I like to Snatch a vein or a herb on my way too it. Maybe something else pops up, an Ally or two, a Horde or two… whatever it is… but this change will kill it.
Walking/flying to the instance plays a huge part in World of Warcraft Classic. Removing that will cause layziness, less World PvP, the Adventure itself is significantly getting killed.
I vote a BIG NO!!! for this. Removing walking is removing the world. One of the biggest mistakes the dev team did with Retail. Will they never learn?..
Play the beta and make your voice heard there. But yeah, I don’t like the summoning stones either. The only good thing I can think of about them is, guilds won’t need warlock summoning alts to get people to AQ40 etc. Though it’ll take a bit of the adventure out of the game while levelling, for sure.
There are no summoning stones outside Raid instances. Or are there? I don’t there there are. Only outside 5 man instances, right? Im spacing out, I’m not sure.
not sure if they were at Vanilla 1.12. but I do know that AQ has one for instance. Dungeons like Uldaman had them in classic, we used them a lot actually. At first they only enabled a LFG like UI, at one point they let you summon others, but that was very late in Vanilla, maybe even TBC.
Summoning stones make the world feel “safer” and we don’t want that nor like that. We want the world to be as scary and unpredictable as it can be. Don’t ruin the experience for us, blizzard.
As warlock main I can confirm that summons were prioritized for world buffed people. Or if some people were late, we would summon the last few.
I think getting from point A to point B is the big part of vanilla. Moving around the world.
If you can just take a summon, there will be more afking in main cities and doing nothing. Taking a flight path & zeppelin takes 5-10min, but it also keeps you involved in the game.
Is it annoying? Yeah, but we can get around it, that was the whole point of Kargath mages. So yeah I would say that instant teleporting is not true classic experience.
You only have 12 months you can’t stay walking the whole game the problem is going to happen with the minority faction of any realm, pve realms are going to turn more atractive.
Actually i wouldnt mind them, but by the other side if it hurts the community and it may possibly impact world activity, then its a no, another concern is the attemp of turning into lazy mode vanilla where ppl dont walk or fly, i always prefered summons tbh, due to buff pick ups for a fee however most of them was no infront of dungeons… the only reason i could possibly agree with summoning stones and i bet every will also agree is this “summoning stones only for raids” think of ur guildy locks, most of us get buffs and ask for summon for faster raid, usually we got not the time to fly coz it takes a bit especially at P5 flying down to AQ takes 10 min flight, and usually wb land 15 min b4 prime time raid and it blows up raid schedule. SO no summoning stones to dungeons, yes to raids, yes to WB.
As long as three players are required to summon i think its fine. To illistrate why: most summoning stones are far from the instance itself - Blackrock mountain for example. This stone is the perfect spot to camp for gankers. Any group that wants to avoid almost certain death will have to travel as before.
Other stones that are closer to the instance such as Stratholme main gate are rarely camped anyway.
The stones are there. Stupid to have them serve no purpose in my opinion.
Be careful when rejecting stuff “because #nochanges.” What Blizzard is doing here is nothing but minor adjustments similar to what private servers have very successfully done for over 10 years. Most of them gave a consistent, good vanilla experience even though everyone knew a few things were not as before. Let Blizzard copy the private servers. It is the best we can hope for.
This change is a good example of a survey mistake. The respondents surely thought about being able to get summoned to raids instead of the warlocks having to load up on 40 soulshards prio to raiding. Blizzard interpretes it as meeting stones getting converted to summoning stones is what people want.
The result is bad for everyone. Having a warlock for a dungeon is a perk and it should stay that way. Having a warlock to a raid should be a given and they should not have to farm soulshards offpath just to summon raiders.
You are reading too much into it. Assumptions as to why it gets implemented it is not important anyway. What is important is the impact which is arguably minimal.
Having warlocks is still a huge advantage especially on pvp-heavy servers where you can summon from a hidden location or much closer to the entrance than where the summoning stone is.
