oh aweet naive summer child
in random pugs its always 50/50 .
those off meta players could have put hundreds of hours and eventualy they get carried to those scored too.
its just not worth risking.

I would invite resto shamans even if they where not meta, its personal choice, because i know what i am capable of as resto shaman.
Why take a microwave meal when steak is on the table?
People listing their keys have the luxury of choice, so theyâll take whatever is supposed to be optimal, regardless if it matters for their key level.
The best way to combat this is to either not pug keys, or to list your own, at which point, you will most likely find a high scoring Warrior tank, DK, Aug, Mage and the cycle continues.
but that comparison is comletely off.
its like saying why take a great steak, if you cant wait arround for another great steak perhabs with better marbling?
btw my main is literally resto shaman.
Meta always trickles down into mid and low-level keys, that is just how it works. People consume too much media and give credit to streamer opinions, this is the result.
Of course you donât need X class to clear a +7, but people follow the path of least resistance, and there is always a meta, no matter what. For healers, this time itâs shamans, before that it was druids, even before that, paladins.
Letâs see what itâs gonna be next.

A 7 key is difficult for the audience of players that needs 7 keys, given the option of a druid or a shaman, nobody would pick the druid. Thatâs just the reality of it, people have options and they take the best options.
Itâs the same reason nobody will invite me and other dps Warriors. Thatâs why I play in a guild.
Seeing people 200 RIO and 2 key levels below me decline me from their groups is always fun.
I remember a time when Fire Mage rocked, and lower keys desired this spec, not realising they only shone when doing pulls beyond their comprehensive capabilities.
Thatâs the beauty of these Meta hunters; whatâs meta for the absolute top may not be optimal for the lower keys. Augmentation is, I think, also a nice exampleâŚit takes some effort to get this to work in a group. Not something that easily gets great when the output of the other two is average at best.
This just makes their keys harder, not easier, without them realising it.
Yep in pug none was taking me as a Healer or Dev, so i decided to give aug a try.
And it also has the added bonus of 99% of people being unable to tell a good aug from a crap one, thus being a stress free spec.
aug is a big bait in low keys. just a dps loss nothing gained really.
I think both are excellent examples, in the DF fire mage meta, in my weekly pugs I have never seen a âgoodâ fire mage, as that is a spec that needed to be played around to achieve why itâs meta.
Aug is just an ugly bait in any key except world first level, aug players since the spec have been put to itâs place are either bad, or play with bad teammates, and their lack of damage in either case can cost a key now. Obviously this is an absurd generalization, as there are good aug players, but you are not likely to find them in a +7.
Yeah but it is the prime example of people being easy to bait by looking at keys out of their league.
And also as i said, the spec come out with the added benefit of people being mostly unable to scrutinize you on the spot, which is a good plus to me.
I am fine playing my resto shaman. Just like i played it in the last 3 seasons, and 2 seasons in SL and 1 in BFA and full Legion.
im also fine playing mine. but its just sad to see when im on an alt with way higher than needed score and ilvl getting declined only beause the community thinks only shaman can heal 7-10
Im clearing 10s just fine with none meta class. And class can do 10-11 at least. Prob higher.
Maybe in tbc when u needed 3 cc, but aside that not much.
Why wouldnât they? People with relatively high scores compared to the key in question normally have their own agenda. Top of which is âif itâs not a smooth run Iâm bailingâ.
If your rating is too high youâre a leaver, if your rating is too low youâre bad and donât get invited.
Really making an argument for queue-based M+ here.
true but thats because aug is only as good as 2 other dps in group
if those are ⌠bad - then yes sure its always better to take 3rd dps and hope he will carry dps
