Make WoW Metal again

No we thank you for being amazing!

Iā€™m having fun with Warcraft since Warcraft 2, I am simply not crapping my pants because of a couple gay questgivers and some dragon whelps.

I feel like some people though dont bother to read the questlines properly and get swayed by pretty colours, music, dragons, etcā€¦then they dont realiese metal things are happening because there are no spiky orcs involved.

Aww. Stop it.

Manā€¦ā€œMetalā€ is a way of referring to brutal/dark and often deep and meaningful story lines and aesthetics, it doesnā€™t literally mean ā€œMetalā€ In the sense of ā€œGuitars and concerts with hairy guys wearing tight pantsā€.

Itā€™s figure of speech.

Well, I donā€™t like that figure of speech because it reminds me of something I dislike.

But the way some people in this thread talk about it, it definitely literally means that to them.

Some people are just very soft and need to stop being so sensitive to everything that doesnā€™t fall perfectly in line with their views.

Exactly! And ironically the same is exactly true for people like you.
A gay couple in WoW is FINE.
A badass manly man is also FINE.

There is room for both of those things.

Well Iā€™m not offended or constantly going at somebody for them having slightly different views. I have had to defend myself because my views were not the same as a select few people here, which is out of order really.

Not really. People are allowed to have an opinion of you when you announce you hate a particular part of humanity.

If I said I hated a particular type of culture, Iā€™d be similarly treated. And thatā€™d be well deserved.

I never used the word ā€˜hateā€™ though. I said Iā€™m not on board with that, and nor do I need to be.

I am also entitled to my opinion and am not afraid to say that. I also donā€™t really care what people think of me for it. Crack on, I say, but I will continue to defend myself when necessary.

Honestly; you were more outspoken than that.
You called it garbage.

But thatā€™s kinda the problem, ā€œmetalā€ as you use it isnā€™t a clearly defined thing.

For me, dragons are definitely metal, theyā€™ve been a staple in metal music and adjacent media since forever. Elves can be metal, because Tolkiens works have been a staple in metal since forever.

Reducing ā€œmetalā€ to only itā€™s ā€œbrutal/darkā€ themes will inevitably lead to misunderstandings when you talk to people who are familiar with for example power or prog metal themes.

To me, Dragonflight was a ā€œmetalā€ expansion, because it could be ripped straight from a Rhapsody or Galloglass album.

And even if you donā€™t think so, Shadowlands had Maldraxxus, which is pretty much ā€œdeath metal centralā€, so I donā€™t quite get the sentiment even if weā€™re talking straight black/death metal.

Void elves are metal for sure.

Hell, even the Niffen were kinda metal in their own right - at least aspects of them.

Problem i see there is that only encapsulates a period of Metal. There is a lot of Metal these days which is about darkness and brutality (and yes trauma too) without necessarily being about being about how heavy you play!

Thatā€™s what LGBTQ people and woke people do not understand.

Original gay and black characters are absolutely fine.
Black washing and sexual orientation obsession, not fine.

Thatā€™s pretty much it, we are not against black or gay or anything for that matter.
We are against (------) washing existing characters and content to fit a (very honestlyā€¦) political stance.

something else that annoys me to no end:

Woke and LGBTQ people are OBSESSED with words like inclusion and equality, but instead of giving people options (and inclusionā€¦) they want to take away other peopleā€™s choices in favor of their own.

For example the long debated Body 1 Body 2 for characters instead of male and female.

Equality and inclusion would be have all four options available.

Remove male and female and leaving ONLY body 1 and body 2 is exclusion of (honestlyā€¦) 99% of the rest of the player base.

Donā€™t say ā€˜weā€™. There are people who are against that, for sure. Unfortunately.

I donā€™t think thatā€™s being done in WoW.

My orientation shouldnā€™t be a political stanceā€¦
There shouldnā€™t be a side in politics that wants to take my rights away. There is, and it sucksā€¦ But there shouldnā€™t be.

If all the people who claim they donā€™t hate gay and trans people, really didnā€™t hate gay and trans people. Then we would have a much easier time getting support, especially in countries like the UK, which keeps banning trans healthcare or making it harder to get.

Literally hurts no one. Honestly, it didnā€™t seem like a big deal to me, you can still make what you want. Literally just changed some words.
Edit: I thought the change was a little silly. But if it makes some people happy, thatā€™s cool. And it really shouldnā€™t make people unhappy, because like I said, no biggie.

This ,Tahā€¦meditate on it before answering

Iā€™ll try to bring a parallel to the discussion:

Final Fantasy started in 1987 as a series of games with turn-based combat.
After many iterations and some hybrid systems where combat was still somewhat turn-based but had real-time influence, it turned into full Action with the 15th installment.
Fans of the old system did not like the change and have gone as far as suggest that this is no longer Final Fantasy.
But fans of action combat (or people who hate turn-based because itā€™s slow) say that this is a long-overdue improvement and that this should stay and that people who enjoy the turn-based style should go crawl back to the cavern from where they got out.

This is happening in WoW too. And not only for its gameplay.
