Mac issues - CRASHING, LAGGING AND STUTTERING AFTER 8.3

Has anyone had any luck resolving this so far? Also playing on a MacBook and my screen will freeze for 10-15 seconds before crashing in pretty much any content.

@ Ademola

No tricks are working. The most recent blue response said they are aware of the problem and working on it, so we can only wait for the update.

Figured as much. Just hoping to see a fix before the next reset and release of the raid.

@ Ademola

Indeed. And it doesn’t feel any better either - now when every day matters with the progress of your Lego Cloak and collecting the new 8.3 resources.

I hope we do get some kind of compensation when this ends. Like when WoD released they gave all players a 5 days of free additional game time, as 99% of us Mac users haven’t even touched the 8.3 content at all. Not saying we should get that many days, but…something…

Same issue for me. I will post my specs hoping this can help Blizzard to fix the problem.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
Processor: 3.1 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
Memory: 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB
macOS Catalina version 10.15.2

It mostly happens in Ulduar and Vale, during new content from patch 8.3. It also happened a few times today during Warfront.

I have tried to do what has been explained here: Mac issues - CRASHING, LAGGING AND STUTTERING AFTER 8.3 - #68 by Ixthocaesil
but it doesn’t fix the issue.

Thanks.

Anyone else having the issue that sometimes during a freeze your computer (Macbook pro 13 in this case) just shuts down?

Same problem here, i hope the fix it fast because paying for game that doesnt work on mac lol

you have to kill your cash, interface and wtf foders

This is so frustrating, I can’t even get past step 6 in the Halls of Origination, which means I can’t access any of the new content. I’m also starting to get really concerned the constant kernel panic and crashing of my Mac that WoW is causing is damaging my Mac.

Same problem, macbook pro 2017.

Has a similar issue occurred for a previous patch? If so, in what sort of time frame could we expect to see a fix? Not a programmer myself so I’m not aware of the degree of complexity involved.

and did you read his post?

He literally says they changed the Resolution Scaling. Did you try to adjust that bar? F.e. lowering the %? Swap your resolution and what not?

Of all these posts of “got the prob too” even with the bug reports, barely any actually offer valuable information.

interestingly, I just spent 1 hour playing on my Monk doing the questline to Obtain the cloak etc. and had barely any issues. I log on to my DK (who already has the cloak) and within 1 min my mac crashes… As usual, same error as everyone else… Could it have something to do with the cloak? Would that be odd?

i didnt think about that yet, but actually eazybreezy is right - its even enough If you unequip the cloak … you just found the problem my friend

First u need to set 5k resolution and then set 50% resolution scale - all in wow settings. My fans are running 2200rpm during playing wow but thanks to “Macs Fan Control” which is free app on macOS i can set it to for example 1600rpm during playing so its quieter.

The game is unplayable for me since 8.3 and I don’t have the cloak on any character yet.

Once again I ask…how did a problem of this magnitude slip through testing?

Simple answer, it didn’t slip through testing as it wasn’t tested at all. Only conclusion possible.

Still no solution - so frustrating that they don’t seem to learn from previous mistakes.

I still have a hope that they will fix it but… couple months ago I reported that classic on my macOS crashs randomly and restarts the system (exactly like that issue here). Sent them all logs etc. technical team was looking into it and answered that it’s an Apple problem… Few days ago I found that people on US forum are reporting mine mac issue on wow classic.
Now we have another one with wow retail, I’m afraid that they don’t care much about our platform.

RESOLUTION: To anybody who follows this topic: please be patient. Any of you who are dealing with development know how long tracking down an architectural issue like this, fixing it, testing it, re-fixing it, re-testing it and deploying it can take.

CONTEXT: Trying again with the lowered resolution scaling, and still run into the same issue of a freeze. I am levelling my alt in Highmountain. Definitely no 8.3 artefacts around and still get issues.

INFO: In my logs I see that it is a forced GPU reset. Copy some of the log below:

What Eazybreezy said could be one thing. As I said earlier, as soon you get in “contact / near” something linked / from 8.3 you get these stuttering and freezes.

I don’t have the lego cloak and I cannot get pass stage 6 in the HoO starter scenario of the Black Empire Campaign. So any content / items from 8.3 is making these crashes.
