Moonwells of Azeroth and Beyond

Hi all!

I wanted to have a resource for locations of moonwells, so here it is! These are accessible in the open world, and I have specified particular phases if speaking to Zidormi to time travel is required. I have foregone including any that may be found in instances such as dungeons and raids as that can be quite limiting to standard roleplay.

The coordinates were noted using TomTom, so there is a possibility of them being slightly off if you happen to use a different addon.

Some wells are described as “minor” which means they are smaller than a usual well and the typical structures surrounding them are absent, but I wished to make note of them all the same! I have also included the larger wells, such as the ones located in the Cenarion Wildlands in Desolace and the Temple of Elune in Val’sharah.

I have excluded the Emerald Dream and Teldrassil for lore purposes (gone but not forgotten…)

The list goes by continent; however, I was unable to find any wells in the following locations:

  • Suramar*
  • Nazjatar
  • The Dragon Isles (excluding Amirdrassil)

*With the exception of one of the wells listed under Partially Inaccessible

There are none located on Pandaria or Zandalar, thanks to Sheedai for the clarification!

There’s a chance I have missed some smaller wells in pre-BFA Darkshore, or have completely overlooked other zones entirely, so I absolutely welcome any commentary or feedback for any you’ve found yourselves! I’d love to keep this list as up-to-date as possible.

Just a note, Sylvanaar in Blade’s Edge actually has two Moonwells. I think it’s the only current Kaldorei settlement that’s got a double.

Nor I until it was pointed out to me! It’s visually distinct from the others in the list, made of metal rather than the usual stone with the phases of the moon engraved around the basin. Its design is quite beautiful and would feel right at home in a Warden encampment or vault, for example.

Given it was almost certainly built by the Tidesages as opposed to any kaldorei, an argument could be made for it not being a traditional moonwell as we know them, but the implications we could draw are intriguing nonetheless and could serve for some interesting RP regarding the Tidemother and Elune.
