Mac issues - CRASHING, LAGGING AND STUTTERING AFTER 8.3

Im having the same issues as most of my fellow Ios users. after every screen freeze i get an option to reload my ‘‘pixel perfect ui scale’’. I dont know if i’m the only one getting this option or not?

The most sad part is that this week is so cruicial for raid & m+ progress since people expect full normal clear buy next week.

my specs on my mac:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) bought it in march 2019.
2,3 GHz Firekjerners Intel Core i5
8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 memory
Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB

I’ve had a lot of patience here and now it is even worse. People are starting to raid, fighting for spots in rosters - yet cannot engage in any sort of group activity or just being close to other players without getting lagged out, henceforth getting behind on player development, which is at the heart of the entire game at this point…
The only thing that the latest updates have caused, is that it no longer shuts down the computer, but to counter that, we are now experiencing a complete freeze instead of just the game itself.

“Over the last nine months, Activision Blizzard decreased its marketing spending and personnel costs by $130M compared to the same period the previous year.”

I don’t have problems with crashes etc.
I did notice that with patch 33115 the GPU usage went up by up to 50%.
This then leads to thermal throttling.
If you want to know these statistics, open activity monitor and click “Window”->Gpu history.
I also use intel power gadget off the intel website to monitor temperatures and thermal throttling (which is bad and apples fault)

Edit: would like to add that I use a 2017 imac with 580 video card.

It’s still freezing even after the latest patch. I’ll want my money back for this month - I literally can’t play.

I totally feel your pain. All of my (valid) recent tickets were closed without being honored. I received the same “sorry, we can’t do anything about it” answer to all of them. Their behavior is unethical at best and illegal at worst.

Another update is in place, how it it all working for you? Im about to log in and find out. Gonna edit this specific comment as soon as I know more.

EDIT!
What I’ve done after update is complete the daily emissary of Najzatar, with 1 WQ including killing a named mob which flocked 10+ players, no crash / freeze.

With a tiny hope I went into a Vision of N’zoth in Uldum. A place where many players attended with their spells and effects, no crash / freeze. Even when that dark glow effect “u are low on Sanity” appeared no crash / freeze.

BUT - with huge skepticism combined with a little hope I’m continuing. Im atm jumping around inside the Chamber of Heart without any problems.
My next test to see if it works are Island Expeditions, LFR and some 5man dungeons. (Will update within the hour again with experience from IE, LFR and 2-3 five-man dungeons)

EDIT2:
Islands Expeditions - 100% UNPLAYABLE. Got the famous freeze every 1 / 2 pull for 20-30 seconds and couldn’t even engage in any form of combat.

5man content - THE MOTHERLODE - Also here, 100% unplayable. Getting the 20-30 freezes on 1 out of 2 pulls. From start to first boss.

Then its not use to enter LFR.

does it work?

Hello, i’m on an imac and the game has been unplayable since patch came out. So frustrating - have sent 2 tickets and still no response. What do we do? It’s been over a week…

If it’s the update that was released last night it has made things worse for me.

Thank you for doing these tests and feedback. I have been testing this issue in Maelstrom quest you get from Magni for the past week. So far the freezing issue is there for me. Once you pass the first elite mob and go further (where the azerite is shooting from ground) screen freezes for about 10-20 seconds and in worst case there is a complete system crash and in best case the game unfreezes if you manage to change the direction you are looking. So the less graphics intense things and effects on the screen the more stable the game runs. At least this is what I see.

I can replicate this 10/10 cases when doing Maelstrom quest.

The game did not work so it does not work on mac computers, the patch did nothing. I don’t understand how other developers like square enix were able to provide working patches for Final Fantasy XIV and blizzard pretends to do something (joke). Such a problem preventing the game should be fixed in 24 hours.

I would like to ask someone what subscription I can’t use? Will there be any return?

@ Rahek

Cheers man!
The only reason Ive been able to progress the story + lego cloak is borrowing a friends laptop. Im doing the tests so (maybe) a Blizzard employee will read them and maybe coming with a fix soon.

Gonna head back to the Nzoth vision + a crowded WQ just to see if I was “lucky” or if they actually fixed that part of the issue.

Nope, it does not work. I tried to complete Halls of Origination and the screen get frozen before the chapter 7.
My stats:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
2,9 GHz Intel Core i5
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

what are you talking about?

Hi all,

As those of you following along in the US thread may be aware we implemented some attempted fixes already, though it seems the situation hasn’t improved as hoped.

Rest assured work continues on the issue and additional updates will be pushed as soon as they’re ready. Thanks for your continued patience and understanding for now!

For me I can now enter the Siege of Boralus without crashing. However the latency is terrible making it still unable to play decently anywhere especially in the new content. I tried a vision, but due to the lag it lasted about a minute…
Game & Mac did not crash anymore, at least that seems fixed.

Still utter silence from Blizzard about any form of compensation in the near future for lost time & AH gold.

@ Tyrskorn

Thank you for the update. Praying you find the issue soon.

Just joining in here. Good to hear that its being worked on. Im having the issue aswell with both the massive lags (on 8-12 seconds) and worst case my mac crashing. Im leveling a rogue (currently lvl 79) and im experiencing small lags when just questing normally but it really hits when im running dungeons. Usually comes when pulling mob groups or during boss fights. Hope that this will get fixed soon, because at first i thought it was just my computer dying, so ill be happy if i do not have to buy a new one

Mac specs:

Macbook Pro 13-inch 2017
macOS Catalina 10.15.1
2,3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
8 GB Ram
Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 1536 MB

Ok WHEN ?
what’s our compensation ?
For the sub time, for the game time, for the slot we loose, for the preparation you throw ?
Answer now.

My game is freezing but i can still click on stuff and hear sound in the background and now i dont have to fully restart my pc i can just close game anyway to fix that ?
