More changes ... sigh

Patch notes say:

  • Enemy castbars can now be enabled in the default UI in the Options menu under Interface.
  • Damage over time abilities and other debuffs will now display their remaining duration on the default enemy unit frame.
  • Developers’ notes: These are oft-requested quality-of-life features that are easily accessible using addons, so we’ve decided to just go ahead and add this functionality to the default UI, especially since this functionality has never been a restricted part of the Interface API.

I’m fine with people want this, but why not make toggle also for DoTs and debuffs?
I want play Classic like it was. warts, bugs bumps and all. Not re-mastered Retail-look-alike.

Yea its a hell of a thing to complain about, no one should be ‘bothered’ by this but OP proves that there’s always going to be that someone.

If anything it will be even better than the addons as may be slightly more accurate for interrupting cast last split second etc.

Good change.

As I say I not opposed to the change as such. Only to it being forced on me too. I NOT use addons. I don’t want use addons, and now Blizz make in-built addons wuith no possibility say NO!

Well good thing it’s not an addon being forced on you. It’s a QoL change to the game that really shouldn’t have any negative opinions.

I dunno if it’s just modern times but everyone these days feels like everything or every business/corp needs to catered to them, an individual. Be in Starbucks, Mcdonalds…Blizzard it’s all the same. Anyway, this is an MMO (as in, a live service game) that is subject to changes almost constantly.

This isn’t even something worth discussing let alone complaining about my guy.

It’s about the purpose of the old developers, not the new ones.
We all know that there are no good developers left,
that’s why we’re playing a game from 2005 again,
because the new crap is no good (classic+).

Sometimes we get the feeling that allowing addons and macros was a big mistake.

I personally too feel like addons skewed WoW (and any MMO really). If I could choose for them to be kept or banned I’d personally choose banned. However, I also feel like enemy castbars and timers on CD/Dots should/would be mandatory… it was just a crutch passed onto addon’s (a very very basic feature) that’s now been rectified in both retail and classic.

Other things like Spy, DBM, Details, Weak Aura’s all became mandatory simply because everyone else used them eventually ‘needed’ them.

Just because you like this change is no reason to be snitchy.
Next time I hope Change is removal of something you like or addition of something you hate.

Well her point is that it is still the change from original and while addon was optional that QoL is mandatory in some form, if there is no toggle option along with it.

I belive some elements of Classic WoW are truly outdated since technical limitations that were in original are no longer an issue for the devs, but it keeps the old school charm if they bring QoL as optional features, not forcing everyone to play in a new way.

Exactly. Thanks.

Is it really too much to ask for 2019 classic, minus batching and plus chronoboon? These changes are killing the spirit of classic, which by the way, means preserving the history of the game as it existed in vanilla. QOL changes are indeed what killed retail, via a thousand cuts.

can’t you just NOT tick the box to show the enemy cast bar?

I do this. but Debuff cooldown not given option :frowning:

It’s not about whether I like the change or not. Any change that happens I understand I am joining a world/game and that It’s not shaped around me and my wants…just like real life almost?

This is an MMORPG live service game. Everyone is (and should expect to be) “FORCED” to play specific versions, patches and updates to an online game…it’s kind of how it works no?

I just now and then would like changes to be more Vanilla-.like, not always more Retail / addon like.

True for Retail. I chosen to abandon it during BfA for the BS they tried to Force on me. It seemed as if they learned from mistakes in mid of Legion and that got me hyped to return to it eagerly waiting for BfA, but instead they doubled down on AP Azerite grind, destroyed tier sets, maid skill squishing yet again, when nobody asked them to (they could simply bake in Legion artifact talents into class and specs passives. They butchered the game systems, figuring a new one and abandoning old every patch and in the end made items that made 70%+ of your dps completely random angering every hardcore and casual alike. Devs can’t do whatever without evaluating the feedback from their customers or they will go broke.

As for Classic the voved to make Era an museum, however keep trying to make all game versions to has as little differences in clients as they can, ruining that museum integrity. What are they trying to do. Make old players to get used to Retail interface and features?

Nobody cares, addons could do it regardless

Yeah it is really too much to ask for 2019 classic with changes BUT only the changes I think are necesary? Any other change is what killed retail, but my changes are good.

lol

They simply do not care. They have no reason to care. In fact Id argue they have good incentives to see era burn.
Era will only see the bare minimum of effort on their part, instead it will be subjected to the damages of their side projects. And only receive repairs if it breaks entirely.

Love to be proven wrong, but yea, I do not believe.
We have plainly seen this through their actions for years. We still suffer the damages of their last project. Some of us more so than others.

I care. Everything that move, sparkle, glitter … try to capture my attention … change my playstyle and so on, bothers me.
Addon I can not download, in game features I cannot NOT use :frowning:
Is why it is best kept as addon. Or with toggle like caster bars.

Agree! THIS is why NoChanges is only way to go!!

Quoted for truth!
