Well, i am not one of those imbeciles who expect from people to have good m+ rating to invite them in low keys.
However, i would appreciate if i can to see if player is familiar with dungeon in general and M1 rating would made that clear.
I think you might be mistaken. While it’s true that many people jump straight into M+2, a lot of players prefer to start with a “World Tour” on M0 first.
Why?
Easy Champion Gear – Every boss in M0 has a chance to drop Champion gear, which provides a helpful boost early on.
Learning the Dungeons – Running M0 allows players to get familiar with boss mechanics and understand how the dungeon functions before tackling higher difficulties. Edit: Forgot to add, also there is no timer to worry about while learning.
I had my ToP+10 turn into +7 yesterday because people who had sufficient rating at all 3 levels kept not killing the banner in boss even though I told them too.
Rating is like IRL qualifications you can get some even if you have zero brain. In the PUG scene it’s luck of the draw, pun intended.
I also almost never do m0 as there is no incentive for players to stay if they get/don’t get the loot they wanted from a specific boss.
There is no downside it’s just that there is also no punishment for blowing up a +2.
I joined a +2 Workshop and ended up leaving because a Balance Druid was hating on the Resto Druid the entire run, then they hated on me so I said “You tank it then” and left.
It was my first time in Workshop and I joined a +2 so that I wouldn’t be putting anyone’s key at risk. I would have used my own key if it had been Workshop.
+2 of course. However, i had people applying for my m4 without having rating in that dungeon.
If they had m1 rating i would invite them, because why not
I start with m0, then gradually move up by completing each key on X, then X+2, X+4 etc., it allows me to learn the dungeon and avoid silly mistakes on higher levels at basic mechanics.
Got most of the KSM, and even few KSH this way.
Haven’t even tried S1, because I didn’t like the idea of learning the dungeon right from old +10.
I never really check that, DPS can be carried so it’s impossible to know if they were the carrier or the carried.
Healers who I invite are usually good too. I imagine you have to be made of very tough stuff to solo apply and heal PUGs so it’s almost guaranteed they’ll be good.
You cant deplete a 2+ any further. What risk are you talking about? At most, you waste people’s time. Which you also do in a M0 by the way.
Also. M2 has no affixes. And IDENTICAL mechanics to M0. The only difference, 7% more damage and HP. So if you got hit by something that did 100k damage, now its 107k damage. Dont forget that your heath pool is in the millions.
Again. What depletion? You cant deplete a 2+ any further.
That is why nobody goes to M0 other than for gear.
True.
Untrue. If you want gear you go M0. If you want to progress Rio you go M2. You should not do M0 and then M2 to “learn”.
And anyone that does that is wasting his time.
Primarily because many of the mechanics you “learn” at lower levels are not the same ones you have to pay attention at higher levels.
Things that you can ignore in lower levels (like certain casts) you cant anymore in a +7 and above (for example). And running M0 will not show you that. And that is why its a royal waste of time to run M0 to “learn”.
If you want to learn boss mechanics and things like that, it is so much more efficient so simply spend 2 minutes reading a guide in WOWHead, instead of 40 minutes in a M0.
Especially because the WoWHead guides condense all the mechanics into the 1 or 2 things you really have to pay attention to. If you “yolo” an M0 all you see is a disco light show of stuff all around you. And you dont really know what is important, and what is not. Especially for higher key levels.
You could farm M0 first to get a head start on gear, which is what our friend Furryeclipser did. That might be useful, at the price of starting the season “late” and being behind everyone else in RIO, jeopardizing your ability to get invited into groups.
But regardless, that is called progress. And its normal.
If you can time a 2+, you should be able to time a 3+. So you go and try. Sometimes you manage, sometimes you dont. Its the same process everyone has to go through. Dosent matter the level. It can be 2+/3+. 7+/8+ or 16+/17+.
And then you assume that knowing that “fire burns” implies that the player will press the W key and move away. That is not a given.
If you get salty because people “deplete” your keys… then that is M+ for you. Happens at every level. The ONLY way to prevent this is to get someone that is WAY overskilled in +10s and above, that is WAY overgeared for the key itself. Then yeah, you got a 100% chance that he will do everything right.
But again. Why would someone like that go to “progress” keylevels in a +3?
However, an individual that did M0 50 times? Not the right person to guarantee success in your key. The stuff you got to pay attention to in a 4+ is not the same than the stuff you have to pay attention to in an M0.
Better get someone that did 3+ and needs to time a 4+. Because there you can see a “lighter version” of the important things in a 4+, so you know that he has seen it atleast once.
I also fail to see the point of giving M"+" rating to an m0 run? Uda already explained in great detail why people do M0 and its not for some rating. Even the score’s name implies “mythic PLUS score” not “mythic dungeon score”.
If we start sprinkling m+ rating like fairy dust everywhere then maybe WQ rewards should give rating? How about bonus M+ rating points for daily login?
