Metzen will add Ogres and Nagas one day

Rejoice! Now that Metzen might be overseeing things again we can look towards playable Ogres and Nagas in the future!

From the QA in Cataclysm:

Were Ogres ever thought of as a playable race, at one time?

Yep. We considered them for Cataclysm instead of goblins. Figuring out the females and the two-headed mages would be (fun!) challenges. Maybe someday.

I hope, but after the community crying for High elves for 18 years and getting a cheap disgusting Void elf instead, I am afraid that the day we get Ogres… they will be just be “pale orcs” or something.

But plz gib ogre!
I identify as ogre blizz!

Yeah. We can even hear that Chris did not agree on Blood elves being in the horde at the end there. He also said on the Blood elf clip that “We had to change alot of things to make it work!” Aka change the lore alot to make any kind of sense for the blood elves to be in the Horde. But they are there, Blizzard could just let the Blood elves stay as they were back in TBC were power meant everything to them and any magic, any dangerous magic was Welcome to them to rebuild their empire. But as time has past Blizzard tried to make Blood elves as High elves and given the Blood elf story to the Void elves were power means everything which makes no sense or to be in the Alliance. They fit more with the Horde.

Instead of using the Story the Alliance High elves already have and have nothing to prove their allegiance that Void elves now have to prove even when most of Alliance distrust Void elves becuase of their use of the Void since Alliance is mostly Light worshippers. And Why Draenai made sense to the Alliance as they also were Light worshippers. Wish that Naaru symbol was a customization for them than a skill. But maybe in time they can share with the Lightforged Draenai but have the blue or purple color on the symbols.

But Im curious what changes will be for Warcraft now that Chris Metzen is back even if he just an advisor. To make it more of the classic Warcraft that made Warcraft Universe so interesting that Warcraft Wow today is missing. The mystery, the Unknown of the Warcraft universe. Maybe they make a new enemy similar to what Legion was.

But I agree that Ogres should be playable and should have been long time ago. Well naga however might take more work to work as a playable race. But in my opinion both would fit better with the horde.

Honestly never made much sense to me either.

Alliance: ewww they use fel, they suck magic from animals. Ewww

Also alliance: welcome void users to the alliance. You and your tentacle hair are welcome

Lightforged Draenei: welcome void Habibi. I won’t crusade you…… yet. Let’s get married like alleria and Turalyon

Horde: ewwww void users, get out. We don’t want you. We are light based faction now. Begone

I always thought how Blood Elves as they were would bring a lot of internal conflict within the Alliance at that time aswell.

yeah Burning Crusade made ALOT of sense as to why they joined the Horde. They were cunning and wanted magic in any way possible to survive, Sylvanas was next door, Night elves didnt like magic at the time, etc.

But things changed right after TBC. the sunwell was restored, they eventually gained yellow and blue eyes. The night elves accepted the Highborne and mage class within their society, the blood elves become more and more blue in nature, to the point of almost leaving the Horde in MOP but jaina ruined everything. and Varian was willing to accept them fully into the alliance. that speaks for itself.

As for the void elves, i really dont need to explain why they stand out. shouldve just given us the elves from the Hinterlands with unique braided hair and tattoos. they were best friends with the Wildhammer, and they refused to use magic making them unique. A missed Oppertunity.

there is alot of Alliance races that have beef with the void. Light practicing humans, Lightforged dranei, Wildhammer dwarves, pretty sure the night elves too, etc. how they got accepted was because Anduin is too kind. if Varian was king, Void elves would not be Alliance lmao

Don’t get me wrong, internal conflict within the Alliance I see as a good and interesting thing.

Yeah Its like Blizzard flipped sides with Horde and Alliance. Are they going to in the future make the Alliance worship the void instead of the Light? That would only destroy the Alliance origin and story all together and also in turn ruined the Horde origin and story as well. I just don’t get why Blizzard is doing this. The Alliance always been religious and also drawn to natural world and magic and so they invite races that have similar beliefs or have same beliefs or close to it.

And the hordes beliefs has always been strength, honor and survival at all cost. But it becoming less that and more towards have Alliance is.

