I donāt think Iām derailing anything. At least not more than you guys are, considering youāve spent a lot of posts doing nothing but jumping at that OOCer and taking his bait.
Thatās fine, as is pointing them to other, better non-RP servers and telling them that thereās not much point in joining a RP server if theyāre not at least interested in giving RP a try. But I think that should be it. No anti-OOC threads or responses like āGo away if you donāt want to RP!ā

RPPvP griefing is better than mammoth toy spam because you can kill them!
Griefing is griefing, and when we turned off flags they resorted to running around on mounts and some saying pretty vile things too. So it was actually not just PvP getting griefed

Why canāt you? Griefing is the same, no matter the twists and turns. Yeah the method used on DB was mostly through PvP but it ultimately has the same result, which if left up to their own devices could happen on AD if we as a community donāt defend ourselves against it.
Definitely. Some are less invasive, tend to last less time, etc etc.
RP-PvP griefing, if successful, is just a pain to manage - because i) it isnāt sanctioned by Blizzard ii) it gives honorable kills and therefore it is rewarded in-game which means iii) griefers have an incentive to continue the slaughter and iv) killing people in PvP feels good.
One time in a Barrens campaign one of us infiltrated the griefer group and asked for raid lead to invite more people! Then they just kept declining new applications and told us the location of the griefers so we could gank them until they scattered! Haha!

Agree with this one yeah because one you can remove with PVP or just opt out of but the other you simply get stood on by a mammoth for four hours
There is simply no in-game solution for spatial griefing

Sounds incredibly based. Canāt say we did the same. The big raid only arrived after johns crew had been utterly destroyed a bunch of times and it was few more than the our lots could handle.

Ignoring accounts and making those accounts invisible outside PvP/PvE instances is an ideal solution.

Four hours? Has this ever happened? All the griefing episodes I ever recall last about 20 minutes on average, 30 at worst. Then you have people crying on the forums āoh, this episode of griefing lasted 5 hours!ā and you were there and it lasted 20 minutes. So Iām going to press X doubt on that one.
The dice was drawn. They came there for the PvP, and were disappointed when the event was cancelled. Iād count that as RP-PvP griefing, because it was meant to be PvP - if you had done an /emote fight, they wouldnāt have even bothered arriving. Of course, they were bad people and you should not stop doing RP-PvP because griefers exist - Im not arguing against that (in a perfect world theyād receive a suspension) - but itās just to show that RP-PvP griefing is way worse than others.
At the same time, Iām sure you were also crying in their chat or something, which helped to fuel the flames.
