Malding in Stormwind

I am not convinced this was simply some sort of ‘social experiment’ you were conducting. There are a few basic concerns here.

Firstly, a Streamer with a -known- history of actively encouraging his followers to disrupt RP, (anybody remember his stream with him raising his middle finger and saying ‘I kinda want to mess with these guys?) decided to host an event on AD.

It was not an RP event, there was no pretence at that. His drones are known for in many cases being some utterly repellent people, who will spam /say and /yell with inane twitch memes, sexist, racist and homophobic slurs, and doing their damnedest to disrupt RP. On the last RP server.

He knows this, he encouraged it once. Did his actions cause massive server lag? Yes. Did his disciples disrupt RP intentionally? Again Yes. Can he even for a moment have been unaware of the probability this would happen? No.

He actively set out to do something that would disrupt the last RP server in the EU.

Are you seriously, for a moment, saying that there is anything worth defending there, Yes or No.

Not a diatribe about the duality of man, or how his intentions are pure, Do you in all honesty believe his actions are worth defending? Yes Or No?

Moving on from specifics, as to OOCers, They should not be here. As affable and pleasant as some are, as helpful in some cases, this is simply not the right Realm Choice for them. This Realm is for RP. Of course people will raid, and indulge in PvP and whatever, but it is for RP. This is blatantly stated, and is obvious to all.

We should never be in a situation where certain areas of cities in an RP realm are simply ‘No-Go’ areas for RP, due to the sheer OOC presence there. You try RP in the Trade District, or the Valley of Strength. See how long it takes for these buffoons to start disrupting RP. It simply should not happen.

I came from a realm where we turned the other cheek at first, and over a few years that RP server died. It died because the RP’ers no longer felt welcome on their own server, so pretty much migrated en masse to Argent Dawn. They were fed up of the continual griefing and disruption, even from those who promised they would not initially, because once the mindless flock start doing it, why shouldn’t they. You seem to claim this did not happen, you are incorrect, I saw it happen, and where is The Sha’tar as an RP realm now?

It is not some parochial unfriendliness of RP’ers, it is simply bitter experience, and this time there -is- no other Realm to go to, and frankly, why the heck should we? This is our Realm, set up for our aspect of the Game, and -EVERY- other realm on the EU servers can cater to OOC players.

Give me one compelling reason, why you think it is acceptable for them to come here and bring those problems with them?

Just One.

Not all OOC players grief RP, I know this, everyone knows it, some of them are nice people, lets say only one in ten OOCers disrupts RP (I suspect the number is higher, but lets say 1 in 10)

If someone handed you a bowl of sweets, but you knew that one out of every ten was poisoned, would you take a sweet? (I mean, unless you were Christopher Walken’s character at the end of ‘The Deer Hunter’ of course)

Why are you defending the unpleasant, childish and downright idiotic element of the playerbase?

I’d rather not have the bowl of sweets at all, than know that some of them were poisoned.

What is it that you think you are defending here?

It’s not that deep Doxir - you dropped people’s personal information and accused them of a certain let’s say political affiliation so those players took a minute to remind those reading that in fact it was you who had those sympathies to the point that you would pay for commissions of characters wearing those uniforms guarding camps

I think it’s important that people are allowed to draw the distinction between your forum routine (which is more or less a facade) and the reality

It’s OK, I don’t really dislike you either. If they were making a show about my forum arguments you’d be a filler episode villain - a humorous character who goes through the same motions usually to be thwarted by his own designs time and time again only to return at a later date, having learnt nothing in the process

In fact I hope you keep posting for all time - you are ironically one of the anti-OOC cause’s finest assets

I don’t think it’s just the PCU. They are far from the root of all evil in the server. It’s much more than that: dynamics that promote witch hunts and toxicity have always existed: long before the PCU.
I don’t want to write another wall of text, really. I’ll be a bit blunt and say the obvious: I believe the PCU (those among them who herald toxic attitudes atleast) contribute to this situation. I’m sure they could tone it down if they wanted, but it’s not just them.

