I haven’t played mythic+ in 3 years because I have had a break, but from what I remember Cathedral of Eternal Night from Legion was pure aids before it received a slight nerf.

Blizzard did make a post about RP in m+ content during SL saying that time is factored into the timer allowing for the RP , i know its annoying but thats the way of it.

Yeah, you might want to have another look at what logic and reason is, you’ve slightly missed by about a thousand miles.
that explains nothing . the timer is not enough its simple you need minimum 40 minute considering the amount of flying and just downtime that there is no way you can cheese .
you are going to lose X amount of time flying mounting running around , and if you die twice that downtime , and if any other member dies add more to the pot , that just shouldnt be a thing there should be a portal that negates all of that bs
RP is taken in consideration there. Based on how much trash you have to kill, compared with, let’s say BRH. BRH has a lot more trash, no RP, and the timers are almost equal.
And if the RP was not taken in consideration, it mean that any given player will have that dungeon 3 levels under. Now, I know a lot of people who have it on par with the rest of the dungeons. And we are not talking about 11s and 12s, I’m talking about 22-24s. And we are not playing for 0.1% title, and sure as hell we are not pros.

And that does include the gauntlet where you need to dogde stuff.
I would have rather taken huge amount of trash there than the gauntlet as at least then it would be some sort of “fun”

It’s more difficult to coordinate things on pugs. It’s a fact. You saying “oh it’s an easy mechanic” in no way saves the pugs that wipe on it.
It requires coordination, timing and awareness from all players. The circles are random and while they prefer ranged they can spawn in melee too, especially on the last phase as you have limited space. It’s a volatile mechanic that can easily wipe a group by one player simply not moving fast enough when there are tons of yellow effects on the group. You ARE sounding like what you suggest. Cause it’s not as easy a mechanic as you make it sound. It’s very easy to mess it up. More so in a pug that can’t easily communicate.
There are more bosses like it? Yes, there are more bosses with challenging mechanics. Incredible revelation.

Maybe try playing the boss as caster/healer without perma instants and tell me how much fun you had.
The OP is a bit asinine and overemotional about nothing, but this, what you say, isn’t probably true. You can only compensate downtime for one certain key level, whatever that key level is, and you can’t theoretically do that for all key levels simultaneously. This is because time begins to weigh nonlineary more with HP of enemies going up, due to the need to invent more and more intricate pulls and strategies into your approach, while straight line running or RP deny you these opportunities. It might be counterintuitive and weird to hear (“But you just need to add that amount of time you spent on running to the final timer!”), but it is what it is. The result is that this dungeon already lags behind in the leaderboards and the margin will only continue to become wider.
But the timer does not change regardless of key level. This means that completion of the key is dependant on a fixed amount of time.
The RP and flying is a fixed amount of time.
If you remove these 2 factors from the timer it leaves you with a fixed amount of time to complete the key.
This is the same thing as the fixed amount of time that you have in a key that has no RP or flying.
In order to complete the key you need to deliver a certain amount of damage in a fixed amount of time, this scales with key level until it becomes impossible to complete the key in time bringing us to the max key level able to be completed.
I think it more shows how much this dungeon isn’t very well for M+. You can’t do anything with routing and speeding up the dungeon by pulling bigger. In Atal you can pull the whole dungeon in 1 pull and win time (except you do not survive it, but that is another story).
I agree, with you to a certain point but, Flying is a fixed amount of time and so is the RP.
Granted the maze is a pain in the butt but it is what it is, to a certain level this is also a skill check.
So if you remove the RP time and Flying time you are left with the clearance of the dungeon and the maze as the variable elements in the key. All of these are skill based checks.
Rise needs 3-5 minutes added to its timer, the timer is too tight… the dungeon itself is fine and I like it, but common, we hac 2 deaths in the entire dungeon (at maiden) and the rest of the dungeon was clean… missed the timer by 33 sec… while we had 20 deaths in atal’dazar on the same lvl and almost did +2… whoever thinks the dungeon is fine is seriously delusional, has no idea what he is talking about and probably never did this dungeon on higher than +20. There is too much flying and roleplay for the timer to be this short. I read somewhere on the forums that you can easily +2 it, rofl, yes maybe +20, but any high key its impossible.

The timer is a bit off, especially compared to Fall. I love the dungeon otherwise, they do need add a bit more time to it though
Anyone who was doing this dungeon in S2 would know that dungeon is easy now, maybe 30sec more to timer but that’s it.
I don’t really like battlefield boss tho