I think Blizzard knew that too but as Horde was litterly dying back in classic even thogh they had great PVP teams. they had to do something and they knew Allaince was asking for High elves and Horde wanted a pretty race to out balance the factions. So they put 2 and 2 togtheter and killed 2 birds with one stone. Made Blood elves playable on the Horde. Then when we High elves fans complained, they did the same thing again. Made the Sunwell instance that change back to how they were and ruined the blood elves story they had in TBC. Killed 2 bird with one stone… We still complained again and they made the Silver Covenant back in WOTLK and well it worked…for that Expansion but then we wanted to play them but Blizzard refused time and time again.

Actually they would have had only Yellow or Gold eyes as the Elves are always affected by the Strongest magic. Just like before even if some of the Blood elves drained mana from living creatures, they still had green eyes as the fel was always the strongest. And also their skin would eventuelly become just like the Lightforged Draenai, grey or bronze. in other words the blood elves would eventually turn to new kind of elves. Why they have blue eyes now is blizzard gave them that so people can RP as a High elf among the horde. Same for Void elves to RP High elves. Those Blood and High elves in Telogrus rift will eventully lose their green and blue eyes and get the void blue or void purple glowing eyes. Lorewise anyway and like the Blood elves that got reddish skin due to their exposure to the fel, their skin would get some blue tint or purple tint on their skin. Blizzard however never implemented that into the game but that is what would happen as they countinue using the void.

Well either way Im looking forward was Chris Metzen brings to the table.

You can easily make internal conflict now with the alliance.

I just gone state my bias here before I write my comment, I am a horde boii! I love me orcs, me trolls, me goblin! and obviously my smexy handsome belfie boi!!
I am a horde for life, and nothing would make me ever want to play as nubliance!

That being said, Alliance need their epic moment, to become a worthy enemy. I feel kinda bad killing the alliance, and sure you could say that the have won many things, taken Ogrimmar two times, done this and this, but it is always horde that has had the grand set pieces, we burnt the tree, Garrosh bombed Theramoore, horde took over land and blighted all of south shore. our actions shows, our victories are felt and look cool, the alliance victories are just, hallow or shallow.

One thing I would love to see is the night elves going “Nah nah, frick this whole peace thingie thang! we want blood!” and then they make this army of nature, filled with ancient treeants, their green dragon allies, furbolgs and others as their allied races, and they go into their ancient homelands of Feralas, take over the Zone make the ruins of Dire maul into their new capital and genozide any horde within their forest home.

Just rip the horde forces and settlements there apart with sword, claw, thorn and roots!

Then lets say we get ogre to join us, the few terrified survivals of Diremaul.

The ogres can settle in Dustwallow marsh or something.
Then to go completely nuts we can have the high elves take over Dalaran, land it in the cratre of Thramoore, then Dustwallow marsh can be made into a magical world-PVP zone with magical two headed ogres and high elves flinging spells at eachother!
give us the WAR in warcraft my dudes.

Have a good weekend.
with love.

I love this idea! It would be perfectly understandable and good timing. The night elves were a force to be reckoned with during Warcraft and are now dwindling by the day. Seeing Nelf refugees in Stormwind instead of other Nelf settlement like in Ferales or kinda bugs me.

For Alliance I would rather see broken than naga though. Naga are just straight up corrupted bad guys

Pls no… Would just be another L for the alliance. I think Tuskarr for alliance would make more sense.

You guys read into this kind of stuff way too much.

Think about how the game is now, and how the game can move forward as it is today.

Forget about the opportunities missed from the past.

All classes for all races, and Core Playable Races, like Vrykul, Ogre, Furbolg, Saberon, Arrakoa, Tuskarr, it’s been 19 years now, come on people at Blizz…

We know you hate Ogres and everything about Warcraft but maybe it’s time we went back to it and stop designing this game around pretty and cute stupid things!

What did you mean with this, exactly? Because this seems a bit passive aggressive to old fans.

He was in charge for what? 12 years? He never added Ogres back then. Why are you so confident it’ll happen now?

Are you saying I’m not an old fan?

nothing wrong with stupid cute things. But they also design stupid ugly things, we did just have Shadowlands after all.

The problem with Naga might be the gear appearance, especially on legs and feet. In that regard, it would be nice to see some lore on Naga returning to land and gaining at least temporary leg appearance back while out of water now that N’Zoth is defeated and they’re free of his influence.

Maybe, but mechagnomes and dracthyr both show that gear doesn’t always have to appear on a race on every part of the body, mechagnomes especially. So it’s still a possibility!
