Yes, players really hated borrowed powers (artifact/relics, azerite/essence/corruption, anima/covenent/soulbinds/legendary) after 3 expansions Legion/BFA/SL. That is why Blizzard decided to remove all those borrowed power system in DF.
But in order to compensate the loss of those powers, Blizzard has to integrate them somewhere. And they decided to put them into revamped talents, instead of basic spellbooks.
The point of that part of my post was that they promised to introduce new talents later on and make a lot of the old things baseline. But it didn’t happen. And people have forgotten about it.
Make it every 10 levels and have there be four spells to choose between! Or make it like the PvP talent system, just a selection of talents and every X levels you can choose one.
whats the point if 90% just copy builds? these complicated trees end up giving less choice than old ones, at least there it was easy to see what you take and what you give up on, here is just import, there are so many talents that i often dont read them on alts i dont plan on doing m+ with.
Absolutely, probably 90% people don’t read talents on alts, especially when players play multiple classes and specs. It is just too time consuming to read the talent descriptions or even 3rd party guides, when the trees are getting unnecessarily complicated. Copy and Import is what most are doing.
I agree that talent tree is bad and difficult to maintain.
I believe much better idea is just to give large basket of talents, some of them active, some passive, some enhancements, and let people pick what they want. Introduce some with “pick 1 of X” to avoid everyone having the same skills.
Now, due to the pathing, it looks complex, but everyone ends with identical or very similar build.
I honestly think that current talent trees could be reduced in size. I think they’re much better than the old trees, but they should be cut down quite a bit.
Never. Talent trees are awesome. For those who want cookie cutter builds, there are sites to copy from. But for those wanting to experiment, having slightly different trees for different types of content, talent trees are much more fun.
Current talent trees are filled with garbage like “+2% damage”. It just sux.
Way better to have 10 talents that really makes difference, than a pile of trash, that gives an illusion of choice.
Anyway the talents choice is restricted with gear set bonus… that sux even more.
Some people are complaining about every talent system blizzard makes🙄
I am glad we no longer have borrowed powers although it did give some more variety.
But in this case i do not want some brainless version i like the way they are just now lots of choices to play around with.
So no thanks hard pass .
Wouldn’t call it complicated, but way too massive.
With several different high or max lvl characters, that’s quite a lot to go through to set them up, and consiering how Blizzard loved to often reset the old simple tree and may do that again, this is potentially a nightmare of epic proporsions.
I’m very much pro making talents simpler again. A lot of what is annoying me with the current talent trees are why the MoP style talents happened in the first place.
For all of my alts I just copy builds, and then maybe tweak a thing or to, but otherwise it’s too overwhelming to try to read and understand all of them, so I end up feeling less engaged with the system than when I did when there was stuff to pick from.
Because of how it is to change things with dependences etc, I actually try less things that I did with MoP style talents since it was so easy to switch and switch back.
I don’t like it that baseline abilities, as well as things like interrupts are in the talent trees. I also think this makes the trees feel bloated when they should be about the places where we have genuine choices.
