Meeting High elves ingame

A interesting topic for all you High elf fans.

Today I went to Allerian Stronghold with my Character Kaifana, it’s a Alliance base area in the Terrokar Forrest in Outland, named after Alleria Windrunner for her sacrifice (she was assumed dead by that time) this area has a mixture of Human, Wildhammer, High elf, and night elf NPC’s. The area’s captain/leader is a High elf male (forgot his name)

This area has Blue high elf buildings, along with old human buildings, and Dwarf buildings as well.

Upon speaking to some of the High elves there this one NPC practicing her bow skill caught my eye. Her Quote:

“ No, don’t feel bad. I get that a lot.

I’m a HIGH elf, not a Blood elf. Don’t worry, I’m not going to suck all of the Magic out of you.”

She had blonde hair and blue eyes that shined like the River at night.

I met another High elf woman inside, her Quote:

“ When I first arrived, I’d hoped to meet the town’s namesake (Alleria windrunner)

<Ros’eleth glances around.>

Most young high elves outgrow the ‘I wanna be a Farstrider’ phase by the time they’re taken as apprentices. Then, it’s onto the 'I’m going to be a magister stage.

I don’t think I ever quite outgrew the Farstrider phase, to be honest. No one dreams of growing up to be a seamstress, but we can’t have the Far-striders running around naked, as my mother used to say.“

Finally a Quote from Vereesa Windrunner when a Draenei called her a blood elf.

"Use your eyes and call me not by so accursed a name as that draenei!“

The more I meet them ingame, the more I understand why the High elves fans keep asking for them.

Also, the voice emote from high elf men and women is much more peaceful and welcoming than the Blood elf one.

  • High elf:

“Hello”
“Welcome”
“Peace friend”
“Good luck, friend”

  • Blood elves:

“For the Sunwell”

“Ano Belore Dalana”

“ Glory to the Sin’dorei.“

“Our enemies will fall”

I’m so happy Void elves will get the appropriate customization for them.

Allerian Stronghold is my favorite questing hub in the game, there’s so much story and detail in the NPCs there.

Finally people can play, or at least roleplay, as the High Elves in the Alliance as they always deserved.

By the way, near the hub, i have to mention Theloria Shadecloak, she have a very meaningful quote:

" The opening of the Dark Portal brought news of my people’s fate. In a way, my exile shielded me from sharing in their downfall, but to see the Farstriders throw their lot in with Kael’thas…

I never imagined my one-time brethren capable of such a thing.

The homecoming I once dreamt of will never happen. This forest is the only home I have left."

Blood elf customisation doesn’t give alliance high elves.

I can’t be the only one who read that title and thought “Yeah I’ve seen some high humans as well to be fair…”

However, personally i never want to see allied races again. Unless they are intrinsically tied to lore and are going to provide something worthwhile to the factoion and not just because “ooh shiny!! Blizzard let me be one!”

Blizzard isn’t fond of giving the Alliance things their players request and want, at least not fully, so High Elf customization for Void Elves is the best the Alliance can ever hope to get.

Compromises.

Trolls be always high mon. Stay away from the Voodoo.

Also thanks everyone for commenting. I didn’t think this post would get any comments. It was just one of those days where I explored and started to realize some cool stuff.

Also, when it was revealed that Alleria would return, i was hoping so much she would go to the hub and rein-counter her kin there, but i was disappointed.

No. We can get ion fired and replaced with a non biased competent game director

I’m fine with anyone non biased. It can be a horde main or a casual rper.

well thank you for sharing, since i quested like 10 years ago i tbc kinda forgot everything.

I tend to avoid visiting since it’s only salts in the wounds

Ians comments angered so many people. But I think the new customization for the Void elves is a compromise. It’s only missing the blonde hair color similar to Alleria.

Then later on when they do all Allied races customization, I would like to see some Farstrider blue tattoos for void elves.

Likewise red Farstrider tattoos for blood elves.

But the Tattoos aren’t really important right now.

Interesting! I love the high elf NPCs, they are quite mysterious. I was lvling a Nelf hunter yesterday and I noticed that the mage trainer in Dolanaar (I think that is the name of the village) is a Quel Dorei with a night elf model. She has white hair and no Kal Dorei face markings, this fits high elf description. When I talked to her she indeed confirmed she is a Quel Dorei. I think I will roll a Nelf mage and pretend she is a High Elf…

That’s how Blood/high elf characters looked in Vanilla, even sylvanas had a night elf model. It was a bit creepy looking at it now haha.

But have you heard? In Shadowlands night elves are getting blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair. The hair color is weird, but the eyes makes sense I guess. Tyrande has blue eyes strangely. Now it’s black though haha

Unnecessary comment, Ion has already survived an entire bad expansion in BfA, and so far he’s doing a pretty good job with Shadowlands, i don’t think he’s going anywhere.

There’s no reason to be mad at him now, we already got High/Blood Elf skin tones to Void Elves and we might got more stuff in the future, don’t be mean to him because you don’t get exactly what you want.

Is Ion biased? Maybe.

Incompetent? No, just no, if he’s in such a important position for such a long time, that probably means he’s know what he’s doing, and from what i’m seeing from Shadowlands, he’s doing a good job.

Yeah but I think there was no mage trainer in Vanilla in Nelf territory because they had no mages yet. I could be wrong though, there might have been a mage trainer for other races lvling there, I really do not remember.

In the world, probably all elves would have similar bodies, with Nightborne and Night Elves being a bit taller and that would be the only way to distinguish them apart from the skin and eyes. In the burning of Teldrassil, Sylvanas and that dying night elf looked the same except they had different eyes. Many people who saw that scene did not realize they are not the same race so… I would not mind roleplaying a high elf with a night elf model.

Blonde haircolor looks really weird on a night elf…

No reason? Oh honey …

I agree Ion is great. Might be a bit biased when it comes to High elves, but overall he is great. He has been around for a while and he does have amazing ideas.

And I also agree that we need to focus on the void elves now, as there is no hope for a high elf race.

With the customization coming, and hopefully two normal hair colors, we will have the high elves we seek, just with a different name.
