Mage vs Warlock. I cant decide

What im after is something with fun\chill solo gold farming capabilties, fun both pve and pvp. And uses spells too deal the damage.
(i know there is boomkin and Spriest but mage\wlock seems more fun and fresh at end game, and if they add TBC and dont do a “clean slate” ) .

What attracts me with mage is their High dmg, mobility, quality of life stuff and easy way to make friends.
What attacts me to the Wlock is the drain tanking, sustained dmg and not much hard focus on Resources management, and dabble is “dark arts” identity.
Gotten both too 24 and im 100% stuck …

I havent been end game classic since vanilla and back then i was a human pala… and that was it. So i dont actually know how it is to be A or B (or M or W as it is).
Looking for input to help me decide.

Easy question to ask and even easier to answer. Mage. lol

How/where do you want to do your gold farming? If you just want decent gold farming with zero effort it doesn’t really matter. Just level herbalism and mining and go to maraudon.

If you want a character that is ready for TBC warlock is the answer. Atleast if you want want to do arenas or high end raiding. High end raiding as a mage in TBC can be frustrating, mostly due to warlocks having such a good time.

Personally I find the resource managment mages have to do alot more fun than just hitting life tap every now and then. As a mage your planning and timing matters a lot more when it comes to resource management.

That’s about the level where they start feeling different. It’s where mages start getting their great kiting tools, but it’s also where you get the first real taste of the drinking game. It’s also where I personally always found warlocks becoming quite boring to level, as they will either have to play the drinking/eating game without the slows and escape tools mages have, or wand mobs to death while their pets try to tank.

I would advise you to keep going for a few more levels on both characters if you are not sure exactly what you want to do at max level.

Personally I find mages alot more fun, but I’ve played one on and off since late vanilla, and never really liked pet classes, so I’m probably biased.

Mages are warlocks, just better.

Warlocks are useful for soulstones / summoning though.
Though, if you want solo gold farming… as far as I’m aware … Mage>warlock in every aspect.

Your choice is an easy tank or an AoE farmer.

If you want an easy vanilla experience, take mage. If you want to be prepared for TBC, take warlock.

Personally I like warlock more because they are “dark” and I just love the spell versatility and demons. Not an easy class to master compared to mage imo.
