With the current class imbalance and the amount of boosters and wintraders around, it’s pretty much impossible to get the whole sets if you’re not either pro player or have no life outside the game. Past season tier sets are still obtainable if you just farm old raids, even the mythic tints - why are pvp elite sets the only time-limited sets?
We’ve gotten a lot leniency on m+, with most annoying affixes being removed, no key depletes next season, it’s pretty easy to get mythic tier sets for all classes if you just push content consistently. You don’t lose m+ rating either, unlike pvp rating from losing.
I’ve been in months of rollercoaster of trying to reach just 1.8k rating on one class which sadly isn’t a fotm class. It would be easier if I could just reach same rating on a fotm class and then buy elite appearance for the class I -want- the appearance on (rather than the one I’d be forced to play bc it’s “currently good”).
Blizz does nothing about PvP boosting either, even if it’s literally paying with real money to other people to get you in-game goods. It would be fair that Blizz rewarded players for actually playing the game and letting us have old PvP elite sets similarly to old mythic sets, instead of supporting PvP boosting because of “if you don’t get X rating at X amount of time, it will be lost forever”.
Also, we’ve gotten previously rare and unobtainable mounts through Trading Post. Some things which were marketed with Hero edition of expansion pre-purchase. Wouldn’t it be just fair to make old elite pvp sets purchasable too? Maybe with requirement of “earn X rating this season and once you’ve collected current season elite set, you can purchase an old one for X currency.”
Jk, prestige is important and elite mog is something you cant compare to a mount or a mythic raid set. PVP seasons difficulty change every patch for every class, would be unfair to go giving wellfare handouts cause memememememe mog when its something you should earn off your own skill.
Anyone can go back to an old expansion and one shot Mythic raids for the “elite” transmogs. So why shouldn’t it be the same for PvP? We are not special.
On the one hand, I can understand that the Elite sets should be something special, and not everyone should run around with them, that you show, here, you’ve done something, but on the other hand, as I said, the argument falls flat again, as just said with the Myth sets from previous raids, in the end everyone can run around with them, and anyway, the good-looking sets are only accessible to the 5% of the player masses, but not to the majority is also a bit absurd
It’s absurd to deny the elite sets only out of elitism, whereas with myth sets that’s not a thing and only a very small part is allowed to brag about it.
I think elite should give mounts, titles, feat of strength etc.
The elite mog should be attainable the expansion after, but not during the same.
By making the elite mog unattainable after the relevant season, you are telling any newer players and future (but bot current) players that all this sick mog exists, but sucks to be you. Not a good feeling, and i in general despise FOMO.
Elite mog is pretty parallell with mythic raid mog, and it can be obtained later. Sure, keep the mounts, titles, feats etc, but i dont see any reason to make the mog unattainable.
Unlike in PvE, where there has never been any meta and fotm has never been a thing there ever.
I’m not a fan of handouts of past elite sets. But there could be a system similar to the Vicious Saddle - Winning games above 1,8k rating will give you progress on an “Elite Ensamble” token, once you grind it out, you can purchase one Elite set from the past.
The same system could be used for Gladiator Mounts - winning games above 2,4k rating gives you progress on “Gladiator’s Saddle” token.
The PvP community is small and keeps shrinking because it’s not getting any new blood. New players quickly lose interest from all the CC, being stuck in elo hell, needing addons to set up a useful UI, make macros, having to fight against boosters and win traders. The whole pvp system needs an overhaul, but that’s another story. The pvp community needs new people, and I think the chance to get old elite sets would definitely help a lot.
I have a few elite sets. I got them because I thought they looked good, not because of the prestige. I personally wouldn’t mind if players got a chance to earn old elite sets. But there should of course be some kind of challenge to get them.
I’m against FOMO because I feel it’s unhealthy and leads to anxiety and stress. It also leads to people buying boosts to get elite sets. People should be playing to get elite sets because it’s fun and they look good, and not because they know the sets are inevitably going away.
PVP is much more dynamic than raiding which makes it more prestige cause its not just you doing a “song and dance” and following tactics. the fight plays out all the same, each difficulty only tweaks at best 1-2 things usually.
Its far from different from mythic raiding, a mythic raid also doesn’t just poof at end of patch so you can farm the mog and mount all expansion and the % and drop rate does not change during it either, + the top guilds get a perma title to keep across the whole guild and a feat of strength / cutting edge achieve.
the only way to really get the mythic mog during current content is by basically being a mythic raider or getting lucky with your vault loot and the tier converter so, its still some amount of prestige for most of the patch /e xpan
each to their own opinion prestige is invaluable, the mog is a free hand out already, if you cant push 1.8 in the wellfare pvp brackets thats on you.
the pvp meta does change ,e specially depending on the bracket you play in too. If you choose to not look up whats “Op” thats on you. if you cant bring yourself to actually put the work and achieve such a low rating then you shouldnt get it.
fyi you get literal months and can even get a NEGATIVE WIN RATE and still hit 1.8 with how many times you get a MMR boost
Ah the usual cheap excuse.
