Make Silithyst Great Again

Thanks to the displacer, it is easy and viable to collect Silithyst now.

The Silithyst world buff which nobody bothered gathering as it only lasts 30 minutes, is now relevant!

Searching and collecting Silithyst takes time and is not worth it if you have other world buffs on you. But with the new chrono displacer thingy, you can prepare your other buffs in advance, and then go to Silithus for an extra 5% damage.

So it makes the worldbuff meta even worse? xD

me and a friend of mine used to get silithyst buff, but our raid leader (some dumb chick who has proven herself to be a snake in the grass on a whole new level) demanded we stopped bringing it because it “messes up the warcraft logs”… how does it mess up the warcraft logs? she never elaborated on that.

Because it invalidates the logs.

“Using Traces of Silithyst will result in your parse being invalid and in your guild’s complete raid rank being invalid. (This rule is already in effect, but we’re including it here for completeness).”

We banned it for that reason as well.

well thats just ridiculous

Yeah, it’s mostly down to warcraft logs.

So we had a choice of letting people have that little bit extra damage for their own dps meters, or ban it and let everyone get a parse instead.

so hold on, a 5% damage buff which along with DMF results in a 15% damage increase per member gets banned because of parses?
what happened to speedruns and all that?
in fact now that i think about it, i should have used that as an argument when my guild officers demanded that everyone bring mana biscuits for speedruns because mages conjuring water for a minute was a ‘waste of time’.

We ban the buff, not the member.
Simply because it invalidates our parses/logs.
Especially since it’s also only a 30 minute buff.

No point in a speed run, if you can’t even log the speed run.
The buff itself invalidates your entire log.

No parses, no guild ranking, no speed ranking.

yeah i was talking about the buff, not the players. guess my spelling could have been better there.

you can always just record the speedrun and post it on youtube and go “look here guys, we beat your record”. parses and logs aren’t the only way to achieve good speed run times.

Yeah, but it’s the best way to establish it.
Not everyone checks youtube, whilst a lot of people check warcraft logs for speed runs

i presume most servers have a dedicated discord server where everyone would be able to see it if you linked it there though

Eh, we personally won’t use it.
It’s up to you, but I’d presume that the majority of people would prefer just seeing it on warcraftlogs.

We’d never make it mandatory for any raid though.
Makes healers lives way harder to watch out not to knock off world buffs even more

yeah making it mandatory would be a tad silly and over the top, and i also understand that most people prefer logs, but if that wasn’t the case i don’t see a reason why someone who is dedicated enough shouldn’t be able to fetch a silithyst buff

It is amazing for performance gbid runs where total damage matters the most.

Sand buff can’t be stored in the chronboom item, also does not have high priority in the buff list, so will be knocked off early if you go over buff cap. It’s fair to say that you’re not “supposed” to bring it for raids, as neither WCL nor Blizzard seems to think highly of it.

Oh yeah, it’s just it affects everyone else.
Which is a shame truthfully.
But, if it wasn’t for that… guilds would likely make it mandatory to bring it as well xD.

Warcraftlogs is an established standard at this point.

No one cares about some guy posting some video somewhere. If its on warcraftlogs, its accepted by everyone. If not, it might as well never happened, end of story.

Its the same with soccer. Anyone can have a game with some friends, but unless there is an official referee present, nothing in that game matters to anyone else.
