Mount drop chance difference between running solo and in group?

One in game friend didnt invite me on his dragon soul run because he says I am going to share the 1% chance of the mount drop.

I thought the 1% was for each person but he says since its legacy raid that we get all the loot shared for 2 of us the mount drop chance is shared for 2 people as well because its not personal loot.

Is he right? If he is, should i do all my mount runs for old dungeons and raids alone instead of another friend?

Does this rule apply only for legacy loot raids and dungeons if its right?

What about charhound and guldan mount?

Totally irrelevant.

So there is no difference between running raids alone and with a friend?

None, they’re personal drops.

So even thought it says legacy loots enabled when you go in, the mount drop is personal drops?

Actually you are wrong, i guess it depends on which instance you running but i ran New Karazhan a few days ago with a friend , Midnight droped for me and it was part of the boss loot not PL, also i already had that mount so i gave it to my friend so yeah its better to run things solo, you do share the 1% drop.

Again i think it depends on the instance, i did get charhound as PL before legacy loot was enabled but i think that mount is considered special loot which cant be traded even if you dont want it. Guldan mount on the other hand, i think it was something like this the Green one is like charhound , but the red one comes from the boss loot.

I have seen 2 midnight drop at same time .
Going with groups actually increases the chance for it to drop.

I nevert said its imposible.

How ?

Believe me ive read every wowhead post i read every reddit post and collectors site going i have 530+ mounts and they all agree soloing isnt the way to go .
Actually grouping in an MMO and taking friends is the best thing to do .
The OPs friend is plain wrong .

how?

Seems like soloing older raids is better than going with friends.

Actually Karazhan is one if its kind because wyrm drop chance is increased by 20% per character inside, but drops only one per run, no matter what, so for karazhan most beneficial is to go 5man party 5 times so everyone can have this mount guaranteed

I have like 300+ more mounts than you and been collecting for a fair while now and member of lots of groups soloing is NOT the best way to farm mounts in dungeons or raids that simple .

I was talking about Midnight , not ember wyrm. Also dont take this as fact but i think that they fixed the worm to drop even if its not a full group, seen it happen 3 times (2xSolo and in my midnight example my friend also got it )

Wyrm drop is 20% per character inside, so going solo you still have pretty high (20%) chance to get it.

Like i said i think they fixed that, also the wyrm is not relevant to the discusion which is 1% mounts.

No it hasnt been fixed at all.

I don’t know for sure if the sharing of the 1% chance is correct or not. I can see the need for grouping in later legacy raids that still need a group as solo is difficult, but DS is not the case. Why not just run it yourself and try for the mount? I don’t believe grouping for some of the old raids is necessary. If you decide to do this, good luck with the farm

No ofc its not necessary but runs go quicker and more fun with friends also if i can find the reddit post from the group im in i will link the thoery crafting they did with the %s of how drop rates are “slightly” improved in all raids with mounts .

in legacy raids its different. several stuff drop, and they all go to personal loot table (if the class is in the raid group as usual) and rest will stay on corpse from other classes not in raid (bow drops but no hunter? stay on corpse and will be rolled). mount will drop on corpse and there will be only 1 and its 1%.

Totally wrong you get 4 to 6 pieces of loot no matter armour or class type especially in legacey loot rules .

I have picked up cloth as a plate wearer in mythic antrous for example .