Are boosters and wintraders a problem? Yes.
But it’s not they fault you can’t get 1,8k.
People that can’t get 1,8k for the set doesn’t earn it, you don’t have to be a pro gamer and you don’t have to play 48 hours a day for it. For this rating you can play every spec, every race.
https://imgur.com/a/nES22Ty 1909 with 60 games = 10x Solo Shuffle. You have months to get it, so if you don’t have time to play like 10-20x Solo Shuffle in 3-4(?) months this game isn’t for you.
PvP has only ever been a side activity in this game and the ‘prestige’ that comes from earning particular sets for transmogrification is vastly overblown.
A good compromise would be for sets to be locked to those who earn it in a particular expansion and then when the next expansion swings around only then are those appearances unlocked.
That would be very similar to how it works for the vast majority of sets obtained through the PvE side of the game.
I wish to put forward some suggestions and appeal that developers like David Hollings, may kindly take forward.
All PvP game modes need their own unique seasonal title and mount reskins as 3v3 Gladiator and 10v10 Hero of the Horde/Alliance. For example, Solo Shuffle is a Solo Q mode of 3v3 Arena and would be great to have its own mount skin. Similalry, 8v8 is a Solo Q RBG, and is played differently compared to 10v10, and hence must have its own rating titles and achievements, which should be different from the decade-old RBG titles. Of course both modes must have their respective Gladiator mount reskins. Same goes for 2v2 mode as well. Doing this change would certainly increase participation, as players will have their respective incentives
The current PvP Saddle system is outdated and redundant. Even a casual PvPer has dozens of vicious saddles laying waste in their bags with nothing to purchase as we already have the PvP vicious mounts. Firstly, these saddles should also be Warband bound, as the progress toward the seasonal bar is via any character, and secondly, but most importantly, players should be able to use these saddles as a currency to customize their PvP mounts, be they vicious or Glad mounts. This change would completely change the face of retail PvP as this will infuse incentives for everyone, starting from casuals to elites
Rated Battleground 10v10 is the only game mode that exists in WoW and has not been replicated in any other game mode. It would be great if you could take care of this unique mode. Hero achievers get the seasonal titles like Verdant Hero of the Horde or Draconic Hero of the Horde, but they don’t get to use the title in game, and instead they get to use only Hero of the Horde. Hence, there is no difference between someone who achieved this feat during Cata S1 or the last season of Dragonflight. Please make this change so that all Hero achievers would be able to use their earned seasonal title in game retrospectively. It will be a huge incentive for RBG players and would instantly revitalize the game mode
Participation in normal battlegrounds and rated battlegrounds should yield 500 to 1k gold for victory and 250 to 500 gold for loss. This would be a huge incentive for casuals and would encourage participation
Dragonflight World PvP was insane. It was just fantastic and attracted a lot of participation and on-spot rivilaries/duels. Please capitalize on the same. Unique titles and mounts (not a Bee mount) for this mode would be huge. More titles like Horde/Alliance Slayer titles and achievements, along-with WPvP special gear cosmetics, would massively incentivise players and encourage participation
There are several other suggestions, but these would be the top five. It is an earnest request that PvP developers kindly take this forward and help the retail PvP community. We might be quite a few less in number compared to casual PvE players, but still, these fewer players also amount to several thousand players worldwide. I hope David and others will help us.
I’m not a pro pvp’er, that is true, but I try my best. But I don’t see why PvP especially should be about “prestige” when it has been removed from any other aspect of the game. The FOMO is real and forces you to play long hours if you are not pro or buy a boost, since there is no real way to avoid playing against boosters and wintraders. And some comps are just like, you can barely do anything against them whereas this is not the case in PvE.
And those who defend prestige, I did not suggest handouts of gladiator mounts, titles etc., just making similar system for being able to buy elite set after season ends, like you can get previous season mythic tier sets.
This is very much my experience at the moment as a rogue. Spending whole solo shuffle matches in inescapable AoE cc hell or pursuing a frost mage as melee, and unless healers dispel roots, it’s an impossible chase without using vanish/cloak to get out (shadowstep/hook do help but I’m already using them to mitigate snares). Try LoS them, you might also LoS your healer. Be in full melee lobby against warriors or DK, they simply cut through your defensives like paper and let’s not even get to BM hunters.
Players dc frequently during matches, resulting in half-finished rounds with +2 rating. You may get +20-30 rating per win, but then you lose once and it’s -72 rating.
I did also solo shuffle in DF and it was much smoother back then, but with current class changes, it’s a lot more chonky. I may definitely be a noob, I know the basics and frequently watch videos to improve. But I also find the current system highly unrewarding and I find that reaching 1.8k in pvp certainly requires much more skill than reaching 2.5k-3k rating in m+ or doing mythic raid.
Keep the discussion constructive instead of twisting my words into something that they are not, or exaggerating the point into absurdity.
Funny how most people who argue against it, don’t have much constructive things to say aside from “I don’t want to share my special pixels with other players”. All they think about is their own ego in a video game among millions of video games.
