place they can be right now, but that won’t and hasn’t stopped people before.
That is something I’m still learning.
I do use, or even overuse, Feign Death (with a macro that also make my pets fake death), but I’m afraid that Weak Aura gets me nauseous, while DBM does the same thing (“you are the target” with a smooth French female voice) without having to take several program language courses and a couple of hours figuring how to adapt those … things … to my screen size and interface.
That Feign Death macro is one of the reasons I often find myself the last one standing in 12~14 keystones, when I see both Tank and Healers down I drop to the ground, wait a couple of seconds, jump up, Camouflage, then try to rez everyone with my engi gadgets (that fail, DangFlabbit, then explode killing the freshly rezzed Healer).
Don’ t touch my Hunter !!!
Want another bad thing?
Shall we talk about pet AI?
Better not come on otherwise I’ll become the negative one
Up to now we have talked about defensive cds in terms of survival and you tell me about soaking puddles or cleaning mushrooms??
It’s a different use…
He gave me the opposite impression.
Upon every criticism that has been made of the Hunter, he has always been ready with the machine gun to defend it.
It would be equally positive to bring out the negative sides of a class that has not been taken into consideration by developers for a long time and with the aim of balancing it and making it more competitive.
Negative criticism, if it is constructive, can equally lead to benefits.
Like Don Quixote against the windmills
On paper yes but don’t forget this is not a single player game…
Really?
Look, I get that you’re not enjoying the class and that you have your side to prove it, but there is clarity in perhaps understanding what points are made instead of considering them as ‘machine gun defend’.
They have not said, in any way, that the class is perfect. And that seems to keep getting bought up as a way to combat or mock their points. Like, why?
But this isn’t constructive criticism. We already know the issues and we already know the problems. Where it stops is just that it’s negative.
Constructive negativity would be admitting that the Hunter class does or doesn’t have a subpar defensive, offensive, utility or what have you compared to X Class or Other Class That Is Meta. But then you look at what it can do and how it can combat certain scenarios as explained to make it just as viable, if not better.
Which has been Jerby’s constant attempts so far and I have to say, they make sense.
On the front about Hunters not getting invited, there is also a series of easy solutions to work that out, but that seems to be ignored heavily for some god-awful reason.
And no, to clarify, please do not look at my post as if I am an inglorious Hunter defender. That’s not how this works.
I would do the same to any class I choose to play.
You got so much patience lol
Where abouts are you having problems with pet AI? Any specific examples so we can workout how to solve it? I prefer to problem solve than just complain as you know.
Yep, using your own defensive to save the entire raid/party is a pretty effective use of defensives, you could almost call it…gasp…utility xd
I have pointed out both negatives and positives of hunter, you struggle to do anything but negative, that’s the difference.
This is the most correct statement you have made this entire thread. This is the perfect reason for you to go out and find a team to play keys with, to solve almost all of your problems.
We did it!
I have way too much free time and enjoy it way too much
In Uldaman, with speed runs, my pets often get stuck on boulders, walls, anything, and despawn because they are too far from me before the PUGhell reaches the next fight.
Every time the PUGhell decides to jump over a ledge or balcony (Vortex Pinacle, Neltharius), I must revoke them (not instant) then reinvoke them (yay instant) or they will take the stairs and the long way around … if I do anything while they are making their merry way to me, they will aggro everything around them and bring adds on their tails.
By the way, in those two particular instances, there is a speed boost available for everyone in Neltharius (food cauldron), and several speed boosts on the ramps on Vortex Pinacle (those wind swirlies), so jumping down, taking damage, and not being able to do anything if I did not spent 3 seconds to revoke my pets is actually counterproductive … and I’m NEVER allowed those 3 seconds in PUGhell, GottaGoFast y’know.
The solution is indeed to revoke them, then reinvoke, when/if confronted by situations that needs that even though there are built-in workarounds in two instances with ledge hopping, the biggest problem is actually making the speed runners understand that I need to stay static for 3 seconds to revoke them, not even talking about fall damage (that can be avoided by “acrobatic disengaging”, but then that vital nifty bit is on CD, and you have to time it just right or you start the fight at 75% health, or just go splat).
But in Uldaman, even with a “steady and sure” PUGhell, those narrow hallways with junk strewn everywhere get my pets stuck like 60% of the time … again, thank you Basement Cat for instant reinvoke !
Yes,really.
What you call “clarity” I consider it an attempt to defend one’s class, lacking objectivity and critical sense, using, often and willingly, a sarcastic tone, like a superior and that also attacks the way you play.
Where clarity begins and where it ends I don’t know…
Phrase that is the result of a superficial analysis of ALL of the posts contained within the thread and also that puts you in an attitude that is not impartial.
So listing a whole series of weak points of the Hunter is not a constructive criticism because the important thing is "you look at what it can do and how it can combat certain scenarios to make it just as viable, if not better. "?
How constructive is your criticism…
How much sense your interventions make.
That rather than putting you on an impartial footing, you appear to be Jerby’s defense attorney.
It doesn’t seem to me that anyone has made a specific request to clarify Jerby’s comments.
Easy solutions?
You’ve never played the hunter (at least in this expansion) and tell me about easy solutions?
On what basis can you say that the problem can be solved with a simple solution?
Have you tried to find group (premade) with Hunter class to make 22+.
If not, then you don’t even know what you’re talking about.
Yes Sir!
In one word “Stuck”.
Please don’t ask me where, when, how and why…
Even the stones know it by now.
Or that pets suddenly come back while in combat.
Problem that is “solved” by first clicking on the defense button and then on the attack button.
I repeat, utility and survival are two distinct and separate things.
We were talking about survival and not about using defensive cds as a utility for the group.
Don’t climb on mirrors also here.
What is negative about Hunter for you is only marginal.
What is truly known to most Hunters and which is a weakness, is not for you.
This is the difference
It’s not correct.
Not just for me but for all Hunters who want to make higher keys (22+ and above).
And we’re not talking about 25+ but simply M+ where you only see the usual classes in Pug and rarely the Hunter.
