To make the M+ tanking attractive to us, people’s mentality would have to change. It’s so hard to find the right team in a short time because we simply don’t want to listen to toxic players calling you names right and left, telling you how bad and useless you are because you don’t do this or that. You have to be perfect, and if you are not, you are immediately oppressed by undervalued people. That’s why we decide to avoid M+ or play with people from the guild.
They already get instant queues and get them satchels that give them lots of gold [1k gold + 1-4 augmented runes, that’s 2.5 - 5.5+k gold from a single quick run in LFG… more so selling their service due to high demand.
The concept of the ranged tank doesn’t work because mobs themselves will come up to the tank to engage in melee
The only solution to that is to give the ranged tank tooling to prevent melee mobs to reach them in the first place, which would mean 0 incoming melee damage which would be overpowered or to make them a kite based tank and there’s a good reason a lot of people hated the kite meta as tanks and you’re going to drive your melee dps crazy with all the unneccesary movement a kiting tank would have to make when there’s tanks which don’t have to kite.
Protection paladins toolkit is mostly all ranged abilities and ranged attacks, yet its still melee, because the mobs run up to you to punch you in melee
I think one of the biggest issues is DPS refusing to press half of their buttons (aka defensives) which makes tanking and healing 2x harder than it should be… no wonder nobody wants to play those roles.
did keys on 10 already plus 2 and have done the first 4 mytic raid bosses on this char, i think i fit the bill

90% of people play DPS’s. And they expect everyone to know the game like the back of their hand, move at THEIR desired speed, pull when THEY want, while too lazy to use most of their support/defensive abilities and blaming whatever wrong happened to tank/heals - so yeah, wonder why peole dont want to tank nowadays
Blizzard have done everything they could to make playing tanks less attractive.
So this is just a natural consequence of Blizzards actions.
Dont worry we have seen the script before. Blizzard will turn tanks and healers into gods again to increase m+ participation. It will just take 6-12 months.
Tank positions mobs. You have to position yourself accordingly.
Tank groups up mobs, but unless its a DK, that is the job of the party. Not just the tank.
And the route responsability is limited to having dungeon tools and posting it at the beginning for all to see.
Your job as a dps is to line up your CDs in a way that makes that route he posted at the beginning run as smooth as possible. No easy task if you ask me …
Speaking of kicks, DDs tend to do them, but do them wrong. Shamans and Evokers are the #1 culprit with 2 stuns. What happens when you use cap totem is that after the stun all casters will cast at the same time. So you need to look, predict and use the DD cc with caution. No easy task either.
We can go on and on about this. But for the same reasons there are “normal” healers/tanks and GREAT healers and tanks, there are “normal” DDs and GREAT DDs.
And what happens is that “mediocre” DDs expect to be carried by great healers/tanks. That is the situation right now.
Because somehow being a “mediocre” DD is considered “normal”. However, being a great healer/tank has become the expectation.
Nah… Too little. Also DDs that dont know will cash in and fill the player pool with garbage.
What i would do is allow healers and tanks to loot myth track gear from dungeons. Like a 10 or something.
This gear will only be usable if you got tank/healer spec. If you change to DD the item turns red. To prevent DDs from exploiting this.
What it basically means is that healers and tanks will be ~ 10 to 20 ilvl higher than the DDs, and will get there faster. DDs with the vault will also eventually reach myth track, but early in the season when people are undergeared those rolls will have a boost in power.
I am not sure this topic is about +10 keys. It is how to get new tanks in the game. That means the game on the low end should be accessable.
For me my first biggest problem is getting aggro. It was a problem in DF and it is now. Even in follower dungeons i am not able to get it. What you want as new tank is not care about aggro but first look at how to stay alive. Basic rotations. But there’s no content where you can get into. A dps has that content.
