Mac issues - CRASHING, LAGGING AND STUTTERING AFTER 8.3

I’m having the exact same issue! BFA has played perfectly, including 8.2. As soon as 8.3 drops, it’s permanently lagging and crashing every few minutes. I crashed 3 times in 5 minutes during a heroic warfront which was incredibly stressful. Playing on a Macbook Pro which has no issues elsewhere, so is definitely a Blizzard/WoW problem.

I can confirm that the crashing, lagging and stuttering of 8.3 has gotten even worse since the patch! This is so frustrating, it wouldn’t be half as bad if you could still play the old content and this issue was just with the new content, however, I cannot even fly in Orgrimmar without the game crashing.

I’ve got no energy for this anymore, I’m just so angered by the fact that we are pretty much being ignored.

Good day Tyrskorn,

After applying the latest patch 8.3.0.33115, I noticed the game a little bit showing slower FPS across multiple zones. Also, the game goes to background as I click on Command + Tab buttons.

By the way, I didn’t notice those problems before this time.

Spec:
macOS: 10.15.2
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019)
Processer: 3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
Memory: 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Graphics: Radeon Pro Vega 48 8 GB

Hey all,

Thanks for hanging in there! I just wanted to let you know that we believe we’ve found the cause for these issues and a fix is on the way!

I totally understand it’s a frustrating situation and we really appreciate your help in reporting on the issue as well as your patience while we continue to work on the resolution.

After this was posted a few days ago, I was hoping that once 8.3 actually came out you would have fixed the problem since you believe that you found the issue. I have not been able to update my cloak because of this, I LAG OUT FOR NO REASON, I try to farm the keys but the daily QUEST I LAG OUT.

I have prepaid for this service, I pay monthly for this service and for some reason and again, you believe that you know why I can play because I am on a mac but you wont try to make the change is yet, even for bliz standards. How can we catch up when you dont fix the problem for mac users?

Im having the same issues as most of my fellow Ios users. after every screen freeze i get an option to reload my ‘‘pixel perfect ui scale’’. I dont know if i’m the only one getting this option or not?

The most sad part is that this week is so cruicial for raid & m+ progress since people expect full normal clear buy next week.

my specs on my mac:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) bought it in march 2019.
2,3 GHz Firekjerners Intel Core i5
8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 memory
Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB

This issue is driving me insane. And Blizzard not caring is driving me even more insane.

SInce the hotfix update it seems the crashes are only happening when joining dungeons and battlegrounds. And when the crash happens instead of an entire Mac crash requiring a hard restart (which was happening before the hotfix) now the crashes appear to be client related and tabbing out of the client and closing it allows me to play again without hard restarting. This is still extremely inconvenient and the crashes appear to be more frequent leaving me unable to join dungeons or battlegrounds but thought this might help with future fixes. I must note I have had one crash outside of dungeons and battlegrounds but this was in a populated area and within 10 seconds of logging in after a previous crash.

How I solved it:
I installed windows… i know it’s rather obvious, but yes that works.
It’s a completely idiotic solution, but I have absolutely no faith in blizzard to fix it anytime soon anymore.

When the problem is solved I’ll just delete it and go back full time Mac.

Just to be clear, I have been playing for 6+ hours now without joining dungeons or battlegrounds and have not had one crash. (Joining either requires client restart due to client crash)

Yep same dungeons or bg’s seem to crash it

They are running in circles here providing the same BS answers over and over again. Now they are marking tickets as resolved without any compensation whatsoever.

Blizzard, you should be ashamed, very very ashamed by what you have shown in the last 11 days towards your loyal paying customers.

The same problem with freezing. It became impossible to play in 8.3. The game freezes when there are more players nearby, and then Mac has to be forced to turn off … Until 8.3, I have never encountered this problem. I can’t play normally even on the battlegrounds, not to mention the new raid, which is an integral part of the new content.
The problem has been around for more than a week, Blizzard, please help us!

Nice. I just tried to log in with a no-addons whatever toon and it gets stuck at the loading screen.
This is REALLY disappointing.

Do anyone have any idea of how blizzard is going to compensate us for the lost progression? i really thought that in 2020 it didn’t matter which os one played on.

Same problems here. Game running without problems and suddenly freezes or even crashes computer. Using a Macbook Pro 2017, 8 GB ram, Iris plus graphics 640 and have never had any issues with either WoW or my Macbook before.

Was really hyped about 8.3 but now I think I’ll just wait for Shadowlands, hopefully the problem gets fixed by then

lol the same situation
log in and get freezed then must to turn off Mac…

So I resubbed today for one month because I was really excited about the raid, and of course I could barely raid today. I thought it was something with my mac but then I saw this thread and apparently it’s an issue that hasn’t been fixed for more than a week. I’m normally not the one to complain on the forums but seriously this is the only thing I wanted to do in 8.3 and its the only thing not working. Well, raiding and M+, both not working with the constant freezes and crashes. I can do the horrific visions just fine but even the warfront crashed 3 times for me today.

Yesterday I was lagging for up to 2 minutes every 6 or 7 minutes. Once it lagged once, that was basically it, game over.

Today I braved it and was fine for about 70 minutes. I managed to do dailies, horrific visions, and SHOCk, a M+ (just a +2, I didn’t want to risk too much).

I got cocky and entered the brawl. 90 seconds in I freeze and my Mac reboots. This is the first time it’s rebooted during this whole debacle. Hoping it’s a fluke I go back in the game. Immediately freeze and crash and restart again.

Someone said that these sort of errors may even be long term damaging for the machine. Is there any truth in that? I can’t believe they’re blanket refusing refund when they know the game is unplayable for such a hefty percentage of the playerbase.

Alright so I’m trying to do the Maelstrom HOA scenario tonight and I get the spinning beachball on pulling my first group of mobs. Then the display freezes, BUT I can still click on abilities and have the attack sounds etc play in the background. Switching to window mode and bringing the console log up I see these errors:

World of Warcraft (Metal)

Activity ID: 0 Thread ID 0x3259a PID: 25292
Execution of the command buffer was aborted due to an error during execution.

As I was typing this the mobs respawned in the background and killed my character, even though the display still is completely frozen.

21.5" Retina iMac, Late 2015, Iris Pro 6200, 10.14.6, 16 Gb.

Can confirm this update made it much much worse.

Anytime i drop 4-5 aoe spells, i get a crash for 3-4 min now. Until wednesday I was able to at least do the dailies without crashes, and mythic+ with 1-2 lag spikes ( about 30 sec each)

Now you award 460 pieces from darkshore but i can only see 3 frames on 30 minutes. Every update making it worse now. Im done. Lost 2 weeks of progression thanks to you and now i have to skip assaults too.

This was gonna be the first patch of the expansion where i’d join from the start.

Men makes plans, blizzard laughs  Wish i could refund the whole bfa, mb join back later in shadowlands
