Mak'gora leaver style punishment for AV afkers/bots

With the revamped honor system in place a lot of people are ranking up and a lot of players just afk / bot.

Instead of banning for a week or whatever I propose they just get locked out of queueing for battlegrounds for 3-7 whatever days /played.
For naming and shaming reasons the debuff doesnt have to be visible to others.
Only people who would normally be banned from actual gameplay sabotage reports not just spam afk report would receive such a debuff.

Thoughts?

I would agree if I didn’t see people reported for daring to go into the harpy cave for the trinket quest (the same trinket they are then expected to use to defend if the game turns into a turtle). For trying to finish the mine capturing quest. For daring to enter at level 51-59, for defending Vann, bridge, bunkers, Belinda. For fighting in the mid.
Anything but running straight to Drek only stopping to pull Galv and Lts can get you mass reported.

Yeah I know you mentioned it in your post, but are you sure Blizz can implement it right? I am fairly certain if Blizz tried anything like that, players would find a way to get anyone who looled at them wrong banned from ranking for a week.

I understand your concern however I’ve been ranking 2 chars these past 2 weeks and very rarely someone complains about people doing the cave quest much less defending vann etc.

And yet time and again i see the same people each week with higher rank afking at the lumber mill, inside the houses near balinda and so on.
And funny enough few people still mention that those are afk so that they can be reported.

Maybe my is an anecdotal “proof” however thats what I personally noticed that the ratio of legit afkers to people complaining about someone doing cave/legit defense (and possibly reporting them for that) is higher towards people that just afk.

It’s because all the mains are already r11 and r14 only opens on April 3. As soon as people are back to doing their 5 week grind, things are gonna get much, much more “serious” in AV again.

So that gives all those that are AFKing currently and after all the “mains” hit r14 a pass?

People are going to abuse the system whether we like it or not the difference here is the people wrongfully reported and actually banned can play the game except for battlegrounds while they appeal.

The system will be broken as long as its automated with few actual human beings monitoring it.
So until company quarterly growth stops being the absolute top priority i doubt thats changing.

Frankly, I don’t much care. I will rank for 5 more weeks to r14 and never touch BGs again with a 10 foot pole, much less any other form of pvp. My only concern is that my team can’t get me banned for some made up reason. I literally don’t give a toss if 15 people sit afk in a cave as long as the game ends in 8 min and I get 2700 honor from Galv and Lts.

And that’s why they need to have as little power to influence other people’s gameplay as possible. Ideally reports should do literally nothing other than notify Blizzard staff. No ban, no silence, not even a kick from the current BG.

What a stupid idea :joy:
