Macros in Vanilla?

Hey I’m trying to make a macro to equip my dagger in my main hand when I use Ambush, and then reequip my sword. I don’t really know how to make macros and info on the web suggests that the macro commands used in Vanilla might be different than what are currently used on the modern engine leading to two questions.

1. Are the macro commands for Vanilla the same as they were back then or do they use the BfA script?
2. Can someone please tell me how to make this macro or something similar?

/equip Daggername
/cast Ambush (rank X)
/equip swordname

try that. It may not work as changing weapons when in combat might not be allowed.

Update:
To anyone interested in trying this, you have to tap the macro once to equip your dagger, and the second tap casts ambush and equips the sword afterwards.

Feels a bit clunky to me so I might just use two separate /equip macros for now, thanks anyway

thats how marco works. tap 3 times quickly.
Works for weapons only, no other gear change.
For abilities that are not on the same CD will pop up all. e.g. for warrior rend and strike.

I think I’ll just stick to two /equip macros then to toggle between my dagger/sword main hand more manually. Spamming the button three times is slightly annoying
