My question is that then if it’s effect, spells, dragonriding etc, then what happens on the days when I don’t have stuttering.
I am around people, I do my usual stuff, nothing triggers even a slight stutter. A month ago or so I even completed the Island Racer on a good day.
Ofc 90% of the days are still terrible. But few days ago I was also able to at least complete the Thaldraszus part of the Reverse Racer. (My pc isn’t high end by any means and it happens on low, medium and high/full pop servers, good days and bad days too.)
So I would suspect something more than just the spells or dragonriding. The stutter yesterday was horrible tho. Like unusually horrible.
Not sure what’s exactly the problem, but something what wasn’t mentioned yet. Naturally, I’m just speculating here, but it just doesn’t add up.

I too experience somewhat relief at times in the stuttering, but my working theory remains that it’s a fault with how the game loads assets as one moves/other players move around.
Last time I played I began a dragon race, and it went smoothly until suddenly several other players became visible and I stuttered so hard I lost the race.

I still get the pauses when you enter an area and there are lots of players. For the most part I am smooth. I have hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling turned on and optimisations for windowed games. Game mode is on and everything like gamebars or recording software/overlays are turned off. FPS limited to 60fps. All the fixes in these videos.
Looking at our broskis overseas, they have arrived at the problem being other players in your vicinity triggering the stuttering and I am inclined to agree after some testing. Not sure why blizzard hasn’t figured out the spaghetti code that broke everything even after 3 months, they are not even replying to the issue anymore xD

Thanks for the videos.
All of the settings, described in both videos, were already turned off on my DF client.
Still have stutters and FPS drops - in bgs, arenas, while dragonriding… It’s never been like that in the past! Been playing wow for so many years, this is the first time the game has been so bad on a purely technical/system level.
Please ask the devs for an official opinion on the matter - are they acknowledging this, do they think it’s something related to our systems, or a third-party/driver issue, whatever. Are they currently looking into it, or planning to?
It’s not natural to have a thread with so much activity ignored. This defeats the purpose of the Technical support forum.

Exactly.
This can’t be fixed on our end, it’s Blizzard’s problem that they need to fix. I want to play so badly but just cannot with the stuttering, it’s infuriatingly invasive.

The 1st of those videos worked for me. 2 hours of playtime, 4 instances, no stutter other than entering instances or a full zone.
(edit: corrected. was 1st video, not second)

It’s funny the 2nd video works for you, since Blizzard added that “fix” to the game over 2 months ago, and removed the entry entirely from config file.
Just here to bump, and the game is still stuttering.

It still is, for sure. Especially at the start of instances, while dragonriding, in arenas.
Bump from me too. This needs to be investigated by the devs.

My apologies, I mean the 1st video. I think I wrote “2nd” because I was at that moment also searching teh config file for that option…
my case the “Multisample alpha test” was still on. I turned it off, and now the stutter is gone.
Well sadly that’s not the case for most people. WoWs been tested at work on several 4090/13900k rigs with everything turned to low and/or off and it still stutters.

Something I noticed today: since I only play alliance, and I have one leftover horde character, I zoned into Orgrimmar for the first time this expansion. The moment I tried to fly on my normal mount the stutters were brutal.
It’s certainly something with loading assets.

I don’t even use anti aliasing and have the stuttering. Tried turning on anti aliasing just to untick the greyed out box, and it doesn’t do a single thing to help the stutters.
This is getting ridiculous. I wanna play more than I have in the past 7 years, and the only thing standing in the way is stuttering… An Issue I also haven’t had for since a decade before DF landed.

There’s even stuttering when just flying slowly over a completely empty Barrens.
My brain notices patterns even when I don’t want to, and the pattern for me is that I see foliage/mobs/players load in, and stuttering happening. Makes it impossible to ignore!

I’ve AA turned off as well, just to be on the safe side, and yet - doesn’t help.
I have the same feeling - the game is better than ever in terms of gameplay, and when they finally achieved this, it broke technically

Have you been over on the US forums? It’s true for what I’ve seen on countless prebuild PCs, even in empty areas it stutters if there’s anything that loads in.

Stuttering does not depend on whether there are people or not. I can fly in empty areas and still get stutters.
Edit:
Stutters happends in older areas too. Not only in Dragon Isles.

shapeshifting causes stutters too btw , as a druid changing forms felt really laggy as soon as 10.0 hit

Still no ETA yet? Why does it take too long? DF is one the worst expansions due to more issues than other expansions so please fix it quick! The question what is up with new dev team who cant handle it? You might need new people because it is so much worse than you think. It is too expensive to play gameonline and it should be FREE to play game NOW!!! Thanks!
