I know that the selling point of wow back then was that it is a more more casual friendly/accessible MMORPG.
Still there is a community that wishes wow has hardcore servers and they play the game pretending it is hardcore.

You don’t get world buffs, you do worse than people that did, you get no loot from the council. Many such cases.
