I feel like I should post about it, mostly to vent, but also… for consideration. Maybe I did step into an actual mistake.
Mining is currently the most troubled profession. 30 minutes riding, two Fel Iron Nodes. I’m 318 at level 68, because even the entry dungeons require 325. I’m a tank. Consequently, blacksmithing is useless, too. (At least you can p2w that.)
I don’t seem to have much competition. It’s just nodes don’t exist, feels like having about 10 nodes across the entire Hellfire Peninsula.
I’m wondering whether there is some bug causing nodes to spawn in impossible places or somesuch. In the concurrent node system, even if somebody farms, others should just appear - like herbs do in Teldrassil.
From my practical perspective, Adamantite requiring 275 and Rich 325 would work to prepare for WLK. It’s simply not worth spending 150€ worth of my free time just to get mining. Because in a week or two it will be mandatory.
Given the time invested it feels wrong to drop Mining+BS in favor of Skinning+LW on a prot pally, but I strongly feel like that’s how I should have done months ago.
Tl,dr: Up Hellfire Peninsule concurrent mining node target by 5-10x. Thanks.
well thats how it was really… I was doing circles 2 hours in terrokar forest for terrocone and couldnt find one… found 2 bots flying and gathering… you can tell from the waya they move… but to be sure also whispered to them, was jumping in front of them when they grounded for herb lol… but all these was uneccessary really cause you can tell by how they move…
did report, 2 days later same guys was farming herbs there… wish there were GMs in the game as back in old game before everything replaced from automated systems…
Seriously the best way to do it is buy gold and buy the materials… is sad but true… except if you have 5+ hours per day and willing to compete bots
Can’t buy skill, though
Do you feel that standard players should forgo gathering professions altogether and let botting companies supply the market?
Stopped after 2 hours, 314 to 322.
I was planning to do Mana Tombs with/for a friend but oh well.
Somebody recommended to go back and mine Thorium (225) as a workaround.
Blizzard games often feel like Blizz should pay the players to do the menial jobs. Because:
Which target audience can do that? Certainly not paying customers.
What should be the case, after mining a node, another should appear instantly. (They do in most zones.) Being able to travel so long without seeing one, the concurrent node count for the zone is single digit.
It might be configured trying to prevent farming (including running dungeons for nodes), but they might be throwing the baby out with the bath water. Worse, as Elfwynn suggests, this actually promotes buying from bots or even p2w. Because my time is (super) valuable. However my (non-existent) bot is just efficiency. If it finds one node per hour, while I sleep / work, it still does its job.
Bottom line, I’ll likely reach 325 and forget about it tomorrow (and remember never to take mining, bs, engi or jc and also recommend everyone to stay away), but other players will keep having this issue.
Especially death knights, in caps, font size 192, red, blinking.
Why would Blizzard remove Bots when they make lots of $$ from them?
The Bots (businesses behind them) make lots of $$ from Players that buy Gold?
They ruin gathering professions, they disrupt the in-game Economy (if not screw it completely). All so that they can sell Gold to the Players that they are screwing over in the first place.
If you want to stop Bots then players need to work together and stop paying them for Gold.
If they aren’t making RL Money then they have no reason to continue ruining the game.
Too many Players looking for easy solutions and instant gratification just throw RL Money at their in-game problems, in this case in the form of Buying Gold or Boosts or whatever makes like easy.
What happened to the days when people played these games to have fun and enjoy themselves?
You incorrectly assume, that any node mined should instantly appear under your nose … when someone harvests a node, it might appear on opposite end of map or right on the same spot …
You say you are lvl 68, do you even have 100% ground mount? You are racing here with 310%+ speed people who are using optimized routes with their addons …
Ill tell you from my personal experience, that getting fast flying mount is super massive boost for harvesting professions, especially something like druid flight form …
Second thing is gathering addons, if you follow some random path, you wont find anything …
With gathermate it takes me like 5 sec flying through single hotspot, to see if I am racing with other people …
That’s a hyperbole
No, it’s just that something should be somewhere.
Just did a pre-nap lap of Hellfire without seeing anything at all.
Bots don’t go sleep. Not even worth considering waking up early.
Time expenditure is getting triple digit euros in salary terms.
And it’s raw work. Better if you quest, insane for tanks and healers.
Out of the 13€ monthly fee, 0.5€ covers server access, 0.0€ covers new content, so 12.5€ remains for actual customer service. Per player. That affords plenty of headcount.
In any event, what spotlights the problem: the nodes inside dungeons - requiring unattainable skill. How else do I sustain myself as a tank financially?
I’m trying exactly that.
Can’t afford flying mount without profession, can’t level profession without flying mount.
A perfect case of commitment bias combined with the lottery, three points away from success. It should be clear to new players that these professions are trap. Skin + LW for everyone, especially plate tanks.
Thanks for the inspiration I guess never give up and somesuch.
This is simply not true. Doing quests at 70, dailies (not every one requires a flying mount), fishing/cooking, playing ah, farming low level mats for people leveling professions before WotLK etc.
There are lots of ways to get gold for epic flying.
Bots are gathering with druid flying skill. Was semiafking one spot where you can see atleast 2 nodespawns in hellfire. All the time random druids flew to those spot, landed close and left, nevermind if there was node or not.
If there was node, they gathered it and left. Ive been reporting them, but nothing seems to happen, same or other bot-druids just go around.
First off, thanks for bearing with me
Got the last three points. Steam generator is off!
There are many ways indeed to resolve this. I really just wanted a problem statement, because solutions can be divisive. (“As a tank, I struggle to keep up with required skill to keep mining in dungeons. In fact, I struggle to even begin.”)
Personally, I just wanted to resolve this so that in the next few weeks I can benefit from nodes inside dungeons and at the very least earn 350. Purchasing flying at this point might be a major waste of money, as I have about 1500 gold across my entire account.
It was my decision to level everything to 70 first, instead of focusing on my 70 mage to farm money. It was also my decision to stick with tanking & healing on those characters, instead of respeccing and leveling organically, including gathering.
The question is, was it an objectively, overwhelmingly bad decision, and if so, should people be more aware of it. Or is it just my stubbornness.
In any event, I’ll be better prepared for WLK now, especially with the requirement of 350 only.
Edit: I also realize that with the imminent launch of WLK this might end up auto-resolved, iirc flying is cheap at 60 and flying license is available for Northrend alts. The only potential thing to keep on the radar is disturbance by bots or overpopulation in general.
I am sad when companies do not fix bots, but at least we don’t have hackers and modders like in GTA Online where they can cage you or take you out of your vehicle.
Years ago, Blizzard sued a bot company and won.
It costs them more to try to correct the problem these days.
Them suing the people who developed the “original” wow bot, Glider. They fought this for a while but in the end Glider actually went on
to become a Limousine rental company, and other big names like honour buddy rose and were taken down. Ultimately though botting was only really taken down by the introduction of the wow coin, because it essentially gave players a legit option to buy gold and it ended up making the value of gold that the bots could farm pretty much worthless.
I really dislike the idea that people should be able to buy progress but I guess that’s just how it is lol
It was 4am i was alone in the map and on a almost mono faction serv, 4 am, 4 mithril spawned only on the map.
This is so ridiculous, i understand know why playes buy gold to buy mats, because there is no ore/herbs
So this is Blizzard fault, to not put dynamic respawn or per chara layers.
