Making PVP Elite sets available after the season ends

I’m going to start by saying that Blizzard have made the Zhevra mount available on the Trading Post this month, a mount that was pretty rare/head-turning as it was removed from Recruit-a-Friend after a length of time.
According to my Feat of Strength, I’ve had this mount since 15/10/2008.
I do not care that they have brought it back, as it took no effort, skill or ANYTHING to obtain, it was a freebie when I played with a friend. Give it to everyone.

Many people have started yelling that they think PVP ELITE sets should be available to get as a transmog after the season ends (and older expansion ELITE sets should be available again).
The rewards from doing rated PVP are bare-bones as it is, and I could not disagree more (even as someone who only has the elite skins from the last few seasons).

The main argument I hear is that “you can get the Mythic PVE colour of the skin easily down the line, but not the PVP colour”.
If anything I would prefer they REMOVE both colours of the gear after the season, rather than giving them both away for free.

The main reward for the PVE Mythic gear is not the skin, but the gear itself. Having that gear DIRECTLY improves your role in that content.
It makes you stronger, it’s BIS, you get something out of it. Sorry guys, but PVE power is temporary and you are living patch-to-patch in “current content” and that is when the gear is most valuable to you. Your long term rewards are the “ahead of the curve” mounts, M+ Mounts, titles, and whatever else there is (teleports, Mythic tints on all tier colours, ect). Again, I would have no issue personally with Blizzard changing this and removing the Mythic skin after the patch anyway so you can keep your rare PVE skins.

The PVP Elite gear on the other-hand does ZERO for your character. The transmog itself is the ONLY reward.
No player power, just a skin. After our patch ends, you can grab the PVP conquest gear for badges of honor, but the elite skin is a way of saying “I competed in this season and I achieved this much”.

I get that it is purely cosmetic and some people would say “bragging rights in a game lolol, who cares what other people think” but PVP is THE competitive mode.
Sweaty, try-hard, cosmetic rewards is what it’s all about. Other games have leader boards and badges next to peoples names. People beat other people in competitive sports purely for applause, recognition, and admiration. People compete in the global Olympics for metal medals (they are cosmetic, they don’t even do anything lol).

There are tens of thousands of transmogs in this game. Don’t tear down the reward structure of the PVP-half of this entire game so people can have some Appearance tab items that mean nothing. Go farm some other sets guys, or go do some arena.

no,
do not make ELITE PVP SETS free for casual pvpers

id straight up quit if my rewards for pvp were made so in-valuable like that, i would have no incentive to play

if Blizzard fold and introduce elite sets to casuals that dont participate, they would ruin any incentive to play in pvp

Thing is elite sets go to casuals anyway since it’s just 1800 rating. There’s no need to make things any easier. Especially at this point of the season it’s borderline impossible for any English-understanding PvP player to not have it. If you have thousands of games below 1800 and can’t reach it, literally just commit 5-10 minutes of watching a guide or a streamer to learn what you’re doing wrong. If ego is too high, unlucky.

Considering seasons end with people that have 3000-3200 rating, the floor to get the Elite set is very low especially at the end. Oftentimes there’s like 3-4 things a player can change in their gameplay that will instantly grant them 200 rating or more.

But whoever cares about self-improvement usually gets what they want, especially these kinds of rewards. People who make the same mistakes for thousands of games are at the rating they belong.

I’m sorry but if you can’t push 1.8 in the monkey bracket known as solo shuffle which defaults your Match making value to1.7 - 1.9 towards the end of a season then thats on you chief. Elite rewards are easy enough to get for players willing to learn and actually play the game.

But they are free for casual PvPers and clowns.
Else you wouldn’t get it.
I’d rather have some old elite sets as a reward for winning games above 2k+ in real brackets than giving away the elite set for free and then making it a fomo.

I mean it literally requires 1600/1800 to get an elite set. It’s already pretty casual

The Pvp mounts are implemented with this idea in mind already no (without the 2k requirement)?

But I agree, it would be a nice incentive to go higher than 1k8 for transmog afficionados like me.

Keep only the enchants & mounts for the season achievement

They already exist. There’s a large array of weapons for having 2.4. Most of them are pretty nice. Specifically farmed the Hunter 2400 bow this season only for this reason, otherwise I would never bother.

Yes but that’s of the current season, I meant from the previous expacs.

They should kill the time-gated aspect and just make it rating-specific in any given season to entice people to play PvP, that’s all. Fomo is outdated.

They should just stop making everything time-gated and just put in a vendor where you can buy all your bis for 1 bronze per piece and the instant you log in, you get every single transmog and mount in the game. Grinding and trying to be good at the game is outdated.

No one can get their hands on what I’m wearing, and it’s the best elite set paladin ever got. Lets keep it that way

1,8k+ on PvP is a success and priceless. These sets should not be so easy to get (Maybe huge amounts of mark of honor (or sth else) should be paid) and they can be purchased -for example- 2 expansions behind but availability of PvP elite sets may make a lot players return and make the blizzard glorious like before.

Some rewards should remain unobtainable.

Yes, the mount, the title, weapons & the illusion should from my POV stay only available during the season. The set in itself, I don’t see why it’s blocked. There are some really nice sets that you never see anymore which is a shame.

I’m not saying it should be free for all, I think available at 2k - 2k2 with a high price tag (80 marks) would be relevant & give new objectives for some people.

I don’t mind making them obtainable again but the people wanting them to be just handed out for marks of honor are crazy. most of the older sets were harder to obtain either by rating or by time commitment, than every set now. you can get 1800 now in an afternoon even on the first day of the season and if you wait a few months you can click a button and be placed into teams and games where you already start at 1800 mmr and you simply have to not go afk and you will naturally win 50/50 and get the set.

in ye olden days when sets were at 2k or 2.2k or only obtainable in 3s or RBGs, this wasn’t the case. some of the other sets required farming a ton of conquest in a given season. some of them, like the wod ones, required both. i had to get 2k and then also farm i think it was 27k conquest in that season just to get the set on my hunter. others only were given out after the season ended, like in Legion.

by contrast, marks of honour can be farmed by literally pveing. all you have to do is wait for the comp stomp to show up and do it on all of your characters once every day for the full week, and you’ll end up with around 200 marks of honour. if you sit down and grind it, you can easily get a thousand in one week. are we really going to hand away 2.2k elite sets to people who use an auto hotkey macro in comp stomp for a week? come on.

if they are added back, there is only one good way to do it - another saddle style system. once you’ve already hit 1.8k, you start a new bar, and every game won while above 1800 progresses that bar. after filling the bar, after say, 100-200 wins, you get a saddle style item. then, you can go to the vendor and buy the set you want. ideally older sets from cata would require say 3 saddles, legion and wod would require 2, and bfa and SL would require 1.

I forget exactly how MoP elite sets worked. i have pieces of a few of them but i think they were mostly to do with grinding conquest. so yeah i dont care if those are given away for marks of honour.

Here is your answer bro, no. Thanks.

We can also make glad mounts available after winning 100 random bgs, while we are at it. Speaking as a person who doesn’t own a single one, if I ever get a glad mount, I want to know I earned it, not just have it for the sake of having it.

I feel like people nowadays just want instant gratification, without putting in the work. I fell
inlove with WoW (it was a long time ago), because I liked the idea that, you can get exclusive rewards, if you put in the work and that there are things that are not available to everybody. That’s one of the reasons, why WoW was such a good game. All this giving away rare items from twitch drops and etc is an extremly silly idea, in my opinion.

You still needed 2k in 3s (maybe 2s as well, not sure) or RBGs
