If blizzard doesn’t care about fixing the issue of people going afk in BGs, why not just let players themselves do it?
Been playing a lot of WSG lately, and I hate the utter narcissism of some players, who enters a game and goes afk immediately. Even if the entire team reports them, it is really unikely that they’ll get kicked before they’ve caused a loss. And that is if they do not spend 20 seconds at some point breaking the debuff.
Just make AFK reports have an impact. If you get several reports every game, perhaps you should get increasingly long queue-times? Perhaps, if you get reported in a significant proportion of your games, the warning time before a kick should not be longer than the games themselves?

Everyone knows that when [Redacted] is in your team, you’re gonna be 9v10, because he doesn’t move the entire game. But nobody in the team has any power to do anything about it. It’s dumb.
I would like to add my little words to that thread. This afk debuff is completely useless. First of all, they can just move and tag someone and go afk again. Second of all. we had some funny guy who even exploited that debuff in its second stage, just relogging every 30 seconds until it wore off and nothing happened. Literally easily exploitable.
Blizz tells you to report such players under cheating and such but when will they get banned? in 3 years? Seeing so many still around. Also afking in warsong instantly at the start and arathi on alliance side became a thing recently too. This is just disgusting and nothing can be done as player but hope for them to get banned in the future… wont help the ongoing game though.
people tend to slack or even afk in random bg’s cus they don’t lose anything if the team lost the bg.
and no matter what blizzard do? there will always be Some people who slack or afk in bg’s “useless spots” Unless blizz makes “the team who lose the BG loses honor” then no one would afk in bg cus he/she will end with minus Honor.
but then Those people who’s crying about afk players in bg’s! will Cry more about losing all games vs premades! cus non will enter bg’s without premade! Yet you could solve all your problems NOW "Just join bg’s with premade"

Does that mean that Blizzard should do literally nothing to discourage it? Seems like a false dichotomy to me. I don’t think anyone is expecting a completely perfect system.

While putting together a premade would solve some problems, it would also create new ones. It’s a much greater commitment to put together a raid, than to just enter a BG, and I don’t think I should be punished with leeches for it. Losing every other game to a premade is enough.
Blizz already have a feature allowing players to report the AFK person in bg’s to get him/her kicked out.
however multi reports done to afk people in bg’s! will get their accounts banned.
About their accounts getting banned… I see Rank 10+ players sitting afk all the time, just shooting an enemy once, whenever they get the debuff. Maybe it’s just a habit they picked up at Rank 12, but it doesn’t seem very likely to me.
