“One of the requests we have in to further improve how we monitor and support community health is to more easily surface these bad actors through reporting*. These data points and dashboards take time to get developed and updated, but it’s something we do take seriously and are working with partners on how to handle these types of infractions more intelligently with data rather than looking at reactionary reporting.”
From the link Twiluna posted earlier It seems it is something they are working towards, I just hope that they can implement something sooner rather than later. I will stress again that this is my personal view, but I do believe the present system can be abused and it leads to a culture of ‘forum bullying’.
This would all been avoided if we posted on btags.
We just have to trust the moderators look into flagging
Yes i personally I’m flagged by blood elf mains who stalk me. Mods are their buddies on Twitter probably.
Yes i personally I’m flagged by human mains who stalk me. Mods are their buddies on Twitter probably.
I find it to be very much unlike that. The usual mass flag is when it is either merely a link to a YouTube video or similar.
There are all sorts of differing opinions flying around these fora and I have seen very few ‘hidden replies’ that hadn’t broken the ToS in some way.
Get a life stalker
I would never flag you Retributor!
Stop giving me a bad name
Oh my i read that as faci** abuse.
I’ve seen more than a few… Usually on topics that usually devolve into name-calling anyway.
Ive been on the end of it as you know and there are some cliques on these forums and never make comments about AD or agaisnt streamers its instant mass flag .
Moderation on these forums is strange i got a week ban for teaseing Puny a irl friend .
Yet another poster threatens to harm another and is allowed to carry on posting its not right the whole system is trash.
What they meant was one post had been flagged many times.
Anything that empowers a player or forum user over another is wrong and should be removed.
This sort of thing is open to rampant abuse, the only people who should have any authority to silence/mute/hide posts are Blizzards official moderators who should be doing their job and not leaving it to the players to do.
Anyone flagging a post that doesn’t contravene the rules should them selves be punished with a ban.
Your post demonstrates exactly why you keep getting flagged and silenced. You don’t bring any coherent arguments into the topic you just use it as a platform to bash ‘snowflakes’, as you put it.
I assume that most of the hidden posts are the ones where the name calling is going on which, if indeed the case, proves that the system is working correctly.
It is ironic that the post immediately above yours is one whose entire purpose is to name call against what the poster perceives as people being too delicate and not worthy of a voice on a public forum.
I understand that there are flags for abusive language or name calling, but there are also a lot of instances where this is not the case and posts are still flagged and that is an abuse of the system. I know that several people have said on such posts you are only silenced for a while as Awoogal posted, but you have still received a punishment even for a couple of hours, do the flaggers receive a punishment?
What I was trying to say is even if you are only silenced for a while, do the Moderators track on who flagged? If certain posters are doing this on a regular basis and if it is the same group of posters? If this is not being tracked then it is just open to abuse as I stated earlier.
I think Bagdawg summed it up with
The only thing I would change is to say that any groups found to be consistently flagging posts, or posters that do not contravene the rules, should themselves be punished.
Simply having a different opinion than the majority always leads to flags, that’s why people don’t express their true feelings, i on the other hand couldn’t care less, but alas there’s some sad people out there.
If what you say is true Wolfblud then I find it sad. I love some of the debates threads I read, people with differing views having a healthy debate is fun, if we all had the same views it would be a boring world. As long as people stick to the forum rules and don’t become offensive, then I see no reason why people can’t express their feelings on a subject.
I don’t think that what Wolfblud is saying is necessarily the truth. A lot of posters who cannot abide by the ToS and find their posts being hidden or actions made on their account immediately decry that it is because their opinion differed from the masses, or that Blizz is trying to stifle Free Speech rather than face the simple fact that 99% of the time it is the fact that they cannot follow the rules of the forum.
Go into any big thread on the forums, especially the ones about multiboxing, and you’ll see people from both sides of the spectrum arguing vehemently for their cause but the majority of those posts aren’t flagged.
Occasionally, yes, a strong opinion, one like the Sylvanas fan post, will attract a crowd of people who don’t want to engage in open debate and will then flag the post until it is hidden but usually, unless it does flout the ToS, it will be unhidden once reviewed by a Moderator. I personally hope that those who repeatedly false flag something also get their comeuppance but as Blizz will never reveal details of actions taken we will never know.
Is the system perfect? I cannot argue that it is but much like the current vote kick system in dungeons, it is the least worst option we can have.
I agree Osangar. You are right the system isn’t perfect but it is what we have to accept at present, at least we do have an option to report
