Mists of Pandaria lost near 4 million subscribers

MoP being the best thing ever was always ‘fake news’. I played during MoP and have been a forum lurker before the Cata revamp and knew exactly what was posted, and to be frank it’s the same ol’ garbage we get today.

I liked MoP during MoP and not afterwards just to be trendy. I remember the grinding complaints about the Timeless Isle.

I did take a 6 month break during MoP but that had more to do with being burnt out, I levelled a monk from 1 to raid geared in time for raiding to start.

I rejoined in the middle of Throne of Thunder, my only regret that expansion.

it is … but i dont regret my decision … i dont feel like i missed anything lol.

I respect that but you quiting game doesn’t mean expansion was bad you know that right?

I have posted graphs. Actual data. You on the other hand lay claim on nothing but a few things someone has said.

The actual arrogance of this is beyond. Need to accept that the “best expansion” lost nearly 4 million subscribers hombre.

Let me correct

i heard mixed things about mop from friends while i skipped it some liked it some didnt.

Forgot forced quests, timelocks … so many bad things.

MoP was the only expansion that I pretty much skipped too. Had nothing to do with panda’s or anything like that. I found the content boring, levelling in the zones were boring (Have always hated going to MoP zones, so avoided them as much as possible) and end-game, to me, was boring too (Though I didn’t do much).

I started at the start of Cata, and have been told by a lot of people that Cata was the best expansion for dungeon difficulty, as they were all difficult. I hated the water zone, so avoided it, but, I enjoyed questing in Uldum, Deepholme and Mount Hyjal.

Firelands is still considered one of the better raids out there, DS being another one. Plus, Cata was where all the zones changed (Hence why I can’t mention anything about before xD).

WoD had it’s problem’s obviously, but, the content we WERE given was great. Levelling was amazing, and levelling alts was even better when flying was brought in (Treasures and Objectives). Garrison’s weren’t really mandatory, you only needed to do the short intro questline to unlock them, then you could move on and do what you wanted. WoD also brought in the legendary ring, which was a fun little quest-chain (Never did the back leggo from MoP, so dunno about it much xD). The ONLY problem people had with WoD was the content drought.

MoP is literally the ONLY expansion where I left near the start of it and didn’t come back until the newer expansion hit. Legion was terrible at the start, so I left and came back with Nighthold/ToS, BFA I did the same thing, left when Cruicible came out and came back when Ny’alotha hit.

Shadowlands is the first expansion (apart from Cata when I first started) that I left mid-way through the first patch and came back for the second. The raid’s have been great in Shadowlands, especially this one. Most of the bosses are fun to do (Painsmith being my favorite at the moment).

So, I didn’t judge it by it’s cover, I judged it by it’s content, and found it to be lacking. The ONLY good thing that MoP brought out was Timeless Isle. I missed being able to do that when it was content, but, I enjoyed going back to it and experiencing it.

Panda lands should have been a parllel game next to wow. F2P mmorpg. Making it part of Wow killed the game for the bigger audience.

Wow I didn’t knew Native American culture of the Taurens is European (surprised Pikachu face)

Or the Middle Eastern influence in Silvermoon

it was the beginning of blizzard eastern fixation…

it was also MoP where they introduced the cashshop…

how ironic when trying to appeal to the eastern market.

imo MoP is when blizzard went from a good company… to a greedy company.

It wasn’t MoP. The first buyable mount was the Celestial Steed which was sold in WoTLK. Little KT, Little XT and the Pandaren Monk were also sold in WoTLK. WoTLK brought in store bought mount’s and pets.

That’s why they stopped giving out player numbers. Because of threads like this. Blah blah subscribers blah blah. Man, buzzkillers trigger me so badly! I’ve been reading “WoW is dying” non-stop in the last 10 years. Just quit already and move on.

I don’t think it’s fair to say MoP lost them 4 million subscribers.

The descent that MoP shows is simply a continuation from the natural descent that was happening in Cata. The game was already on the decline for most people. At no point did MoP bleed subscribers.

Also look at how many people judge books by their covers. MoP only saw +600k subs, yet WoD saw around 3 million.

But no, you did not have to have a garrison to level in WoD. It was not easy, but I did it as a challenge as I did not likethe idea. Unfortunatly I can’t prove as the old achievements no longer show up in Armory. I’m only able to show leve 40 reached

So you where able to play in Draenor level and explore the content of the new expansion without using the garrison? And i do mean not use it not even once.

Because i think you missed the point, you could play MoP do the dungeons, raids, pvp and other content without getting the legendary cloak.

To claim the cloak from mop is the same as Garrison system from WoD that they changed in design is the same would be wrong. It was supposed to be an optional feature you could place in any zone, it was changed to the the tool to tell the story and expansion trough.

that could be true… but it was MoP when they added the cashshop as a in game feature.

Yeah, it probably was MoP when it was added in-game. I also find it funny that the cashshop in-game instantly shows up, but the support window either takes ages to show up, or doesn’t work at all xD.

I think every expansion loses millions of subscribers 2 months in. The initial hype dies and people leave. Peak is always at the start and you can’t stop it. Simply retaining peak is impossible. You can expect to lose 20-40% of your players half way down the expansion. PoE leagues are a great example of that. Four weeks in 20% of the players are gone. When you have 12 million subscribers losing 2 million is normal.

I do not disagree with you. It is not the same. I only tell you that it could be done
And yes you could go to max level without even touching that garrison, I did not open the portal for everybody until I was level 100.
