I won’t even buy it myself. It’s ugly and outdated.
But the endless entertainment provided by those who will whine about it on the forums, now THAT…that I want. And I want it bad.
It’s like a Christmas gift for a diagnosed sociopath such as myself.

I’d rather get the magic rooster. I don’t actualy think the spectral tiger is more than a status symbol. It’s not very pretty. But that’s just my opinion.
Neverrrrrrr hiihi
I’m fine with both.
Add the Black Qiraji Tank in there too, for some more fun.
I wonder on what thread this could possibly be based on.
Simply out of curiosity since I am aware that mount is old as tbc, yet I didn’t care about them then(not that I care about it much now anyway but thats OT ).
What makes that mount “special” as a status symbol? Super rare? Expensive or something?
Too soon. I believe those special mounts will eventually return but is the best bullet they have. Blizzard will wait to use it to maximize their profit by giving first other lesser important removed rewards.
The TGC card for that mount is absurdly expensive on eBay. About 4 ciphers. But Blizzard doesn’t earn a single penny for those second-hand sales so that expensive price is what makes it probable that they will eventually try to profit from it. This-party companies are making a ton of money with those items, and Blizzard is earning none. I don’t believe they have in hight esteem any player who bought the card on eBay. No company likes second-hand markets.
both please , with one being this year’s anniversary reward from tp and the other one next year
Its a TCG game mount and it pretty much became the status symbol among the TGC mounts. I also think the card was the rarest out of all of them.
However the rarity of the ingame mount was pretty much blown to smithereens during cataclysm when the mount got duped to the high heavens.
The Spectral? Just pure rarity
Least you’re being honest.
Half the people that beg for Spectral on the TP or as a Twitch drop simultaneously tell you its ugly and ‘just pixels’, while falling to their knees, tears streaming down their face in desperation as they make thread after thread, comment after comment begging for Blizz to pls broooooo pls i want the tiger brooooooooooooo. broooo pls!! i need the tiger!!! the tiger that i think looks bad plsssssssssssss broooooooooooooooooo!!!
the cat mounts have been fan favourites since vanilla. No one farmed up their stormwind rep to get a horse, but everyone farmed up that darnassus rep for a tiger. Same goes for ZG mounts. Razzashi raptor? Boooooooring. Zulian Tiger? Instantly goes to 9,999,999 on BMAH the second it appears.
With the except of the Rooster, Rhino and Rockets, most TCG mounts are pretty damn boring - but even among those 3, they don’t have the cool factor that those old cat models have.
Same can be said for something like T3. No one cares about Hunter T3, but people will still drop millions for a pair of T3 warrior boots even though they’re considerably more well known.
Even with all the duping that went on in Cata with TCG mounts, people still will go for the tiger. Its status comes not just from the # of cards printed, but also the fact that it just is the fan favourite of the TCG mounts. Even on private servers where people can pick any mount they want for free, people will choose that mount over any other TCG mount, 9 out of 10 times.
They pick it because of it’s status symbol.
Yeah I know, but it isn’t just pure rarity like I quoted, its everything surrounding the actual model itself and the history of what people like in the game. If it was purely rarity people would be like ‘damn, a White Stallion??? no way!!’ but instead they’ll run past 50 of those to look at the one guy on the Spectral Tiger
The model is ugly, it’s not a pretty mount. If I ever got one it would be purely for mount count. I have many that fall into that category. But everyone is different.
At the time the Zulian tiger was nice but is another very dated mount at this stage. As Horde it was the only way you could get a cat mount. Now both factions pretty much have access to some of the other’s mounts in some form or another. Now cat mounts are very common.
As Horde I wasn’t a fan of my wolf mount and did the grind for a raptor, they seemed much more fun.
I seem to remember Ion saying not to expect all of the old trading card items to appear in Twitch drops/TP.
I’d think the highest ticket items like the Spectral Tiger would be saved for something else.
Returning Cosmetic Items
They want to add ways to get appearances that exist in the game that are no longer available / have never been available back into players’ hands. They want to hopefully get to a point where there are no remaining things in that backlog, other than ones that are very deliberately no longer available like Corrupted Ashbringer.
Old Rewards for Recruit-A-Friend are “reasonably likely” to show up in the Trading Post. The Trading Post is a good outlet for old promotional assets and things that were available from other sources. If you already have them or they don’t interest you, you just spend your Trader’s Tender elsewhere.
Sitting down in an interview with EU Content Creators, Ion Hazzikostas clarified that the highly sought-after mount: Swift Spectral Tiger, will not be coming back through promotions. While some may be disappointed by this announcement as they were eagerly anticipating the return of the reins, long-time collectors can breathe a sigh of relief. The news ensures that their cherished item won’t lose its value anytime soon.
The Swift Spectral Tiger is a highly coveted and sought-after WoW mount due to its rarity and stunning appearance. Originally available as a loot card in the Trading Card Game (TCG), it has since gained popularity among players. However, due to its scarcity, the mount is priced at a starting price of $4,799.
According to the Game Director, TCG items were always given out as a way of promoting the game. It didn’t seem fair that players could only obtain these by purchasing them at inflated prices on third-party websites. In a move to level the playing field, certain old items that were once unattainable for players or regions where the game was unavailable are now being made accessible. This approach seeks to provide equal opportunities for everyone.
That being said, there are also exceptions. In the interview, Hazzikostas brought up the Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger, which holds a special place in the hearts of many. The developers understand that it’s a highly treasured item in the game. Taking away its rarity overnight would be unjust to the present owners. Therefore, they will take extreme care with decisions regarding its availability. He also emphasized that he wouldn’t expect this mount to randomly drop through any promotion.
I buy it easy, blizz wants my money.
Add it to shop and u gain 20 euro just from me.
Doesn’t matter if Ion personally believes it’s “unlikely” that the Spectral Tiger will be a Twitch drop or a Trading Post reward. The can of worms is already open with the re-release of other TCG cosmetics. Ion probably isn’t behind the decisions of what becomes the next Twitch drop or Prime reward. Just like how he has no power over what becomes a store item. It’s not a matter of if but when it will become available again.
I’m going to guess that they don’t want to re-release the tiger for free so it will likely be a future reward if you’re signed up for Amazon Prime (or Prime Gaming). Either that or it will be tied to a future (paid) promotion like subbing to WoW for 1 year.
It does matter as long as he is the head of the WoW Team. And if he states something like this then he will have the okay from above as well (of which there are only two people. And one doesnt care aslong as the money is flowing. One being Bobby and the other being Ybarra. With the latter being a long time player himself)
