Thats a good point about Mages in TBC. From a nightmare , to a Rogue in Vanilla, they became a not so hard to beat class.
Yeah. I literally could only damage someone with shatter combos, and when that goes due to ubiquity of anti CC, gg (shadowstep, hunter with 20 sec CC immunity, losing burst advantage against healers). Not to mention rogues had 2x interrupts, what the hell was that about lol.
Think I’ll play a ret or a rogue in TBC persnally.
Classes in Raiding are indeed more viable, yet min maxers are gonna happen and there will be elitism even from ppl that are really away form min maxing but since there are a lot of “meme specs” raiding even now (me included) I don’t see it as an issue so, cheer up.
PvP Gear and Classes is going to suck unless you are RMP or a Resto Druid. PvP gear will NOT be usable in PvP (except maybe for feral tanks) because Resilence is a wasted stat in item budget and it’s something you need in PvP not to get oneshot. So no, don’t even try to say that PvP gear is going to be good in PvE and/or viceversa, especially now that we get spec specific raid tier sets.
Dungeons are indeed going to be good.
Professions, cannot say much. I don’t remeber how it was.
TBC dungeons, raids and professions were fantastic. PvP not so much.
There was a barrier of difficulty to raids like TK/SSC, although I suspect theorycrafting would have made this a lot easier now than it was back in the day.
You can always 2v2 instead of 3v3, you know.
And that’s where you either go resto druid or go home, maybe resto shamans might have a chance.
Ever heard of rogue + spriest? Rogue + Disc priest? Enha shaman + Hunter? Warrior + Holydin? Spriest + Mage? Seriously, for every class there’s at least one viable combo in 2v2 TBC.
Which is still a poor quantity of classes/specs while in BGs almost everything could work.
If BlizzVision does again the #somechanges and goes for PvP sets being a quotable also in BGs then I might consider it good.
How is it a “poor quantity” of classes when it covers every class in the game?
As for spec, it’s a moot point since you’d need to respec for PvP anyway. Ret PvE build, for example, is subpar for PvP and vice versa.
Nah one of the good things about TBC is that BGs aren’t the source of best gear for PvP (except for a few offsets that are very cheap to obtain). Not only this means that you’ll meet less premades in BG, but it also makes faction unbalance less of a problem.
PvE wise, I think its worth to mention the debuff slot limit increase to 40. That change alone plays a big part in making every class more enjoyable during raids.
The good badge gear and gems came in later in the expansion, same with “daily heroic”. Plenty also bring up Primal nether, but those were BoP for a very long time.
If they do as classic and launch the game on the end patch, both SSC and TK have a 30% DMG and health Nerf. And no attunements to bt/hyjal.
That 30% DMG was included in 3.0, in Pre-WOTLK. Just like Pre-TBC is not part of Classic, Pre-WOTLK won’t be part of TBC.
Also, the attunements and key requirement are the kind of content that could be part of the phases of TBC content. So, no attunements to bt/hyjal probably won’t be a thing from the start.
In fact, Pre-TBC should be the start of TBC servers with some sort of Phase 0 with max level still being 60 and TBC content still locked. The same for Pre-WOTLK in WOTLK servers. Why? Two words: PreExpansion Events.
If you like that poor excuse of an e-sport only done in roder to make money on twitch then I’m happy for you, yet I’d like not to be forced into something I don’t like in order to have the rewards meant for pvp.
Also no, Arenas are going to be far more comp dominated if even want to seccued, you are just attempting at comps that won’t make past 1900 rating once ppl remove a bit of rust and get some minor resilence.
At least it’s something I can queue with my pal on a night when we both feel like it…
… instead of in Classic where, if you queue as a pug, you’re going to be mercilessly crushed by premades most of the time - as Horde, at least.
We’ll see about it, but as someone who did play 2v2 back then as a Rogue (with a Disc priest partner) I definitely don’t expect Resto Druid teams to dominate to the extent you claim they will.
And even then, at least if I get to 1900 I’m still winning my fair share of matches. In Classic, there were days where even getting a single AV victory was simply impossible due to every other match being a premade from some hardcore PvP realm.
That’s why I said I’m happy for you, but why should ppl that want to organize larger groups be stucked in Arenas instead of enjoying larger (and more complex) and more warlike stuff be spit in the face without being able to achieve the complete pvp gear?
And ofc that Rogue + Priest aren’t going to suffer a lot a Resto Druid, it’s not like they are 2/3 of the RMP comp…
Because those people have wrecked enough havoc in Classic already, making BGs (especially WSG and AB) nearly unplayable for those who don’t have the time or gear to join regular premades. If you want to make premades in TBC, nothing stops you from doing so.
So let’s see… we already counted Warrior, Druid, Rogue, Priest, Shaman. Then we have:
- Warlocks, who synergize well with most healing classes (especially resto Shamans) and rogues
- Hunters, who can perform alongside a second DPS with some support/CC capability such as Rogues, Spriests, Retradins and Enha Shamans
- Mages, who couple excellently both with Rogue and with Spriest (as you yourself pointed out)
- Paladins, who synergize with different classes depending on whether they are holydins or retradins (I’m not educated enough about shockadins but iirc they can work alongside spriests).
Doesn’t this include all nine classes, now?
You seem to confuse the: “you can play this” with “you can actually get the gear with this”.
The only items you need a high rating for are shoulders (2200) and weapons (1800). Everything else has no rating requirements.
Which means you can’t get the full set without meta comps.
And anyway, there is no reaosn except personal bias about not giving the chance to get all the PvP loot from BGs. Which is incredibly stupid.
