Moonglade server RP: Greeting the new Moon?

Hiya!

I'm returning from a few years away and I just wondered if you still watch the new Moon rise in Ashenvale? (Monthly Moonglade Server RP event)
I've been looking around in whatever forums I can find but I have not been able to locate it, so maybe it's no longer a thing?
If you're a Moonglade roleplayer; Do you know what I'm talking about?
Is it still happening?
If it is: When is it and where can I find some info abut it?
If it's not: You wanna go and look at the moon with me? :)

Love

Hello and welcome back! =)

I've personally never heard of this particular RP event, or whether it still occurs,
but recent lore events have drastically changed the situation in northern Kalimdor for the night elves.
I don't know if you're caught up with the story since you left, but Ashenvale and Darkshore have been razed by Sylvanas, and Teldrassil burnt down.
So the current state of those zones don't exactly lend themselves to moongazing! :)

My night elf characters, for example, were evacuated to Stormwind with the rest of the refugees.

So yeah, not sure if this is helpful in any way, but feel free to say hi should you run into Enalore, Sathine or Nakitaa! :)

Oh, right.
I actually haven't cought up with that storywise, but I've seen the cinematic.
That changes a lot, of course.
Thanks! That helps a lot! :)

Hey Kitten, first of all: welcome back!

Secondly, I am afraid nobody is organizing this old event anymore. I remember them from back in the day and often enjoyed coming. But I do not know of anyone who tries to get them organized again now.

Also as Nakitaa pointed out, Ashenvale would currently not really be the place for it anymore I am afraid.

Thank you!

Yes, indeed, with all what has gone down (no pun intended) it's understandable that Ashenvale isn't our go-to-place anymore.
One can still see the old Moon-shrine remains there though.

Maybe we refuge Nightelves can huddle together in the new Stormwind park instead? Can you get a good view of the moon rise from there?

Ohh, I remember the Moonrise events from back then - lovely memories, that was such a good server tradition! That was back when all the major Nelf guilds like Handmaidens and Shadow Sentinels were around..

Maybe it would be a lovely RP project to get this going again?
I'm not aware there's currently an active Nelf guild around, but with a bit of advertising in the forum and /LookingforRP you might be able to assemble some RPers :-). I will happily join if around!

And indeed. Maybe after the current circumstances the Nelf refugees could pick a different spot? I believe the coast of Westfall or Stranglethorne might give some amazing vistas..?

If you're in the park in Stormwind, you'll see the Moon rise starting around 21:30-21:40 Realm time.
There is a little glade on the cliffs just southwest outside the wall of the Mage Quarters that makes for a lovely spot. Allthough I'm not sure you can reach it without a flying mount.
It has a nice area for a meeting and then you can walk up to the edge of the hill for a great view of the moon.

Edit: Links to pictures removed since they were on Enjin and burned in the wreckage.

Are you still doing the Moon rising thing? A few Shadow Sentinels are still around in some form, and I’d love to attend.

(I can’t switch to my Shadow Sentinel character for some reason  )

I wasn’t aware of this tradition, that sounds like a great monthly(?) RP event!

I only started roleplaying a couple years ago, and I hear the Moonglade (/Steamwheedle Cartel / The Sha’tar) RP is only a shadow now of what it once was…

We try to gather those interested in the LookingForRP in-game chat channel… I’m sure this tradition will be welcomed there

By the way, when is the next new moon rise in Stormwind? Does it follow Earth’s Moon, in the timezone matching Moonglade’s realm time?

Hm, I can’t quite remember… I believe not, it was a fixed day every month if I remember correctly.
As said before, I would dearly love if we could actually revive this server tradition. It’s true, with many of the big RP guilds gone it’s a bit harder to grt the little pockets of RPers organized, but would happily volunteer to help get things going. Unfortunately I have no Nelf chars, but my main always had ties with the Kaldorei, so would be happy to involve myself.
Maybe we can connect ingame to see what we can do?

Alyrienne, happy to hear there are still some Sentinels around!!

Uh oh, wrong char. This is the main in question

My night elves are unfortunately either Illidari, Ebon Blade, or relatively low level…

But if the location for new-moon-rise-gazing is accessible without flying, or if someone has a flying passenger seat they’re willing to share, I could join on a living, non-demonic Kal’dorei.

(Death knight or demon hunter is an option, theoretically… Although I think want to gauge the attendees’ resentment towards those with dead or green eyes, before I consider bringing one to a gathering of personalities who, according to several RP guides, might not at all accept/tolerate such individuals

Actually Kitten had a wonderful idea with the Stormwind Park above, check the screenshots.
Given the current Kalimdor situation and that a large flock of Kaldorei (and Worgen) refugees got relocated to Stormwind, it would also make ICly sense that they brought one of their beloved customs with them.

Thus doing it in SW would feel nice and inclusive, since the Alliance shuffled closer together in the light of the new conflict.
My opinion, but maybe there are spots in the elven lands the Nelves would deem more suiteable? Feralas or such?

Most of my alts are Draenei, and none Nelfs, but Nat here was ICly always involved in the Nelf community and in the Ashenvale conflict, so would definitely love to be around on this char. I agree that a DH would stretch it a bit, but maybe we can find a few Nightelves who would like to get things going again?

A Worgen druid involved in it would make total sense though?

Giving this a wee nudge! So we got talking in Moonglade/ Shatar/S’Cartells channel /lookingforRP, and decided to have a little get together sunday night to discuss and plan on how we could revive this age old Moonglade server tradition :upside_down_face:

If anyone loves this and would like to get involved, feel free to post/ get in touch!

Also it would be amazing to find interested Nightelven players, because it has always been in Kaldorei hands (back in the days when Moonglade had multiple Nelf guilds)

I know a gnome with a 2-seat rocket.
I’m sure she’d be happy to shuttle people, if needed.

So happy to see you pick up this ball. Following with interest!

That is so great to hear, sadly I can’t this sunday myself but I hope you work out something. I’ll try my best to take Sil or one of the other nelves to the events when they happen in the future

I think this Sunday will be a discussion/planning “meeting”.

The actual gathering to watch of the rise of the new moon was preliminarily suggested for Sunday March 3rd, since someone mentioned the event historically occurred on Sundays,

and the first Sunday of the month kind of makes sense as it is a new moon (monthly cycle) we’re watching

What time should we gather for planning this evening, and where?
