So, been off game for some time.
Logged in the other day and purchased the latest expansion. After the purchase, I notice that my account is set to US region? I live in Sweden and EU.
Ok, no problems I thought it is just an account setting.
Yeah right!
When i log in to the game all i can see is Taiwanese servers an some Asi9oan Global serveres???
Few days later now, I have tried to get my region changed to my actual region or get in contact with support! Without luck! Nothing happens.
HOW DO O FIX THIS!!!
Support cannot change your account region from US to EU, as they are operated as two separate companies. Blizzard US, and Blizzard EU. Separate servers, separate databases, separate payment systems. Even though they are all owned by Microsoft now.
What you need to do is NOT PLAY on your account, and use the US version of the Refunds Self Service webpage, to refund your purchase (US since you purchased a US version).
Then when you get the refund, you can purchase it again on the correct region.
If you play on the account at all, the self-service webpage will decline the refund, and you will have to ticket a US GM, and explain the situation, and ask for a refund.
As for “support not answering”, keep in mind, its the weekend. There is no forum staff outside of office hours, and GM’s are on a skeleton crew over weekends, and only deal with critical issues.
In future, I strongly suggest making note of the CURRENCY that your purchase is being priced in. Thats a big clue. If its in Dollars and not Euros, then you’re about to make a US region purchase.

Hej,
Detta kan hända vem som helst. For example, someone already wrote about similar mistake in 2020: Bought wrong Region version - Support / Customer Support - World of Warcraft Forums
What most likely has happened here is that you accidentally bought an expansion for US version of the WoW account. If you have multiple WoW accounts, e.g., WoW 1, WoW 2 (lets say this is EU), WoW 3 (lets say this is US), always make sure that you choose the right one before making any purchases. As Trovlak said above, you can’t change your expansion from US to EU, as instructed by Blizzard here: Transfer World of Warcraft to a Different Region - Blizzard Support.
It’s not end of the world, as Blizzard is usually very understanding in case something like this happens - it could happen to anyone, very coommon mistake.
Use the Self-Service Refund, if not working, file a ticket. Once your refund has been processed, make a new purchase, but this time make sure it goes to your EU account.
Hopefully you’ll get it fixed!
I understand you don’t have US subscription. I have noticed similar problems in 1.11.5. Here is what works:
- Log off Battle.net account
- click settings icon
- change region to other (Asia for example)
- Log in/log off
- change back to EU
Probably you might skip other region step, but this is in case EU is not selectable.
Hi there Deathal,
While we’re unable to help directly over the forums given the needed personal info and verification, you should be able to resolve this yourself with self-service linked from here:
It looks like there might have been some issues with this service around the time of your original post, so please give it another try when you get a chance – and don’t hesitate to submit a support ticket for assistance if you still need it.
