Moderator attention, please delete thread

Retributor, just stop for a second and take a deep breath and ask yourself if it’s maybe, just maybe posts like the one quoted above might be why you are getting flagged and banned? Perhaps multiple people, and the forum moderators don’t appreciate your attitude at times??

What, you mean like calling people names and even

might get him flagged? How utterly curious.

Given the paranoia that some people exhibit and the assumptions they make about who is flagging them and why, I agree that it’s a very bad idea to know who flagged a post as that’s sure (in some cases) to lead to revenge flagging or in-game abuse. Posters might be scared to flag inappropriate or offensive posts because they might be targeted, which isn’t right. It’s bad enough when people just think they know who is flagging them.

Oh, young ones, young ones. The purpose of the forums were always flaming, stalking, and conspiracy theories. In this day and age, you may attempt to hide that behind “forum rules”, “codes of conduct”, but that doesn’t change the fact what people use the forums for. As perfectly exemplified by this very thread.

Y’all should grow some thicker skin, really. Back in my days, getting flagged was a feat, a sign of standing up to the status quo. Back when punk was a compliment.

I miss the old days.

Sadly this…

…only adds to the flames and conspiracy theory.

I will go back to what I said earlier, I was wondering if the Moderators just checked flagged posts and unflag if no rules are broken. Or, do they actually track who flagged the post if no rules had been broken and if said flaggers did this on a regular basis?

I don’t think it’s an unreasonable question to ask, especially if it cut down on ‘forum pvp’.

Sometimes you see posts that were hidden are later unhidden so it suggests that someone is at least reviewing what’s being flagged. Whether any action is taken on false flaggers, I don’t know. Since we’re not supposed to discuss bans on the forums, it would be against the CoC for someone to come forward and say that they had been silenced for false flagging. Which suggests that we’ll never know, unfortunately. You’d like to think that people who do bad things get punished as it makes others more inclined to play by the rules.

That’s the idea where i wanted to and this guy explained it in the best way possible:

There are some “regulars” in this forum that always have a contradictory opinion, even if you came with a reasonable claim, complain, opinion. And now, to add more “salt to the wound” of the problem, Blizzard decided to “transform” the forum into a altered facebook forum version.
From my basic knowledge, a forum has the purpose to let people express their positive or negative opinions about the game, so that Blizzard can apply the proper changes to the game to improve it. Nowadays, this forum has become a “like fest” where users compete who is more “diplomatic” and “likeable” than others and this alters the way of expression and exposure of opinions.
As i said above, in my opinion we should not be divided into “colours” just because i am liked more by others. If you want likes and different colours, go on facebook. This should be a forum where we share opinions about the game, not a place where we “farm likes” .
If it where up to me and i would be Blizzard i would do the following:

  1. promote some dedicated players as mods to mod the forum so that i would not need to hire staff…boom: money problem solved
  2. all players to have equal status , no craps like MVP and other sh#ts like that
  3. Flag button removed completely and that “flagging” job to be taken by the mods, who would apply Blizzard forum rules, not the players.

Boom…everyone happy.

P.S. : Blizzard was smart: to make money economy and reduce their staff, they added these “automated report/flags” system in forum and game, so that basically in theory, the players do Blizzard job to maintain order. But what they didn’t took in consideration (or they took it, but they didn’t cared) is the fact that people will always abuse systems and the result is visible now.

I think you would love that, if they thought the same way you do.
I think you would hate that, if they didn’t.

Being a Mod is a largely thankless task, with endless accusations of favouritism/authoritarianism.

Yes, that is sadly the case for many topics. Posters in favor of playable Alliance High Elves know this very well. There are even Discord servers out there where they direct organized mass flagging against specific targets, hunting their post history and flagging anything they suspect will get them suspended or silenced.

It’s all very sad if you think about it.

