MELEE should do MORE dmg than RANGED not less

In this season, melees definitely feel bad. I stopped playing my rogue because it’s much easier to deal DPS in Castle Nathria and M+ dungeons as a ranged class, and I say this as someone who mainly played melee in the past.

Yes, there are several bosses and M+ affixes where the melees and ranged are both evenly matched, but there are some where melees are at a huge disadvantage, such as Sludgefist or the Storming affix. There aren’t any bosses or affixes that are harsh against ranged classes (Volcanic is a joke, and Quaking is only a minor annoyance compared to Storming); ranged classes are always fine, whereas melees are sometimes a major liability.

Maybe the ranged players do more damage because they’re better players?

it is when u dont move and when u chase dmg … but in situation where u need to move… range need to move to stop casting … but mele can run around boss and still attacking

As a Hunter I have to do the obligatory jump, spin and moon walk while damaging from range though.

We do considerably more damage to a boss, or anything for that matter, then a meelee. All you do is hack at the guys feet and toes.
And its not even doing anything, Maby swing higer. ?
Besides, Ranged get alot more mechanics then meelee players.

All you do, is stab the boss feet and its not falling over. We the Range hit the Eyes, the face, the arms, the bellybutton the bewbs. Maby if its small enough you can stab it in its behind hole?

I think the “melee need to significantly outdps ranged” crowd forgets content other than raiding exists in the game. The idea of giving particularly ranged-favouring bosses increased melee dmg taken is a decent one, though. Just make sure it doesn’t work on BM hunter pets first.

Naw, I switched from rogue to balance druid and immediately went from lowest DPS in my raid group to consistently one of the higher ones, even though I played rogue for quite a long time and never played balance druid before, and balance druid doesn’t even have a particularly easy rotation.

Learning the raid fights as a melee also sucked. I died a lot in the first few weeks. I can’t really compare that aspect since I started playing ranged after I already knew the fights a bit, but I think that it’s easier to dodge stuff when you don’t have the boss and tons of explosions right infront of your face.

Completely untrue, a warrior can leap across and then use the bosses pullback to get where he needs to be.
Yawn, anything else you’d like me to refute because of your lack of knowledge or imagination?

Current balance is broken. (way-WAY more than ever)

Pure dps classes do more dmg, have better utility compared to some hybrid classes. Also many m+ affixes total hell for melee players.

You either ranged dps or you suffer.

Ranged are traditionally better than melee. This being said, buffing ranged for M+ was a good idea. But not buffing melee for raiding is not fair. I mean, unless they design mechanics in a different way, ranged is just plain better than melee in raiding.

Balance druid is extremely powerfull atm, so that’s why. + It is possibly also the most mobile ranged dps spec there is.

You should have tried switching to frost mage 2 months ago, and compare :joy:

There are no hybrid-tax like mechanics anymore.
It is just that many “utility”/buff spells from these kind of classes got gutted out during cata and mop.

Melee dont have to do mechanics ofc, they are unkillable smh…
U can sit here and deny it all u want, but no one can argue against that dungeons and raid boss fights in SL so far favours ranged

Sad but true. Would be nice to see return of tbc and wotlk classes/specs.
