Modern WoW rant , and goodbye

WoW has become too fast for me. The release of the new expansion was on August 26th, today is September 14th  And I already have 3 characters at level 80, another one on the way, campaign completed, lore master as well, and I played casually, only when I had time after work… It pains me that Warcraft has changed from a game where the content was leveling up, exploring, and learning your class, into a complete sprint to endgame and spamming raids and dungeons/delves ;/ Nothing in this game matters anymore, even quest items all look the same, the RPG element has gotten lost somewhere, no more items with resistances to cold or fire ^^. Now in WoW, you have the same set appearance from questing and raiding, zero uniqueness ;/ Back in vanilla times, you did tough quests for some cool blue item and getting it made you feel really good. And now? Oh, another green item, only this time with mastery whatever, time to mindlessly rush into the next quest, jump into 100 mobs, light up like a Christmas tree, and run to the next one, because at level 80 I’ll be farming gear for a month in mythics, only to throw it away 3 months later because a new catch-up mechanic came out  The game used to respect your time and progress, now it’s a rat race, everything is instant burst… zoom zoom  I understand the game is aimed at ā€˜modern’ players and there are people who enjoy this kind of gameplay, but this isn’t the game I fell in love with 20 years ago ;/ It saddens me because WoW has been a part of my life for years, but the time has come to hang up the sword and shield on the wall  Just a little rant to end the day… Cheers.

Please hand over your stuff toe for ā€˜safekeeping’

bro the game has been like this for many nany expansions. Its just getting worse.

You have season of discovery if you want leveling.Personally i play both. Sometimes i just want to pvp or do retail content, then i just want to chill and level ny SoD character. I swap betwen both depending on the mood

I am near certain that anyone who claims to have completed the campaign and leveled multiple alts, has not actually played the game properly.

I am spending on average more than 4 hours per day playing. That’s deep into no-lifing. I read every quest. I spend time farming materials. And yet:

  • I have not yet completed the full campaign. Still at 2/5.
  • I have not yet done any delve above tier 4.
  • I have not done a single dungeon on any difficulty above Follower
  • I have not yet gotten my production profession above 50.
  • My primary alt is still 70 and in Valdrakken.

You guys are not reading the quests, you are following guides to optimize your grinding sessions and you are almost definitely NEET. You don’t play properly. And you have no right to complain about the game being too fast to consume or lack of content.

I bet you’ve amassed a lot of gold in that time and no longer need it. I’ll take it off your hands

Didn’t read your rant, but bye!

What is properly though?
It will be different for each person, because we value different things.

I have completed the campaign on my main, including the max level part.
I leveled 2 other characters through different means (dungeons spam mainly).
I leveled 1 other character by playing through the campaign a 2nd time (not 100% done yet, but I’m at the max level part and done a significant percentage of that).

  • I have done delves up to t7 on my main.
  • I have done the campaign dungeons as follower dungeons. I have done all dungeons on normal. Most of them on heroic.
  • I have gathering maxed on my main, my production profession is in no hurry because I’m still not a fan of what they’ve done with it since DF
  • I have 4 characters at lvl 80

I have read quests. I don’t follow guides.
I have no clue what NEET is.

I… do.

Now, that’s not to say I agree with everything the OP is saying; in fact I disagree with a fair bit. But to claim:

Is just silly.

In the end everyone plays how they want. I leveled only 1 toon. I should be farming M0 and heroics for gear upgrades…

But im just terribly bored of rolfing dungeons… Its just not fun for me.

So i play Darktide untill Wednesday. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Defenetely not worth a rant like OP…

I’ll never understand why people feel the need to make elaborate ā€œI quitā€ posts. Misery loves company, I suppose.

I’m sorry m8 for your frustration. I can relate to it and agree in many aspects. WoW has changed quite a lot and I honestly also don’t like the direction it has been taking the last couple of years. Too much fast fast faster and no time to dwell into things or gettting a feeling of really having achieved something. It’s just ā€œjob doneā€ - ā€œnextā€. So hollow in the long run.
However Blizzard seem to believe that the audience that they want to cater for appreciates that. I don’t think they are right but time will tell…or rather subs will tell.

Sometimes you have to close doors to have new ones opening up. So I wish you farewell - take care wherever the path will take you!

No, there’s not.

I agree. Not that sharing your disappointment is wrong, but if you’re ready to quit; just quit imo.

TBH whatever your opinion of the staggered release it’s not changing.

The season opens proper on Wednesday, and I’m sure we’ll see you back for it.

This part of the season is the hardest part, sort of like the 3 hour wait at the airport before you go on vacation, you know the enjoyable part is coming, but the plane won’t come any earlier.

There is nothing wrong in feeling the way you do, and you make the right decision in giving up the game for a while/or for good (whichever you choose). If you no longer enjoy the game, then it’s pointless to continue, so I say yes take a break, check out other MMO’s or other game genres that may appeal. In time you may even return to WoW  If not I hope you find a game that gives you the same enjoyment as WoW once did. Good luck and take care.

Because ppl get frustrated, sad, angry - emotional - about a game they probably spent years on and now they ā€œfeel out of loveā€ with it and its over.
Human nature.

Many people share your thoughts.
That’s why Blizzard have Classic Era, Classic Hardcore, Classic Season of Discovery in addition to a progressive Classic that now has reached Cataclysm.

Many people also do not share your thoughts
Thats why Blzzard have retail.

The game is not designed for the original fanbase anymore. It’s all about being competitive in seasonal gameplay. Yes we get a story and some quests to keep people happy but it’s not the main objective anymore and it hasn’t been for a long time.

Quitting because you don’t enjoy it anymore is the best answer. Hope you find what you’re looking for somewhere else.

I wonder if there will be a ā€œi am quittingā€ post where the OP actually uses the delete account button.

Bruh, you’re either lying or working for a couple of hours a day, or you’re mindlessly running through content.

Either way, Vanilla is a thing y’know

Unfortunately your post will always attract those with a negative view to differing opinions.

Yes back in Vanilla you have sets that looked different, you had items that were so rare the mere sight of one would make you inspect so hard the other player must have felt a disturbance in the force. And yes the zones were large ā€˜feel’ even if they were small and the quests were dotted around [flightless took time] so the levelling experience felt paced (some would say slow).

Once you had cleared a zone you followed progression to the next, there was no need for 3 different mats of the same name and you found recipes instead of jumping through hoops to craft. I get it the Vanilla experience felt like you worked for something, but back then it is also fair to say we were a LOT younger, less responsibilities and certainly more time on our hands.

If you compare that with the current iteration in retail then you will see that flying everywhere in mere seconds makes even the largest of the zones feel small, and because you are going point to point the speed in which you quest will naturally increase.

I fully agree that the feeling of uniqueness as gone, the time of seeing someone hold or wear something like WOW what is that and where did it come from have gone, because there is generally an item already in the transmog that appeared whilst you vendor trashed that 10 millionth green item.

All games now no matter who makes and what genre they fall into want their player base to experience ā€˜end game’ because that is were they know they can make them strive to compete to not only be better than their peer, but challenge themselves, and good for those players who want to be the very best at what they do, I know my 40 year old ### can’t be bothered min maxing to the enth degree but I will happily go for the HM kills and the odd mythic

Your loss unfortunately will only be felt by those players that were on your friends list / guild list and the rest of the community wont even notice, unless you write a post and your views are valued and ignored in the same breath.

I wish you all the luck and hope whichever game you end up on, you have the fun and engaging experience you once had with WoW
