Make WoW Metal again

the funny thing is df’s creative director was danuser, same old bearded dude that directed wow since beginning, there wasn’t any point of time when wow story was directed by DEI hire or some bullcrap

I’m pretty sure most of the people who made warcraft warcraft are not with blizz anymore, and that makes all the difference in the world. No king rules alone, and it’s no different for creative directors

gameplay wise - sure, story wise metzen is father of warcraft, he was prime director since WARCRAFT 1.
Also also, TWW is the best paced, directed and written story since ehm… legion? Really, for the first fricking time since EVER we have villain that actively influences story, and doesn’t just monologues and appears only in raid, for the first time we have side quests that are really interesting and showcase culture of different azeroth species and not just “Thy rotten great weed was corrupted by fel-void murlocs, kill murlocs and bring me biggest murloc head to cleanse weed”.
If what it takes to have such quality is to have some trans npcs and women in power - okay, it seems dei hires do their job better than some gigachad right wing afrasiabi lmao

I think we’re mixing things here. I don’t mind characters being some minority, that’s perfectly fine in my book if it’s well done and these characters aren’t just there to meet some quotas.

I also don’t think the story in it’s overview or the pacing are necessarily bad. It’s just the vibe that’s and the NPC being super bland and awkward. They are boring. They don’t have any “hmph” to them. And yeah, a good chunk of the game is doing quests and interacting with NPC so that absolutely is important, not only mechanics.

i do think that all 3 of severed threads, xal’atath and alleria are highlights of characters, i’ll form my opinion on anduin only when his arc ends

Anduin’s a b. Don’t have to wait for anything, he doesn’t inspire anything to me

No. I didn’t complain at all.
I was young and edgy myself; I liked WoW as it was. Back then.

Because I never claimed it was. Read my original comment again.

It’s true. I used to love certain types of games that I now can’t stand.
People change and sometimes games change. And all of that is okay.

Can it be sad to see something you loved change into something you don’t? Of course.
But gaming is about having fun, at the end of the day. If you’re not having fun; what’s the point?

he’s slowburner, basically ffxiv shadowbringers thancred, you either patient enough to see where he goes and see his glow up or you just don’t care.
There were a cool scene when he tried to repeat his father’s move, hoping that light will return to him

You never said it directly, but I took your comment in the context of our conversation, and that was what it hinted at.

But yep, I agree that you didn’t complain, that was a misspeech in my side

I can see how it could be interpreted like that.
Wasn’t meant like it though; I meant it ‘in general’ that’s something I don’t like.

Cheers. Always nice to see people with differing opinions can still have normal conversations on these forums.

Have a good night.

You too have a good one

yes wow for real wow player, need badass content no one wants to see a character like anduin or trall crying all the time or lgbt++++++++ quests

Gay characters - fine and welcome
ORIGINAL Black characters - fine and welcome
Male characters - Fine and welcome
Female characters - fine and welcome.

“Body one Body two” characters - NO
Make everyone Black, or black wash existing characters - NO
Make a bunch of gay characters for the sake of it instead of true well founded reasons for character development ? - NO.

So you see, as long as sanity and balance is used, everything is ok.

Including emotional/action oriented storytelling

Someone finally said it!!! This game is becoming too soft! It used to br about war. Blood and thunder. Now its a “chosen one” manga. Very disappointing. All tuned to the snowflake minority

WoW has always been pre-teen flavoured Warhammer. I have issues with the current storytelling but leaning back into edginess would not be a step forward.

Totally agreed, although I don’t think it’s going to happen. Most people seem to like the direction WoW is going so why would they appeal to us instead of them? They’re just going to continue with what they do as long as it doesn’t lower the numbers in the spreadsheet. I think the best is to just find other games to play and, if that makes a big enough hole in their sales, maybe we’ll get something

That’s such a weird statement. Being gay doesn’t need some elaborate backstory or something.

Looking back at it, that’s quite true, the statement is a bit weird. I think what they meant was more a long the lines of “don’t just make gay characters to meet a quota”. The problem with it is that I feel a lot of female and gay characters are either written by men who have a twisted image about people of other genders or sexualities in their heads, or just by boring people. I have gay friends and they’re pretty cool, normal, level headed people, not some bland softies.

Maybe hot take, if Uther was gay (and I’m not insinuating he should be) he wouldn’t be any less cool as a character to me, so I wouldn’t mind it at all personally. It’s like when I found out Dumbledore was gay, didn’t care cause the character was still interesting.

My stance:

  • Don’t change current sexuality, race, gender etc. of existing chars
  • Make future chars (including regular NPCs) feel interesting and not bland, regardless of sexuality, race, gender etc.
  • Be sane, don’t overcompensate - I don’t think Azeroth is a place to dump all our modern sensibilities, values and politics keep it warcraft

100 percent agreed. Remove this boring, lame and cute storytelling sect. From blizz and the game