Well, people like Punnyelf would be thankful if they would get mod status. Basically, this “cute lady” joined the forum 545 days ago and she has a total of 20+k comments. She made minimum 37 comments/day, she has almost 80 days of read-time. Basically she spent almost 3 full months of her life reading the forums (or 3h daily)…can you imagine that? 3h daily only to read forum and comment? I don’t have 3 full months of total /playtime…lol. And she read almost 300k posts in less than 2 years. This “cute lady” is living for this forum, not for her life…so she suits perfectly to be promoted as mod.
But as usual, Blizz, always does the oposite: they promoted her to VIP status for free and not asking nothing in return. And trust me, there are plenty more like her on this forum.
Only by looking her profile, you can clearly see how this “cute lady” begs for mod status. So why don’t they give it to her? I would. I don’t mind.
But what i can’t get it in my “mediocre” mind, is : why would they give to a person VIP status for free and for nothing? She did nothing useful. 3 solves out of 20k comments. That’s less than 0,0000001% positive contribution. Just to make her “special”? Good that i need to pay real money so that i can comment on this forum…lol.
(For those who don’t know, if you have a inactive game (WoW) subscription, you can’t post in the forum, you can only read…smart, i must admit it, nice “way” to silence players who quited or what-ever )
If this forum have such “dedicated fanatics” , why don’t they use them? It would be a mutual satisfaction: Blizz would get a mod for free (no need to pay him a wage) and she (Punnyelf) would be a “star” in the forum, she would have that feeling she craves for, the feeling of likeness, authority, respect, fame, etc. It’s a win-win for everyone.

P.S. : Why Retributor comment was flagged? He didn’t said nothing offensive or rude…Another example of pure abuse. Good job Blizzard…keep it like that.

The post you are referring to was flagged because it broke the ToS on multiple levels. It was targetted against a particular poster, and their supposed army of fans/alts and was also not related to the thread in question.

As for the rest it would be worth it for you to read up on the MVP programme as you don’t seem to understand it at all nor have you taken into account that this new forum is 545 days old and thus anyone who first posted on these new fora when they went live would also have joined the forum 545 days ago.

However all this is as off topic as the thread you have called out for being flagged.

How long a player has played or how many posts they read/comment on is irrelevant, your implication that they have no life is rude and mocking, you state that you don’t have 3 months full play time as if this makes you superior to others that do spend more time on the forums. Ever thought it just maybe that they have a lot more leisure time than yourself and they may actually enjoy the forums? It is not for you to say who can or can’t post or how many posts they have read, and in this case it is you who are abusing the CoC.

He also turned it into a name calling, exactly the same as you are doing.

I have politely asked you to stick to the thread which is about abuse of the flagging system, yet you continually try to derail the topic into abuse of individuals. So yes I will be the one to flag your post.

So what? Everyone target’s Trump, yet they don’t get deported out of the country. Seriously?

It’s not mocking, it’s reality. No normal person would do something like that unless he is as i described. No offence, i didn’t targeted him, i didn’t mocked him, i just portrayed the reality.

It was a comparison and for sure i didn’t thought about “my superiority” …but if you already started this…maybe you’re right. :))

Enjoy what? 80% of the posts made on this forum are ONLY COMPLAINS from players against Blizzard or the game. So what is so “enjoyable” to read complains for 3h/daily?

I didn’t said nothing regarding this. Don’t bend the topic. From my point of view, he can spend 10h/daily reading and commenting, if that is what it makes him happy…i don’t really care.

This is not a name calling. When you “quote” me i can also interpret that you are “name calling” me. If you would think like that, i should report/flag any comment that has my “quotes”. It’s a fact. And that my friend you can’t distinguish.

As far i know, we still live in a democracy. I know that Blizz wants to move slowly towards the big “yellow” change from the East, but for the moment, here in EU i can say what-ever i can, as long i don’t insult people (which i didn’t).

Crack on.

Well, i apologise…w8 2 min and i edit my post.

And what, exactly, has this got to do with a WoW forum?

General Discussion isn’t the only active board on the forum you know. Not all boards are full of whining posts.

Don’t be so judgemental of people :woman_shrugging:

Whatever your issue with Puny is it’s far more disturbing than her usage of the forums she is an MVP for of a game she enjoys.

And now you imply they are not a normal person? Seriously?

What one person finds enjoyable another may not. Are you are telling people what they should or should not enjoy?

You contradict yourself with the earlier statement you made.

When I respond to you I respond to a quote you have made in this thread. I do not go on then to discuss another character in game and lay blame on them individually for X, Y, or Z reasons. You have done this and I am sad you can’t see the difference.

Thank you, I will

It’s nothing personal against her…it’s against all MPV’s. She just got unlucky, because she is the only one i remember (because i saw too many comments of her, way too many and useless btw). There where a few more, but those guys are more silent and i was lazy to search for their names, so that’s why her name appears more often.

Go any forum section, count the first 50 posts and tell me how many of those 50 are complains. At least 35-40 posts are only complains. So it’s a reality, not a personal judgement.

I had a post flagged not long ago, just got a message about it.

I just want to know which one it was :anguished:

I can not see the error of my ways.
