I remember that 15 years ago Garr gains strenght for each add killed and
become “very very” strong if all adds are killed before him.
It seems to me to remember that is called “Supreme Mode”
Because of this the strategy was to keep banished at least 4 adds, kill Garr and then kill the adds later on.
But currently on classic Garr seems not being empowered anymore.
Does other “veterans” remember such mechanics on Garr encounter?
Last night the raid I was on, ranged killed all the adds. while the melee were damaging the Boss, After killing all add the ranged turned against Gar (was with approx 70% hp) and we easily killed the boss down to zero.
for everyone that played vanilla?
you could feel that there are tons of changes between classic & vanilla, some of them due patch 1.12, and unfortunately back then Blizzard did only describe most notes as “edited this encounter” so there is no way for people now to know the real edit in those patches!
there could be tons of nerfs and no one will really knows!
but one thing is for sure to be known! Classic isn’t Vanilla
i think you are confusing the majordomo fight with garr as the adds on domo grow stronger when the others die.
garr was the cc encounter with bomb adds which he would detonate if within range
i did not raid too much back then but this i at least remember.
also i wouldnt compare classic & vanilla as there are many diffences and no reliable way to compare them fully either
I’m fairly sure I encountered this mechanic on our first weeks, when we killed all adds before boss. Now we just zerg boss and aoe adds after, but the tanks were really being pounded hard after killing the adds.
