Exactly. I am playing almost all classes and many different specs. With how often blizzard modify and reset talent trees, it is quite a waste of time to build them on the alts.
It is obvious that the majority (probably over 90%) of players just copy/paste from 3rd party website like wowhead, icyveins, etc. and never read the talent trees.
I liked old talents much more. I could actually meaningfully experiment with them. Thatâs just not possible with new system. I must play with guides, itâs not possible for human being to understand the differences between all the possible choices. So for me they just removed talents from the game. I just copy&paste the build from the guide and thatâs about it.
My only problem with the talent trees is that there will eventually come the inevitability that something I havenât chosen will become necessary for the tier set bonuses. That doesnât work very well when the whole idea of talents is that we can create our own builds.
Yeah this used to not be the case before. Tier sets used to buff baseline spells for the spec, not talents. It is my firm opinion that this is done to make it easier to balance the season because then you can pretty much predict how players will play. Hero talents also smell similarly because they in many cases require you to go down a certain path in your spec tree first.
I will tell you what is the point. There is raiding, M+, TW, Open world (I canât talk about PvP as I donât play it). I use different builds for different game modes. The old talent system didnât have a variety. For Open world for example I have 3 builds and for TW 2.
I see what you mean even tho didnt say it directly, so many just copy cookie cutter build that it wont make much difference what kind system we had if played like it, sure theres bis options with current trees aswell but theres more choise for those that want choises and all can also play the cookie cutter copy paste build with it so nobody loses nothing and we only gain more with the added possibilities of choises. Current system is hence best compared to old as nobody lose with it, only gain for those that want.
We all go to Icyveins or whatever website . com and pick whatever talent tree sims the best and then everyone plays the exact same spec/class for the meta doing as much dps as possible with the only flavor being some utility.
Unpopular opinion, but I think they should do away with talents all together. There will always be a superior set of taletns to take, which will quickly become the meta anyway. Honestly, just cut out the middle man. It would also make balancing classes so much easier.
Cant be bothered to read about al those things in those talent trees.
I just use the suggested build.
Mayby if i see a fun ability that I want I will fiddle a bit to get that.
Or once it is complete, Iâll copy the wowhead âbest buildâ.
I would like for the talent system to be somewhat in the middle of the current one and the one up to Shadowlands, so that every side is angry happy:
Choice of 1 active ability among 3 options of active abilities every 10 levels (10, 20, 30⌠80)
In-between the above and below tiers the player gains 9 points, 1 for each level. There will be 3 passive abilities with each ability having 6 ranks, so the player will need to choose if theyâll spend 6 / 3 / 0 or 3 / 3 /3 or 5 / 3 / 1 etc.
I need a table to show what I mean:
|Level 10 | Healing Surge | Healing Wave | Greater Healing Wave|
|21-29 | All crowd control effects | All crowd-control effects | All crowd-control effects
_________on player last ____________| used by the player last _| and movement abilities
_________5%/10%/15%/ ___________|_5%/10%/15%/ ___________| charge 5%/10%/15%
_________20%/25%/30% less ______ |20%/25%/30% more ______| 20%/25%/30% faster
|Level 30 | Fire Nova | Hailstorm (active AoE frost ability | Chain Lightning |
|31-39 | All non-cc totems recover __ | All non-cc totems last________ | All non-cc totems
_________ 5%/10%/15%/20%/25%/30% | 5%/10%/15%/20%/25%/30% | gain 2nd charge but recover
_________ faster________________________| longer_______________________ | 50%/45%/40%/35%/30%/25% slower

etcâŚ
JESUS CHRIST, THIS TABLE IS AN ABOMINATION.
The point of the above is to make trees intuitive and easy to understand, to give players 1 point per level to emphasize the concept of gaining something that makes them more powerful, to give players the ability to create their own favourite playstyle (even if not optimal) and to massively reduce button bloat.
The talent trees are the best theyâve ever been.
Do they need some fixing? Yes, but this is glory compared to the 7 talent rows were every competitive option was competing against each other in the same row like we had before.
We have options now, and thatâs fun and healthy.
Actually present talent trees are one of the reasons I got back to wow again. I was so fed up and bored with simple talents. Maybe one day there will be problems with them. However, thatâs a problem for another time, and for the time being we can have fun with what we have right now.