I don’t have a perfect answer, but I have a few ideas. I’m going to be quick and say something around the lines of: i) because the toxic environment I speak of has become way more self-conscious in recent times, and it becomes harder and harder to find good targets. You can also add some more stuff like: DB players reporting their experience, streamers making the divide between players more obvious and poking people’s pride (project 60) but as I said, in the end, players now don’t care a lot about the why. They just want to vent, and OOCers were a good target that crossed the road.

I assume some got alt accounts, that they keep there identity hidden and roleplays of-stream.

What I learned from this thread today: OOCers should :point_right: :door: and blue dragons have poor reading comprehension.

It’s unironically just because reports barely work and you can grief for hours on end for (at the very, very worst) a 3hr ban at 2am that passes without you noticing

I am telling you now my draconic friend that if Blizzard had strong policies / reactions to OOC griefing (or made a way to bypass them entirely - like ignored players vanishing, etc) then you would not hear a peep out of 99% of people because it wouldn’t be a big deal

Your problem is simply that you can’t see the forest for the trees - you want to go on 50,000 word tirades about the secret reason behind people not liking OOCers but it is right there in front of you: people are griefed → they see no recourse from the game moderation → they turn to an alternative response (in this case, kicking up a stink on the forums)

And so, until Blizzard can stand by their own RP server ruleset and put the community that this server is built for first in terms of enforcing those violations, I will have to say rly proudly -

Hello forums, it’s me, Vaxir.

I have once again returned to ensure that a thread is yet again focused upon myself and my numerous hardships (as opposed to anybody else’s - I cannot help but tell everybody about MY struggles time and time again!), such as people voicing their opinions about my bizarre SS art.

Why are people so upset? It’s just what I like. I don’t understand. It’s not fair that you spoke against it! This was so difficult on me! By the way, did I remember to tell you that this affected ME?

[begins to grovel down to the faceless masses on the internet for pity]
[SPEECH: 10]: Please, take heart! Have mercy! I’m just a humble art enthusiast that spends my money on SS art pieces!

I wasn’t talking about myself but thanks about trying to make it about me I guess??? If you read the post you would’ve seen I was speaking about others!

No you weren’t actually

It takes more than a minute to level your speech enough to convince your friendly NPC’s (me) of your tales unfortunately, Vaxir - there’s probably a few guides kicking about on YouTube if you want to power level it…

Uuuhuh. Still, it wasn’t about me so please stop trying to make it so. I am sure people are as bored of it as I am.

[Gallvin] says: You really expect me to believe that? Out of my face, rotter!

With how much you point at yourself for examples of how AD’s community is allegedly rotten I’m inclined to believe you in fact actually find a great deal of love + enjoyment in using yourself as some sort of weird martyr

Do read the post again. The last was an example of what I spoke of during the wall of text. But if you wish to make this about me then I had a decent day, thanks.

I’m telling you it doesn’t matter who you were referring to on a surface level - with how much you’ve made things about yourself repeatedly in the past, you absolutely cannot convince me otherwise that there was no underlying tone about how you yourself have been outed for your extremely questionable art, because history tells me that you absolutely love to harp on about how you’ve been wronged and faced injustices from the community

The safety net has not caught you & instead you fell to the floor anyway

i know u like to think of urself as the friendly guy fighting evil on argent dawn but no one’s forgotten that u have art of ur character in a certain uniform and love to bring it up to have a cry abt it all the time

I’m sorry you feel that way and cannot see otherwise. Still, again, not about me so let it drop at least to save people from the topic of myself. We are all sick of it when people like yourself drag it out and do make it about me.

but ur replying

I’ll always reply when things are wrong to try and clear it. But people can believe what they wish in the end no matter how right or wrong.

The weight of the irony in this has promptly delivered unto me a frightful concussion, Lord Vaxir. I will be sending the medical bill your way swiftly
