Mac issues - CRASHING, LAGGING AND STUTTERING AFTER 8.3

so are u tellin me u gonna quit WOW cos your computer cant handle it anymore…??

instead of crying why maybe dont u buy a better computer…??

But if u dont wanna buy a new machine u could always buy a The Razer Core X costs about Euro 300 and the Radeon costs Euro 700.

You can play WoW at MAXED out settings with everything turned on and maxed out and still get way over 60 FPS.

Who is this idiot? OK “Professor Jonathan Von Moneybags”, why don’t you buy everyone all of that, seeing as you have all the cash?!? What a joke!

Why crying when playing on a 10+ years machine?

He started playing in 2008, he didn’t buy his Mac in 2008  you need to read full sentences dude.

Any news whenever we are able to play with Particle Density on?

Hello,

To update the situation here as well for clarity.

We’ve confirmed that this appears to be a driver level bug, which means that we cannot fix it and need someone else to do so, as we don’t create drivers for your graphics cards. We’re telling the GPU to do something it’s supposed to be able to do, but due to a bug with the driver’s coding, your machine is getting into a bad state. We added new particle effects with 8.3, but it’s not the core cause, just the trigger for the driver bug.

Being able to disable particle density is a work around that we put in until updated drivers/a new mac OS build are released which fix the problem so that you all can at least play. We’ve already reported the issue to intel. At this time if you are having this problem, you should disable particle density by following the steps that are recommended here. If we hear that a build of mac OS has been resolved which fixes the issue, we’ll let you know.

The above is how to work around the problem while we work with Intel/Apple on this.

This investigation is for players with Intel graphics cards. Some of the players posting in this thread may have other graphic chips, and your crashes may not be related to what we are investigating at all. If you are using a Mac with a Nvidia or AMD graphics card, we recommend that you try troubleshooting the crash

The manner in which the game interacted with Intel GPUs in 8.2.5 didn’t cause any problems. If the driver bug is present now it was also present back then as I haven’t updated macOS in the interim.

Yes, it’d be nice if Intel patched this, but realistically, what are the chances? Isn’t rolling back- or outright removing the troublesome code from your game a simpler option? And, more importantly, why wasn’t this bug picked up or addressed before 8.3 dropped? The game is, at best, only semi-compatible with Intel GPU-equipped Macs at present. This isn’t good enough.

Okay cool that we got a blue reply and Im glad to hear that you are working with Intel/Apple about this issue. Thanks!

Game play wise, have any one else huge problem playing inside the Eternal Palace? I ofc have the Particle Density off and I can play in almost every zone / instance now. But TEP is unplayable.

Cleared the only trash pack before Lady Ashvane and then froze for the time boss were alive. So a total of 3-4 min freeze, saw boss dead on floor, ended up in loading screen and was removed from the raid.

Right so lets see:
According to many players. they face the same issues on different Windows OS’s or Mac Os’s with many different GPU’s.

Yet Blizzards answer remains, that the issues are caused by driver bugs…
Now I might not be the smartest person on this planet, but I find it hard to believe that the same issues are caused by drivers issued in different OS’s by companies like NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, GeForce etc…

Regardless of Windows or Mac (8.3 Memory leaks - #254 by Ðevølta-blackmoore) and many other threats…

And still all other games or programs have no issues… I guess Blizzard is ahead of its time, calling upon functions that the GPU manufacturers simply didn’t anticipated on fast enough…

I already stopped playing as any ticket, threat (being here or else) is either ridiculed or ignored as being serious enough. Proof in the form of screenshots or videos is not accepted by Blizzard (GM said this as a response to a ticket)

Pointless in providing proof or opening tickets, they do not care nor will provide any form of compensation. Its that simple.

For the nth time… there is a big issue with Intel drivers on newer macOS versions. The Intel/macOS issue affects anyone with that configuration. Not some, not in some scenarios, anyone. This is what Blizzard has addressed in their blue post.

This doesn’t mean other issues in different configurations don’t exist, but they need to be investigated individually unless you are able to find a common denominator, e.g. a specific model of NVIDIA graphic card, Windows configuration, driver version, CPU model or whatever.

This is especially true when others with a similar configuration don’t have issues, meaning the cause of the problem needs to be narrowed down to your specific case.

any fixes or not?

I’ve had the stall music still playing, spinning beachball then total freeze up over the last week. If I leave it the screen eventually turns black then yellow. Only seems to happen in Boralus.

Been playing pretty much non-stop since this hotfix was released. The game is running fine; except for the animations that use "particle density ".

Some of the issues have already been pointed out;

  • Atal’dazar bloodpools
  • Underrot bile from trash
  • Tortollan Seekers calligraphy quests

There are several others which I can’t remember straight away; but the effects in dungeons and raids are a pretty huge deal.

I want to push high keys, I’m working on it, but Atal’dazar (probably +15 and higher ) is pretty much out of the question for me: not being able to see those blood pools lingers the fight a whole lot. Even if someone is marking blood pools for you its often not enough / wastes time.

I’ve been patient about this part for weeks now but it’s increasingly annoying. Hope this gets fixed ASAP by whoever

I totally agree with Slaush above. Game is playable but some affects are just gone and impossible to manage.

In hope to reach Keystone Master this very last season of BFA seems out the window because what Slaush described - the Atal Dazar fire from walls + blood pools on floor at third boss are invis for us.

16 days since a blue post, and he told us as he soon he got any news to share he will let us know, so nothing new in soon to be 3 weeks?

It’s not playable, at least for me. Even tho I run everything on low and disable that particle stuff. Worked fine with medium settings before the update came out. Now it’s just lagging and crashing… Has it been like 3 months now? Would really like to play…

I had no problems prior to the “fix”, now every time I log in particle density is disabled, if I set it to off and then set it to good I get particle density back but having to remember to do it every time I log in is getting old, surely an override could be provided for us who did not actually have issues prior to the fix is possible…

Lost another 8 in a row horrific vision. Already stopped to do the raids. No point. And the answer of the support: we are waiting for developers. I wish those developers when they go to the doctor to receive the same quality in times like these.

Alright, so I noticed that there was suddenly no option to disable particles in game (thanks to a weapon enchant showing up), and apparently Blizz have issued a work-around. Time will tell how effective it is.

I recently got a 30 sec froze and was wondering what its going on once again. I came back to this thread and saw that others, as I saw myself in game that we are no longer available to turn particle density 100% off? The lowest setting is now “Low”

Thanks for that link Kayte, lets hope there is a fix to this soon.

Seriously, Blizzard? New updates delete disabled option and it crashed again. Before was workable (although cant see many area effects ) , but still can play. Now it turns out not playable again (kicked by 2 dungeons now).
