It is an absolute shame, that the first time MWs are remotely fun to play again after that botched rework for Legion, it gets back to being holy priest levels of engaging after 2 months.
Congratulations.
(Not salty at all)
We might be strong in shadowlands who knows but the lack of action and change is disappointing, like 2 changes to our talent tree.
Just seams like blizzard don’t have the Courage to do anything.
They are afraid to act after BFA fails.
I mean what is this whole unpruning thing, it’s like they are saying “ we failed and we are reverting back”
Why can’t they just keep pushing forward and believe in themself that they can make new spells that are even more amazing then the old ones, they did a great job with the DH class.
They need to understand that it’s boring to play the same spec for years. They need to innovate.
After all the prune monk has felt clunky like never before. I thought that maybe haste would fix it at the start of BFA but I was wrong. Now at the end of the expansion this class still feels clunky to play.
Shadowland MW is going to be garbage! If you pick crane playstyle you lose both statue and the new celestial ability. So basically if you pick crane you prune yourself even more than what you already get now .
Being an essence font bot doesn’t change in shadowland. I don’t care about the covenant abilities, it should not be a bandaid for fixing a badly designed class.
If this version of MW goes live in SL it will be a disaster for the class.
On a side note, for some reason Mana tea still has a GCD. I remember Blizzard clearly stating in an interview that they would remove GCD from abilities like innervate. It is still in the game.
Why 2 seconds again? 4 seconds was actually great for M+. I never liked this build personally, it feels degenerate and it does a lot more hps than the 2nd on the table.
But why make rising mist not relevant again? All you have to do is cap ReM at 8 and Enveloping mist at 5 and you have both upwelling and rising mist being competitive with each other. With the latter having a bit more hps (no degenerate levels) at the cost of a lot higher skill required.
I’ve actually changed my healing in M+ with new change. I’d pop enveloping mist on tank at the start of pulls and keep it extended for the majority of it, so your healing was always more effective and you could spend more time doing some more damage and have better mana management.
It doesn’t pump degenerate hps but it’s a different way to heal.
For the most part it will just work while for Mythic world first disc/pala will be there as usual. With how many placeholders monks still have in the alpha things could change.
And its not a widespread problem. Looking at logs:
60% percentile parses, Mistweaver are bottom with a large margin
90% parses, MW bottom with a smaller margin
95% MW top with decent margin
99% MW top with a huge margin
MAX - MW top with DOUBLE the number of the next class.
So this is a problem that only exists in the upper upper reaches. It is a fun playstyle, because it rewards correct use of high APM with higher numbers. If you look at the parses where the MW just builds out a lot of renewings and uses vivify for burst healing, its balanced. Soon as they reach the threshold of blanketing Enveloping mist, it becomes OP.
So the problem is not the 4 seconds to all… its the 4 seconds to Enveloping mists without diminishing return.
So Dear devs, take a second look at the actual cause of the problem, apart from corruption (we know its crazy but we all crazy so it evens out). And just make this change for enveloping mist, either by only lowering that extension, or capping the amount you’re allowed to put out like with glimmer.
I think we have a cool toolkit
We are one of the strongest healer if not the strongest, but we suffer from Mana issues and low DPS in M+. Rising mist let us stay efficient while giving an incentive and more downtime to do dmg.
Now that is getting gutted cause some top players had 100% uptime on 10+ Enveloping mist in raids.
They could have just removed the 4 sec on Enveloping mist only and add a 5% increased healing on enveloping mist per RSK. This would not make it OP since enveloping mist cost allot of mana.
Now they can deal damage with very little if any sacrifice to their healing. Get HoTs, then dps the crap out of the boss/mobs.
Now you have to alternate between them, dealing damage when there is no stress on the party/raid and switching to healing when there is. This is how you are meant to play dps dealing healers. The only exception is Discipline, and they have their own weaknesses, like practically no healing outside of attonement.
Cool is subjective. If they removed all our abilities and only left us with essence font that has infinite channel. You would of course find people calling this cool. Just like DH players thinks they are cool.
And beside I already knew they would destroy this talent. If you check Blizzard nerf history. They are quite notorious when it comes to nerfing any over performing ability to the absolute ground. It was all a matter of time.
Mistweavers don’t bring anything except the physical debuff and renewal, having high healing on demand is literally all they’re good for and you’re killing the only reason mythic guilds are taking us these days, now they might as well replace us with another holy/disc priest or glimmer paladin that have much more powerful raid utilities unless they’re doing hivemind and the aoe poison get through…
If your friends replace you just because you are a wrong class then you might want to reconsider your friend-making strategy.
Unless you are a Method but then you need to have all classes alts at the ready anyway
Why focus on holy shock? Glimmer can be used anytime, but it has a cap. You can’t afford to waste GCD on crusader strike, consec or judgement when your party/raid needs healing. What glimmer does is allowing you to heal targets you previously holy shocked to be healed when you deal damage with it.
With monks you used all your GCD for damage once you had your HoTs on the target.
